Is 1.5 hours enough time to transfer flights from Continental to Tiger Airways in Hong Kong? Our family of four is flying from the US through Hong Kong to Singapore. Our arriving flight is scheduled to arrive at 7:05PM and the departing flight is on Tiger Airways at 8:30. Tiger flies from Terminal 2 at HKG. I am wondering if anyone has experience making a connection to Tiger in HKG. The check in closes "strictly" 45 minutes before departure, at 7:45PM, so that means we have 40 minutes to clear customs and get to T2.
can I claim miles on my continental one pass for flights I had with Thai airways 2 years ago? I am a onepass continental club member , and as both Thai and Continental are a part of the star Alliance scheme , I wonder if I can claim the miles I have flown with Thai , in Decmeber 2009 and add it to my continental onepass account . I have had the continental onepass membership since 2004 , but didn't notice the Star Alliance scheme when booked the flights with Thai...
Does US airways and Continental serve meals on domestic? My brother and I are flying from Columbus Ohio to Albuquerque New Mexico. From CMH to ABQ we will be flying US Airways via Phoenix leaving at 8 am. Return flight is Continental via Houston leaving ABQ at 615 am. The flight from Houston to Columbus is Continental Express with a Embrarer 145 regional jet. yes we are flying coach/economy class.
What do you think of US Airways and other airlines in their flights to Europe? Well, I'm going to make a trip soon to the Netherlands and I was wondering what your experiences are with US Airways, Lufthansa, Continental airlines, and Air France. US Airways is the cheapest, but I don't want to fly in a crap airline if I can avoid it. Any opinion will be highly appreciated!!!
Why do major U.S. airlines like Continental, American, etc use smaller regional airlines for commuter flights? I ask this because it appears that these smaller regional airlines aren't to the same standard as the major airlines in terms of safety, training, etc and this is obvious after Colgan Air (operating for Continental) flight 3407 that crashed outside of Buffalo. When I flew with US Airways from Chicago to Manchester UK, I had to connect in Philadelphia and my flight going from Chicago to Philadelphia was operated by US Airways, as was the main flight to Manchester. But on the return trip, the flight from PHL to ORD was operated by some smaller regional airline doing business for United Airlines doing business for US Airways. I could tell the difference because the crew were so unprofessional. The flight attendants were late getting on the plane, and when the guy read the safety information, I couldn't understand a word he said because he obviously just wasn't interested. So why do they do that? Is it because it's cheaper? I honestly don't feel safe on those smaller airlines and it appears that they aren't held to the same standard as the major airlines.
Which airline do you think is better: British Airways or Continental Airlines? Let's say on a long non-stop 9 hour flight from Houston to London...which airline would you pick? why?
What is continental airways like? We're flying from England to NY and then to Florida What is it like in-flight? Do you get a travel pack with stuff like sleep mask etc? Thanks alot
continental and u.s. airways luggage question? so i'm flying u.s. airways to florida and continental on the way home. i have a few questions. 1. what exactly does it mean to be a "checked bag"? 2. does it cost to bring a bag onto the plane? on both flights 3. how much will all of this luggage cost?
continental airways service?please help!!? i am flying to nerwark from london gatwick on a 757-200 and am really nervous now after reading other reviews on line- i didnt book the flight!!! I have only ever flown on bigger planes and am wondering if anyone can put my mind at rest who has flown with them on this route recently?

Maps with flights and how long they take? I am just interested, and lazy, so I would like someone to supply me with one of those types of maps that airlines have with lines of all their flights. I would also like a key beside the map with how long they take. I am interested in airlines such as Continental, Qatar Airways, Lufthansa, and whatever else you can get with out too much time spent. thanks :)
Am i elligible for compensation from my airline? I have just returned home from holiday in peru. On my way out i had two flights, one from london to new york and then another from new york to lima (peru). i unfortunately missed my 2nd flight on the way out because my first flight was over 1 hour late and i couldn't get through customs in time. I was automatically booked onto the next available flight the next day, however this meant a 24 hour stay in new york. My question is if continental should pay for the cost of the hotel? (i.e. do they have any legal obligations to do so?). Both flights were continental airways flights so it is their fault that i missed my flight. If anyone has anny experience of something like this their advice would be much appreciated. muchos gracias
Frequent Flier Miles dilemma on US Airways? To make an incredibly long story short: my dad and I are planning to visit Colombia from March 26th to April 2nd of 2010. We want to use his frequent flier miles he has accumulated over time (he has over 80,000 at this point!) to make the trip. US Airways themselves do not fly to Colombia. However, their allied partner, Continental Airlines do. We found several flights from PHL (Philadelphia, where we live) to BOG (the Bogota airport), but we've reached a problem. My dad is signed up on US Airways, but not on the Continental Airline website. Is there any way to use his US Airway miles on the Continental website, or Continental flights? How do we do this? Can we do it on the US Airway website, if so, how? We are very confused at this point. I've searched through the sites but there's not much I can figure out, so I've come to yahoo answers seeking guidance! Thank you :)
International connection flights and baggage check? I will be flying from Cleveland, OH to Bucharest, Romania. I will be flying Continental from Cleveland to a connecting flight in Newark, NJ. From there, I will fly on British Airways to London, England for another connection. From London, I will be on British Airways to Bucharest. What airports will I need to have baggage checks at? Are any going to transfer any baggage for me? I'll have one piece of baggage, not including my carry on.
Which has a better reputation, Continental or USairways? I never really had a problem with US Airways but I found a flight thats the same price but better scheduling fo me...it's Continental. My parents haven't had good experience with it because some how they always cancel flights or delay them. What's better as far as scheduling, service, etc?
Serves you right?; British Airways posts record loss...is this on account of them becoming 'London Airways'? Used to love the MAN-JFK service which used to arrive in New York in the mid-afternoon. There were many passengers who were happy they didn't need to spend a packet to get to Heathrow, from say, Leeds, Liverpool or anywhere else in the North. So good I used it half a dozen times, but as soon as BA decided to have their continental flights leave from Heathrow, Gatwick or elsewhere within a 40 miles radius of the capital, they lost respect from the rest of Britain. Now, from Ringway, Delta, Virgin and even Pakistan International Airlines (from Karachi), with a couple other airlines will take you to the US - and not only New York. And to think, BA originally told us outside the noose (known to one and all as the M25) that continental flights outside London were not 'called for'. Maybe they will find a reason for their loss, with the usual words 'security' and 'terrorism' getting a fair airing, but could be their yearning to become 'London Airways', with other airlines quickly taking over elsewhere has been cause for their moaning of 'loss'.
what's the food like on contenental flights to the USA I'm flying for the first time on Continental Airways to Houston from Heathrow, I don't think they are serving food but gues they sell it, can anyone clarify?
Is Continental Airlines Safe? i've been on Delta, United, Virgin, AmericanAirlines, US Airways, AirTran Airways, Southwest Airlines, and more airlines, but i've never been on A Continental flight is it safe??
Male flight attendant: Would a girlfriend have a legitimate concern? I was accepted into the flight attendant programs of both US Airways and Continental Airlines. My girlfriend at the time was SO concerned! Why? Should she have had a legitimate concern? If I was your boyfriend (or if your boyfriend was a flight attendant) would you be concerned?
Which of these airlines offer the best business class experience? I'm flying from Tampa, Florida to Salt lake city, Utah, which isn't a terribly long flight.. but between Continental, US Airways, Frontier Airlines, United, Delta and American Airlines, which would be the best? If you can make them into a list from best to worst, or worst to best and explain why, that'd be best.. I'm pretty stuck. :x
Any tips for flying for overweight passengers? I am flying on Continental and British Airways this summer and I was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions as to how to make my flights run a bit smoother?
Why can a person make more at Burger King than an Airline pilot? Among the headlines: The flight's 24-year-old first officer, Rebecca Shaw, earned less than $17,000 in 2008, her first year on the job with Colgan Airlines, the Manassas, Va.-based carrier that flies regionally for Continental, US Airways, and United. She earns $8.25 cents an hour to fly an airliner.
U.S. Airways? We are planning our third trip to Maui and I've noticed that all their flights are provided by U.S. Airways. The first time we went we flew with Continental and I loved it. We fly coach but it's cool, we all had our own individual screen in front of us and we could watch whatever we wanted, our 2nd trip we flew with United and it sucked! Sorry for the word. But yeah it was so small, and it's a 12 hr. flight, we hardly had leg room and there was only one screen in the center of the airplane, on each row that is, that all the passengers had to share and it wasn't a pleasant flight. Has anyone taken U.S. Airways on a long trip such as Hawaii? What can you can tell me about them? I know if I wanted to I could book with Continental but it's more expensive as the list goes down. Thanks for your help!
Mumbai international airport transfer for international passengers? I am flying Dhaka to Mumbai by Jet Airways and having arrived Mumbai, I fly Mumbai to Newark by Continental Airlines. How do I claim my luggage at Mumbai and check my luggage back again for the Continental Airlines flight to Newark. I do not have a visa to enter India and do not want to get stuck by having to inadvertently leave the airport.
Which Flight Companies Will Fly From London To America? I'm trying to find the best flight deals. So I'm having a look at all the different companies. So far I've looked at: ~British Airways ~Continental Airlines ~BMI Any others?
American Or British Airways ? Im suppost to be going on an American city tour visiting, Boston, New York, Chicago, San Fransisco, And Los Angeles, Next Year, And Ive Got My Flights Sorted Between The Rest Of The Cities On Delta & Continental, But I Was Wondering Which Is Better To Fly From London (Heathrow) To Boston, Ma, British Airways Or American, Ive Heard BA Are Alot Better To The States, Entertainment Wise And Seat Front Tv, On The Other Hand Ive Heard The Seats Are Small On American. Who Would You Fly On ? British Airways Are Cheaper Aswell, Ive Flew With Them To Sydney, Austrilia. They Were Really Good Then !
Are frequent flyer programs worth the hassle? I do maybe about 15,000 miles of flying every year on all different airlines. Generally, my tendency has been to look for cheap flights on Orbitz or Kayak and book those- this has resulted in me flying many different airlines just a few times each but saving a lot on each ticket. I signed up for frequent flyer programs for AA, Continental, and US Airways. I noticed that these programs also give points for making purchases through affiliates (like 1800flowers) and dining at certain restaurants. However, I am looking for some advice as to whether these programs are worthwhile. Say I buy some flowers and earn triple points. So I've earned 150 points, but that doesn't count for much in these programs. I almost feel like I am better off scouting the web for sales, coupons, and discounts than by trying to rack up frequent flyer miles and using them. Do you guys agree? Am I missing something?
How do I get a window seat if Southwest Airlines doesn't have assigned seating? I've never flown Southwest Airlines before. And my co-worker told me that on Southwest, there are no assigned seats. This is unlike American, Continental, Delta, US Airways, etc. I always like to have a window seat whenever I'm flying. What can I do to obtain a window seat on a Southwest flight? Should I check in very early? Should I call the airlines? What?
Continental Airlines question? Does Continental accept cash when paying for food of flights or do you have to use a credit card? I know many airlines are switching over to only using credit cards and not allowing cash, like Southwest and US Airways. I only ask because I checked their web site and it did not say.
I want a job with an airline company. Where can I find jobs? I am in college now and am seeking a good part time job with an airline. I will be 21 in a few weeks and am interested in flight attendant, but my husband will not be 21 until May and we want to do that together. I would like to be a ticket taker, food service, or something part time like that. Continental, Delta, Cayman Airways, British, SWA, all have engineer jobs or other things that take 10 years of college. Where else can I get these jobs through?
What can I do if an aiport is closed because of strikes? I've booked tickets to the States with continental (operated by US airways) leaving from London Heathrow in the middle of a week where the aiport might be closed because of strike action. I know all I can do is wait to see action announced, but does anyone know if the airline has to book me on another flight or will I lose my ticket altogether? I have insurance but I just want to make sure I can get to the States. Any info much appreciated!
Best Airline (continental US)? I'm planning on taking a flight in the near future and have a choice of: American, United, Continental, Delta, and US Airways. Which has the best snacks/most leg room? Thanks a ton!
Do airlines provide you with a blanket and small pillow? Particularly US Airways, United Airlines, and Continental Airlines. If so do they charge for these items, and is it typically cold on airplanes. My flight will be rather long, it is from New York to Spain. Thanks.
Spring break travel plans for 20- yr olds in the Continental US? I have a free roundtrip flight from US Airways. I'd like to go somewhere for Spring Break in the continental US where it would be fun for both me and my boyfriend. We're both 20. We like live music, good food, the outdoors, science-y/geeky things. Since we're 20, we won't be able to rent a car or go to bars. What's a good place for us to travel to for a week long trip? NYC is a good option. Any other, possibly warmer destinations that are do-able without a car?
How can you get different liveries on planes in Flight Simulator X.? Like KLM, Lufthansa, Continental, British Airways, Air France and etc...
what is the best airline to fly trans atlantic? i want to fly to london from new york. i have a lot of airlines to choose from, but i want to fly the airline that offers the best economy class, i.e. in flight entertainment, leg room, service. my choice of airlines are: british airways, virgin atlantic, united airlines, american airlines, continental airlines and british midland. any suggestions or help will be most appreciated. thanx.
What airline do you think is the best? To work for or that you've flown with. I'm looking at becoming a flight attendant. Air Canada British Airways Air France Qantas Continental United American Thanks!
Trying to decide on a flight... are these airlines good? I am planning a trip and I normally fly Delta or Jetblue (which are my favorite airlines). However, the cheapest tickets by far for this trip are continental airlines or US Airways. Are these good airlines to fly with? I'm really hesitant to fly a new airline but if they are decent, I'd like to save the money...
When An Obese Passenger Flies Alone? Do most airlines make them pay for a second seat? Say you're flying with major carriers such as US Airways, Delta, Continental, United, American. Who is best at accommodating larger passengers on flights from east coast to the west coast? cube-ism----I guess you need to stop flying then. LOL!
US Airways to Hawaii?? I gotta question.? Alright, I'm going to Hawaii in a few days and we are taking US Airways...We have never had any trouble with them, but we have never taken a long flight like this...I remember when we went last time, we took continental and they had like T.V's in the headrest's of each seat for like everyone's individual entertainment...Do they have this same feature on US Airways since it is such a long flight?
KLM or United Airways?? I will be taking a long flight from Germany to TN and then back. These are the two providers that I am debating with. I have read reviews and they both have bad and good. Which one is better? I have only flown with Delta, Continental and air France in the past. Continental being my favorite. The arm rests lift up which is a big plus. I need room to move around because I am a bigger size female. My husband is 6'10 so he also needs the extra room. I was not a fan of Air France at all. Small seats, bad food, hateful stewardess'/stewards. My husband is a Delta fan. So which airline is better? KLM or United Airways? Please include your experiences with the airline as well. Thanks a load!
i want to travel from newark, nj to columbus, oh. Pls help.? Continental airways flies between these 2 places. I also know that the flight is usually empty. I am assuming that airline company would prefer to sell tickets for cheap, rather than the flight going empty. HOW can i get these cheap tickets at the last mintue? Pls. help. Also, do u any bus that goes here, apart from greyhound. Thanks. Ur reply is appreciated.
Transatlantic US Airways or Air Canada? I am planing on going over to Continental Europe, from Toronto, next April for 5 months to backpack. I was looking for flights to anywhere, and saw that US Air was about $40 cheaper than anything else on all of their routes, but Air Canada was second cheapest. Should I just pay the extra $40 and fly AC? I have never flown transatlantic on either airline. What kind of service do the airlines offer on transatlantic flights? I have already backpacked the UK and Ireland, but flew British Airways. Unfortunately, BA is really expensive for the flights I was looking at, and I want to save my money for backpacking, not spend it on flights!
Opinions on Delta Airlines....? I'm going to take a Delta in August for my trip and I never went on Delta, I usually go on Continental for flights in America. I was just wondering if how it's like. It would really be good if you compare to other airlines, I've been to: -Continental -Virgin Atlantic -Iran Air -Emirate -Lufthansa -British Airways -KLM i went to some more, i dont remember (was too little) but you can still compare to other planes that aren't here.
Making my connection at LHR in 1hr 45 minutes; enough time?? advice please?? Hey guys, I have an eticket form ebookers with the following schedule: Flying British Airways from Manchester to LHR and then swapping to Continental Airlines for the trip to Newark. I've never flown a multiple airline trip before and I would like to know if I'll only have to check in once at Manchester and if BA will sort everything I need to continue my journey at LHR. (Like boarding passes and through checked baggage etc..) I bought it all as one package so I hope I want have to mess around too much at LHR? I'm just a little paranoid because I only have a 1hr 45 minute lay over to make the Continental Flight. Any tips....???
Flying two airlines?delayed luggage?will the airline deliver my bags to my final destination? Ok I will be flying from USA to London on Continental airlines and have a layover of 7 hours in London before continuing on a British airways flight to Madrid.I bought both tickets seperate because it was much cheaper that way..I know I will have to go check in for my second flight after clearing passport control and claiming my bags.. but what if Continental airlines is late delivering my bags and it arrives after I left to spain...will Continental airlines deliver them to Madrid to my home there? Im just concerned and would like to hear about your experience with flying two airlines and delayed bagge.. Thanks
Does it worry anyone that....? Last week, truckers rallied around the capital in Charleston, WV to get help with the gas tax that they are paying. They want the tax relief because of high oil prices. Small airlines Aloha, ATA, Skybus, and Skyway, all stopped their flights. Large airlines American, United, Northwest, Delta, Continental, and US Airways will cumulatively face about $10 billion in additional oil costs in 2008. Some say the small airlines went under because of mismangement, etc. Was it a matter of unfortunate timing or $100 a barrel oil prices? In the long run, what do you think this means for transportation in the US?

Hello. Me and my family are taking this one airline this summer that requires u to pay for baggage. Should we? OK. So me and my family are going to Serbia this summer. We are planning on flying here from Cleveland to Washington and then to either first London or Munich, then from there to Belgrade, Serbia. The flight from Cleveland to Washington is using Continental Airlines. All the other destinations are using British Airways or JAT Serbian Airlines. On the flight back from Washington to Cleveland, we are using US Airways. Since Continental makes you pay for your baggage, would we have to pay for the baggage to fly out of cleveland? Please help us out. thank you

How can I get a flight attendant job? once I turn 18 in january i would like to apply for a flight attendant job out of ATL or ABQ. Airlines i am interested in working with are continental, delta or us airways. All airlines require you to be 18 or have a GED but i will be getting my high school diploma june of 2010. questions i need answered: 1) will they hire and train me at age 18 2) all of the specific pages say they are not hiring online. however, they fail to mention if they are hiring at all, because my father is the international manager of the air france, klm, delta skyteam, and im sure he would have an "in" somewhere, although i would like to do this by myself. 3) arent they always looking for people for in flight crew? i find it very hard to believe that not one airline that services both atl and abq arent hiring, especially this coming recruiting season, january 2010. 4) are day camp counselor, gymnastics coach, and waiter good previous experience for work, when applying for this kind of a "peoples" job? 5) arent they looking for younger, taller people? not to mention i am 17 and already have over 300 flights under my belt, there fore am a very experienced flyer. please let me know. thanks
Can I use frequent flyer miles to help get a discount on this flight? Okay so I have a free continental (not the airline, as in within the U.S.) flight with U.S. Airways with all the frequent flyer miles I've added up over the years. I'm planning a trip to Europe next summer and the flights I've selected from Phx to London and Madrid to Phx both have connecting flights (on the way to London we stop in Charlotte and on the way back from Madrid we stop in Philly). So this is probably really confusing but is it possible to get those connecting flights for free with my free trip and overall pay less for the flights? ask if you need more clarification, sorry its complicated!! thanks so much!
Cheap airfare for Toronto to Delhi (return)? What is the cheapest airline/flights to Delhi from Toronto travel dates are Mar 11/09 - Mar 25/09 (dates are flexible 6 days before and after) The cheapest I can find is Continental connecting in Newark and even Jet Airways seams pretty expensive, would it be cheaper to book through a local travel agency? Ya Continental seems the cheapest so far, can anybody tell me how their long-haul service is because I know that Air India is the worst and I would never fly it again
When will United Airlines hire flight attendants again? and American Airlines, Delta Airlines, jetBlue Airways, AirTran, American Eagle, Continental.
Which airline would allow guinea pigs in the cabin with me? Hi, I'm moving from Sac, CA to Fay, NC in three weeks and have to get there by plane. I have two little guinea pigs that I love to death and I have to take them with me. One problem- I have called Northwest, United, Delta, US airways, Southwest, Continental, and American airlines just to get a "No, guinea pigs are not allowed in the cabin." Delta used to allow them, but their policy has recently changed. I refuse to put them in the cargo hold due to death due to either the pressure or stress. So my question is... which airline allows them in the cabin with me? I am willing to pay a fee, whatever it takes, to have my babies fly to NC with me. I will put them in a small kennel the whole flight, just let me know which airline WILL allow them. I'm getting desperate. Thanks a bunch.

Boeing 757 Transatlantic Replacement? Hello all, I used to think that the 757 was a dreadful aircraft but lately I have changed my mind - recently one from Orange County (SNA) to ORD and also from Shannon Ireland to Philadelphia. Talk about Flexibility! The flight from Shannon really struck me. I have since learned that Delta, Continental and US Airways all operate a 757 out of Shannon. These airlines are also flying 757s to many other smaller size european cities. I have been reading and reading and am disapointed to learn that neither Airbus or Boeing offer a 757 replacement which could do a JFK - SNN or similar. The smaller european cities which cant support a bigger aircraft will be ruined if they loose 757 service. What will happen. Is there currently a 757 replacement? If not will Boeing or Airbus develop one? Thanks.
time limit on changing flight...? I read on cheapticket that you are able to change flight after ticket are issued depend on which plane company you will be flying. FROM CHEAPTICKETS.COM Is there a time limit on changing a flight? United: If a United passenger with a non-refundable ticket wants to exchange a ticket, he or she will have a full year from the date their original ticket was issued to reschedule without losing the value of their tickets, provided they cancel their reservations prior to their scheduled departure time. Out of these airlines listed, which is the best to fly? (USA)? Continental Airlines, American Airlines, US Airways, Delta Air Lines, United or Northwest Airlines? This summer of 2010, I will be taking a round-trip flight from New Orleans, LA to Honolulu, Hawaii. From YOUR experience, which airline do you suggest I take and suggest I do not take? I don't want to end up with crappy service throughout my long 11-13 hour flight. Thank you. Additional details: Thank you all for the quick responses. Honestly, meal and leg room is not quite important to me. I'm quite small (4'11") and I just want to get there with a quick, smooth yet enjoyable flight. I will try to book a flight as soon as I can. I will keep checking back for responses. Thank you everyone.
air stewards? having just travelled back from America is it my imagination or are the air steward more butch ours were really great and made our flight very enjoyable thanks continental airways
Airline humour, star if you laugh? People in the airline industry aren't all serious... 1. On a Continental Flight with a very "senior" flight attendant crew, the pilot said, "Ladies and gentlemen, we've reached cruising altitude And will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and to enhance the appearance of your flight attendants." 2. Heard on a Southwest Airline flight. "Ladies and gentlemen, if you wish to smoke, the smoking section on this airplane is on the wing and if You can light 'em, you can smoke 'em." 3. On landing, the stewardess said, "Please be sure to take all of your belongings. If you're going to leave anything, please make sure it's something we'd like to have." 4. "There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only 4 ways out of this airplane" 5. "Thank you for flying Delta Business Express. We hope you enjoyed giving us the business as much as we enjoyed taking you for a ride." 6. As the plane landed and was coming to a stop at Ronald Reagan, alone voice came over the loudspeaker: "Whoa, big fella. WHOA!" 7. After a particularly rough landing during thunderstorms in Memphis, a flight attendant on a Northwest flight announced, "Please take care when opening the overhead compartments because, after a landing like that, sure as hell everything has shifted." 8. From a Southwest Airlines employee: "Welcome aboard Southwest flight 245 to Tampa. To operate your seat belt, insert the metal tab into the buckle, and pull tight. It works just like every other seat belt; and, if you don't know how to operate one, you probably shouldn't be out in public unsupervised." 9. "In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, masks will descend from the ceiling. Stop screaming, grab the mask, and pull it over your face. If you have a small child traveling with you, secure your mask before assisting with theirs. If you are traveling with more than one small child, pick your favorite." 10. Weather at our destination is 50 degrees with some broken clouds, but we'll try to have them fixed before we arrive. Thank you, and remember, nobody loves you, or your money, more than Southwest Airlines." 11. "Your seat cushions can be used for flotation; and, in the event of an emergency water landing, please paddle to shore and take them with our compliments." 12. "As you exit the plane, make sure to gather all of your belongings. Anything left behind will be distributed evenly among the flight attendants. Please do not leave children or spouses." 13. And from the pilot during his welcome message: "Delta Airlines is pleased to have some of the best flight attendants in the industry. Unfortunately, none of them are on this flight!" 14. Heard on Southwest Airlines just after a very hard landing in Salt Lake City: The flight attendant came on the intercom and said, "That was Quite a bump, and I know what y'all are thinking. I'm here to tell you it wasn't the airline's fault, it wasn't the pilot's fault, it wasn't the flight attendant's fault, it was the asphalt." 15. Overheard on an American Airlines flight into Amarillo, Texas, on a particularly windy and bumpy day: During the final approach, the Captain was really having to fight it. After an extremely hard landing, the flight attendant said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Amarillo. Please remain in your seats with your seat belts fastened while the Captain taxis what's left of our airplane to the gate!" 16. Another flight attendant's comment on a less than perfect landing: "We ask you to please remain seated as Captain Kangaroo bounces us to the terminal." 17. An airline pilot wrote that on this particular flight he had hammered his ship into the runway really hard. The airline had a policy which required the first officer to stand at the door while the passengers exited, smile, and give them a "Thanks for flying our airline." He said that, in light of his bad landing, he had a hard time looking the passengers in the eye, thinking that someone would have a smart comment. Finally everyone had gotten off except for a little old lady walking with a cane. She said, "Sir, do you mind if I ask you a question?" "Why, no,Ma'am," said the pilot. "What is it?" The little old lady said, "Did we land, or Were we shot down?" 18. After a real crusher of a landing in Phoenix, the attendant came on the horn, " Ladies and Gentlemen, please remain in your seats until Capt. Crash and the Crew have brought the aircraft to a screeching halt against the gate. And, once the tire smoke has cleared and the warning bells are silenced, we'll open the door and you can pick your way through the wreckage to the terminal." 19. Part of a flight attendant's arrival announcement: "We'd like to thank you folks for flying with us today. And, the next time you get the insane urge to go blasting through the skies in a pressurized metal tube, we Hope you'll think of US Airways." 20. A plane was taking off from Kennedy Airport. After it reached a comfortable cruising altitude the Captain made an announcement over the intercom, "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Welcome to flight number 293, non-stop from New York to Los Angeles. The weather ahead is good and, therefore, we should have a smooth and uneventful flight. Now sit back and relax... OH, MY GOD! Silence followed, and after a few minutes, the captain came back on the intercom and said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, I am so sorry if I Scared you earlier. While I was talking to you, the flight attendant accidentally spilled a cup of hot coffee in my lap. You should see the front of my pants!" A passenger in Coach yelled, "That's nothing. You should see the back of mine!"
Think about this the next time you board a plane...? These are actual conversations recorded by ATC towers around the world. Kinda makes you stop and think about why there aren't more accidents in the sky... Actual exchanges... between pilots and control towers... Tower: "Delta 351, you have traffic at 10 o'clock, 6 miles!" Delta 351: "Give us another hint! We have digital watches!" ************************************************************************ ************************** Tower: "TWA 2341, for noise abatement turn right 45 Degrees." TWA 2341: "Center, we are at 35,000 feet. How much noise can we make up here?" Tower: "Sir, have you ever heard the noise a 747 makes when it hits a 727?" ************************************************************************ **************************** From an unknown aircraft waiting in a very long takeoff queue: "I'm f...ing bored!" Ground Traffic Control: "Last aircraft transmitting, identify yourself immediately!" Unknown aircraft: "I said I was f...ing bored, not f...ing stupid!" ************************************************************************ **************************** O'Hare Approach Control to a 747: "United 329 heavy, your traffic is a Fokker, one o'clock, three miles, Eastbound." United 329: "Approach, I've always wanted to say this... I've got the little Fokker in sight." ************************************************************************ ****************************** A student became lost during a solo cross-country flight. While attempting to locate the aircraft on radar, ATC asked, "What was your last known position?" Student: "When I was number one for takeoff." ************************************************************************ ***************************** A DC-10 had come in a little hot and thus had an exceedingly long roll out after touching down. San Jose Tower Noted: "American 751, make a hard right turn at the end of the runway, if you are able. If you are not able, take the Guadelou pe exit off Highway 101, make a right at the lights and return to the airport." ************************************************************************ ****************************** A Pan Am 727 flight, waiting for start clearance in Munich, overheard the following: Lufthansa (in German): "Ground, what is our start clearance time?" Ground (in English): "If you want an answer you must speak in English." Lufthansa (in English): "I am a German, flying a German airplane, in Germany. Why must I speak English?" Unknown voice from another plane (in a beautiful British accent): "Because you lost the bloody war!" ************************************************************************ ******************************* Tower: "Eastern 702, cleared for takeoff, contact Departure on frequency 124.7" Eastern 702: "Tower, Eastern 702 switching to Departure. By the way, after we lifted off we saw some kind of dead animal on the far end of the runway." Tower: "Continental 635, cleared for takeoff behind Eastern 702, contact Departure on frequency 124.7. Did you copy that report from Eastern 702?" BR Continental 635: "Continental 635, cleared for takeoff, roger; and yes, we copied Eastern... we've already notified our caterers." ************************************************************************ ******************************** One day the pilot of a Cherokee 180 was told by the tower to hold short of the active runway while a DC-8 landed. The DC-8 landed, rolled out, turned around, and taxied back past the Cherokee. Some quick-witted comedian in the DC-8 crew got on the radio and said, "What a cute little plane. Did you make it all by yourself?" The Cherokee pilot, not about to let the insult go by, came back with a real zinger: "I made it out of DC-8 parts. Another landing like yours and I'll have enough parts for another one." ************************************************************************ ******************************* The German air controllers at Frankfurt Airport are renowned as a short-tempered lot. They not only expect one to know one's gate parking location, but how to get there without any assistance from them. So it was with some amusement that we (a Pan Am 747) listened to the following exchange between Frankfurt ground control and a British Airways 747, call sign Speedbird 206. Speedbird 206: "Frankfurt, Speedbird 206! clear of active runway." Ground : "Speedbird 206. Taxi to gate Alpha One-Seven." The BA 747 pulled onto the main taxiway and slowed to a stop.. Ground: "Speedbird, do you not know where you are going?" Speedbird 206: "Stand by, Ground, I'm looking up our gate location now." Ground (with quite arrogant impatience): "Speedbird 206, have you not been to Frankfurt before?" Speedbird 206 (coolly): "Yes, twice in 1944, but it was dark, -- I was dropping things and didn't land." ************************************************************************ ****************************** While taxiing at London's Gatwick Airport, the crew of a US Air flight departing for Ft. Lauderdale made a wrong tur n and came nose to nose with a United 727. An irate female ground controller lashed out at the US Air crew, screaming: "US Air 2771, where the hell are you going? I told you to turn right onto Charlie taxiway! You turned right on Delta! Stop right there. I know it's difficult for you to tell the difference between C and D, but get it right!" Continuing her rage to the embarrassed crew, she was now shouting hysterically: "God! Now you've screwed everything up! It'll take forever to sort this out! You stay right there and don't move till I tell you to! You can expect progressive taxi instructions in about half an hour, and I want you to go exactly where I tell you, when I tell you, and how I tell you! You got that, US Air 2771?" "Yes, ma'am," the humbled crew responded. Naturally, the ground control communications frequency fell terribly silent after the verbal bashing of US Air 2771. Nobody wanted to chance engaging the irate ground controller in her current state of mind. Tension in every cockpit around Gatwick was definitely running high. Just then an unknown pilot broke the silence and keyed his microphone, asking: "Ma'am, ..... Was I married to you once?"
Best airline for London? I'm planning a trip to London this coming Spring Break (March) and I'm looking at airline prices. The cheapest I found was US Airways but I've heard such negativity about them that I wonder if I should take that chance. Granted every airline has its share of complaints. The flight would be from San antonio TX to Charlotte NC then Gatwick. Should I take this flight? For 50 dollars more, I can get continental airlines to London Heathrow. Trust US airways or not? (Virgin Atlantic is not available in my state). And will fares continue to rise? I cannot book until Jan.
Going through Customs for an Intl. Flight at JFK? IS THIS POSSIBLE? I am going abroad to florence in the spring and looking to book a flight from ROCHESTER NY to PISA. The Flight Itinerary is: Rochester (ROC) Depart 4:09 pm to Newark (EWR) Arrive 5:29 pm Continental Depart 6:50 pm Terminal B to London (LHR) BRITISH AIRWAYS. My question is: I arrive in Newark and have 1.5 hrs to get to Terminal B and also go through customs to which I understand. Is this enough time? Has anyone ever done this flight, and what happens to my bags at Newark, do I have to retrieve them?

San Jose Tower noted: "American 751, make a hard right turn at the end of the runway, if you are able. If you are not able, take the Guadeloupe exit off Highway 101, make a right at the lights and return to the airport." There's a story about the military pilot calling for a priority landing because his single-engine jet fighter was running "a bit peaked". Air Traffic Control told the fighter jock that he was number two, behind a B-52 that had one engine shut down. "Ah," the fighter pilot remarked, "The dreaded seven-engine approach." A Pan Am 727 flight, waiting for start clearance in Munich, overheard the following: Lufthansa (in German): "Ground, what is our start clearance time?" Ground (in English): "If you want an answer you must speak in English." Lufthansa (in English): "I am a German, flying a German airplane, in Germany. Why must I speak English?" Unknown voice from another plane (in a beautiful British accent): "Because you lost the bloody war!" Tower: "Eastern 702, cleared for takeoff, contact Departure on frequency 124.7" Eastern 702: "Tower, Eastern 702 switching to Departure. By the way, after we lifted off we saw some kind of dead animal on the far end of the runway." Tower: "Continental 635, cleared for takeoff behind Eastern 702, contact Departure on frequency 124.7. Did you copy that report from Eastern 702?" BR Continental 635: "Continental 635, cleared for takeoff, roger; and yes, we copied Eastern... we've already notified our caterers." One day the pilot of a Cherokee 180 was told by the tower to hold short of the active runway while a DC-8 landed. Another landing like yours and I'll have enough parts for another one." The German air controllers at Frankfurt Airport are renowned as a short-tempered lot. They not only expect one to know one's gate parking location, but how to get there without any assistance from them. So it was with some amusement that we (a Pan Am 747) listened to the following exchange between Frankfurt ground control and a British Airways 747, call sign Speedbird 206. Speedbird 206: "Frankfurt, Speedbird 206 clear of active runway." Ground: "Speedbird 206. Taxi to gate Alpha One-Seven." The BA 747 pulled onto the main taxiway and slowed to a stop. Ground: "Speedbird, do you not know where you are going?" Speedbird 206: "Stand by, Ground, I'm looking up our gate location now." Ground (with quite arrogant impatience): "Speedbird 206, have you not been to Frankfurt before?" Speedbird 206 (coolly): "Yes, twice in 1944, but it was dark, and I didn't land." While taxiing at London's Gatwick Airport, the crew of a US Air flight departing for Ft. Lauderdale made a wrong turn and came nose to nose with a United 727. An irate female ground controller lashed out at the US Air crew, screaming: "US Air 2771, where the hell are you going?! Tension in every cockpit out around Gatwick was definitely running high. Just then an unknown pilot broke the silence and keyed his microphone, asking: "Wasn't I married to you once?" Well if any of that made you laugh, give it a star, it was worth it?
Of the following Airlines... which is best? See, I might be going on a 10-day trip to D.C. from Hartford. I'm a minor (who'll be traveling alone) and don't know a lot about travel, so which is best: -a nonstop flight (less complicated) -a one-stop flight (if it's cheaper) and: -landing directly in D.C. -landing in Baltimore & driving to D.C. (if it'd be cheaper altogether) and then: -U.S. Airways (the cheapest [$117]- is that a bad sign?) -Delta Airlines -Continental Airlines -United Airlines -American Airlines (by far and wide, the most expensive [$654]- is it better quality though?) I'd also like to know you guys' personal experiences with these airlines to help me with my decision (if I'm even going).
