My dog tied while in transit on Northwest Airlines. What Claims can I make, how can I recoup the finacial loss? I just flew our family from Detroit to Germany to join my active duty Army husband. As I landed, I was informed that one of our two bulldogges died during the trip. An examination or autopsy still has to be performed, but I'd guess it was due to respiratory distress or overheating. He had been examined by the vet two days before travel and declared perfectly healthy. I don't want to sound callous and sound like money is all that matters. A monetary value can't be put on what he meant to us, and no money will bring him back. Bottom line though, he was an investment, and we have spent countless dollars breeding, training and showing him. I'd expect if brought in a suitcase, and it was damaged before I picked it up, the airlines would replace it. Is this different? Some facts if it makes a difference: temperature is supposed to be checked prior to accepting the kennel. There is no documentation that this was done, and the checksheet on his kennel was left blank./ A customer service rep at the airport met us at the gate. We were given a comp ticket for refreshments, a voucher for a cab ride to the animal station (to view him and retrieve property) and I was informed that Northwest would cover the cost of the post mortem examination/ As I checked in the dogs at the airport prior to departure, one of the cargo handlers was in training and being shadowed by another employee/ No extra liability insurance was purchased, nor were we given an option. No specific waiver of fault was signed or discussed, although as I understand it, that is a general condition implied with ticket purchase. Do I have a case or right to claim, and if so how would I precede. Anybody know where I could research other pet losses at the airlines?
Travelling with cat on Northwest Airlines??? Please Help!? I am desperate for help. I want to carry my 13 pound cat onto my flight when I move from AK to FL in a month. The problem is, the only soft sided carrier I can find (the Sherpa Delta one) that he fits in and meets airline rule weighs 4 lbs on its own so he weighs 17 lbs. in it. The limit is 15 lbs and they claim (on the phone) even if it’s 15.5 he will not be able to go. I even offered to pay extra and not bring any carry on items and they said “rules are 15 lbs and that’s all there is to say. No wiggle room.” Putting him in cargo would be the absolute worst thing! He is not easy going at all and plus he would be terrified. What I need to know is has anyone had experience carrying pets on to a flight (especially a Northwest flight) and if so how strict were they to you about the weight? What type of carrier did you use? Unfortunately, since I am moving and this is the only option so please don’t respond about how cruel I am to my cat.
International Air Cargo ? Air Cargo has become a huge global industry with airlines like Japan Air Lines and Northwest along with the air freight companies operating regular service around the world. What large jet freighter is used most? Other than parcel delivery, what cargo is the most commonly carried and why? I'm thinking cut flowers and food but I'm drawing a blank as to what else.
What airlines allow guinea pigs in the cabin? Hi, I'm moving from Sac, CA to Fay, NC in three weeks and have to get there by plane. I have two little guinea pigs that I love to death and I have to take them with me. One problem- I have called Northwest, United, Delta, US airways, Southwest, Continental, and American airlines just to get a "No, guinea pigs are not allowed in the cabin." Delta used to allow them, but their policy has recently changed. I refuse to put them in the cargo hold due to death due to either the pressure or stress. So my question is... which airline allows them in the cabin with me? I am willing to pay a fee, whatever it takes, to have my babies fly to NC with me. I will put them in a small kennel the whole flight, just let me know which airline WILL allow them. I'm getting desperate. Thanks a bunch.
Passing through Amsterdam - Does anyone speak DUTCH? Please help with a translation? I will be flying through Amsterdam and my dog will be shipping as cargo. I have a 9 hour layover in Amsterdam and was told that the airline (Northwest/KLM) has people who will feed and walk my dog during this layover. The dog is a Rotweiller and is actually very friendly, but may be nervous around strangers without me there. I would like to make a sign to attach to the outside of the crate and I would like it to be in English/Dutch/Arabic. I have someone who can help with the Arabic already but I need someone to translate the following paragraph into Dutch: My name is Sierra. I am very nervous because I have never been on an airplane before. I may be barking loud and look very scary, but I actually am very friendly. I like people very much. If you will be nice enough to take me out of my crate and take my for a walk, please keep me on my leash because I like to run and chase cars. I also like to run towards people when I see them because I am very excited to meet new people and I love for people to pet me. Only a very strong person should walk me. Thank you. Thanks. That looks great. I will just copy and paste it and print it out as it is. Anna: Thanks. I know everyone speaks English there. But I am just nervous about her being by herself so naturally, I want to cover all the bases. Just to be on the safe side.
Flying with cats on Northwest? Against my better judgment, I am flying to Korea on Northworst this July and have paid their $150 charge each to take our two cats. The airline policy is that cat and carrier must weigh no more than 15 pounds. Our older cat tips at about 15.5 with the carrier. Someone asked this question eight months ago, but does anyone have current experience on how strictly it is enforced? As I am flying out of Las Vegas, apparently I cannot put them in cargo due to the temperatures. Thanks. I am reluctant to starve my cat for two weeks.
How exactly do they ship dogs in planes? I'm having my puppy sent to me via northwest airlines on thursday. he's flying from iowa to new jersey, and with the layover it will be about 8 hours total travel for him. he's not flying with a passenger, so he's logically cargo. he's about 4 pounds and will be sent in a travel crate. how exactly do they set up dogs for flights? obviously they can't go in the same cabin as regular luggage. do they have a live animal cargo area? and do i just pick him up from the cargo area when he lands? do the luggage handlers deal with him and the travel crate will be put on the luggage trolley in the airport? i'm very concerned about his flight, if u haven't noticed lol. and if anyone can tell me their experience with dogs during flights, it'd be greatly appreciated. i did some research and i know as a matter of fact that live animals cannot freeze to death in a plane. i found out they ARE in a live animal cargo area. so the person who said that is full of baloney.

corrections and reading proof please! 10 points? Today’s is speaker was one the most speakers I listened to since the beginning of the semester , and as much as I was excited in listing to what he has to say from valuable information I forgot his name . It takes him a length of 14 month to finish Mercer Aviation program. Worked three jobs and take maximum three credits a semester. He earned all his ratings plus his CFI rating , after teaching flying he was flying cargo till the right time was coming to him as an airline pilot , he moved quality to left seat after real hard work. While his flying career time he was able to finish and earn his four years bachelor degree from Atlantic university Now he is a captain for Northwest Airline for over 25 years flying 757. He is a president of Aviation Advisory commission. He was fortunate to fly almost all over Asia and Europe as part of his flying experiences he gained by working hard towards achieving his goals. He encouraged us to stay focuses in school because of the hard time that the Aviation industry faces, and over all how the global economics are in turmoil, which is affecting everything around us. The captain didn’t talk much about him or the industry , but gave us a good chance in asking him direct questions about the program and the industry itself , which was the best because it did clear lots of concerns we had . The plan for me on how to finish the program in a very fast track I had was changed totally after knowing how fast he finished it just in 14 month. The speaker talked about stuff by far the most important things I want to hear , maybe because that was my filed I want to be in ; or that he took a pathway that I am taking it right now in perusing my dream as an airline captain in a very short way and time but very effectively . I defiantly take his advice seriously about moving to wherever the main base of the airline I am going to be working for are located , because the family always comes first .

Question about finding carriers for pets and if I can buy them at the airport? My situation is a bit unique so serious answers only please. I am currently living in China and while here, my boyfriend and I ended up adopting a small puppy that was stray and starving. It is in good health and had its shots. we are working on getting all the papers to bring it back to the USA with us. But we are having one big problem...we cannot seem to find a pet carrier anywhere near where we live. My first question is- does anyone know where I can find one of these things for sale in China? We will be visiting Beijing and Shanghai, they might have them there...but in the event we cannot find a pet carrier in time, Does anyone know if I can buy one from the airline? It'll have to be shipped as cargo so we need a hard one, and we will either ship it Northwest or Delta...Any answers you might have would be very helpful! We're leaving in two weeks and need to take care of this. Thank you so much. You've never been to a walmart in china have you? Urgh. I'm in China. I need to know if the airports here have them.
