American Express Platinum vs Continental Airlines Presidential Plus? Hi, I just wanted an opinion, I like flying Continental, but fly about twice a year. I'm extremely partial to the Continental Airline lounges which Amex will no longer carry after next year. It seems that both have similiar features (eg: rewards, purchase protection, price protection). However Amex's service is incredible, so which would you pick given the choice?
Why are Continental Airlines and Express Jet...? being fined by the government for holding people on a plane for 6 hours? When all they were doing was rerouting because of weather. Okay, I understand I would be super mad if I was on the plane, but I would blame this Mesaba Airlines and sue them, because they wouldn't let them pull into the terminal even though they were like 50 yards away... I would fine them, and not Continental and Express Jet. If you don't know what I am talking about (I am a very bad explainer), this is what I am talking about... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091124/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_nightmare_flight Well, if you read the article, it says the pilot was pleading for them to let them in, since the Mesaba was the only airline with employees still at the airport, and they wouldn't do it... Continental, did refund, and a lot more, honestly, I think they did all they could.... In my opinion, there is nothing else Continental could've done in the situation...
Whitch one of those airline give a good service to her custumers:? AMERICAN AIRLINE. UNITED AIRLINE. NORTHWEST AIRLINE. SOUTHWEST AIRLINE. JET BLUE AIRLINE. FRONTIERE AIRLINE. US-AIR LINE. CONTINENTAL AIRLINE. DELTA AIRLINE. AMERICAN EXPRESS AIRLINE.
Never received continental airline confirmation number? My mother paid for the flight (via American Express), and I received an email shortly after with my flight info - but no confirmation number. Can I call them and ask for it by giving my name and flight number (despite not knowing my mom's credit card #)? Thanks.

What to do at the airport if I checked in online? I checked in my flight within 24 hours of my departure on their website. I have an e-ticket (i booked from orbitz) and I'm flying continental express (continental airlines) So what do I do at the airport if I already have my boarding pass printed and I checked in online? and where do I go?
Portable DVD players on Continental Express Jet? I leave for a trip this coming Wed. night and I want something to keep me busy for the 3 hour flight. I know different Airlines have different rules & since this airplane is smaller, I was wondering if portable DVD players are still allowed to be used on the flight as long as I have ear phones? Also, what should I expect with taking one of these through security? Should it be out of the case, ect? So its ok to have on the Express Jet operated by Continental Airlines as well?
Which Airline Credit Card offers the best rewards Miles Program? Hi. I currently have the Delta Gold American Express card. And being in Los Angeles, I noticed Delta isn't the best airline to book out of LAX. So want to switch to another card. I was looking at both The CONTINENTAL Airlines One Pass Mastercard. And the new VIRGIN ATLANTIC American Express. Does anyone have these cards to tell me about their experience? I spend about $3000 a month with my card. Paying it off completely each month, fyi.
Are 16yr olds considered "adults" on continental airlines? I was reading their 'Children Traveling Alone' thing on their website but I'm pretty lost. It's probably obvious but I don't get it heh :P "Continental designates children 5-14 years of age as unaccompanied minors when traveling without a companion who is at least 18 years old in the same cabin. Travel arrangements for young travelers can be booked at any of the following: * continental.com * Continental Reservations Call Center * A U.S. Continental Ticket Office * Your local Travel Agent. For reservations booked and purchased on or after Feb. 17, 2008: * Continental will allow unaccompanied minor travel only on Continental Airlines, Continental Micronesia, Continental Express and Continental Connection flights. * Unaccompanied minors under 5 years of age are not accepted. * Unaccompanied minors ages 5-7 may only travel on nonstop flights. * Unaccompanied minors ages 8-14 may travel on any flight (nonstop or connecting) operated by Continental, Continental Micronesia, Continental Express, or Continental Connection. However, travel will not be allowed on the last connecting flight of the day – unless the connecting flight is the only published service to that destination. Unaccompanied Minors are not accepted on flights which require an overnight stay in order to make a connection. * Special supervision for children ages 15-17 who are traveling alone will no longer be offered. * Children under the age of 15 traveling alone may not travel on any flights operated by Continental that connect to/from other carriers, including SkyTeam and other partners." I c&p so you won't have to go find it. Does it mean that you won't need someone over 18 picking up the minor?

What will happen to the gate layout at the Indianapolis International Airport after the airline mergers? Just wondering if anybody knows what will happen to where the gates are at the Indianapolis International Airport after all the airline mergers. United and Continental are merging into one, but they are at two different terminals, which terminal will they relocate to, or will they stay at their same gates? Because Delta has all of terminal A except for the gates operated by Continental. Will United move to the Continental gates, or will some other airline take over those gates? What will happen to the gates after the Southwest and Airtran merger? Both airlines are at the same terminal, but they are at different ends. What will happen to those? Plus, I heard that Branson Air Express was at terminal B, where are all those airlines gonna go?
Does anyone understand how the baggage fees work for Continental Airlines? okay i remember having to pay $15.00 for my first checked bag when i departed & then going back, i had to pay $15.00 again. Is that because i was a first time flier, or they do this every time you check your baggage into the airport? i really don't understand how it works, i've tried going to the website & reading about it, but it confused the hell out of me. how we booked the flight: we called a travel agent & they sent us the ticket. i went from memphis to newark. and now i booked a flight for next week & did it on orbitz.com & i'm taking continental express again. now i am traveling from nashville to newark. do i still have to pay the $15.00? well cultural insite, apparently you didn't read my description very well. i explained that i only rode a plane ONCE. i'd suggest you read it again. k thanks...
I have three stops on my domestic flight, will I have to recheck my bags or will they go all the way through? I know that if its the same airline it usually goes all the way but I've only ever had a flight with two stops. I leave on a Continental flight but my next one is Continental operated by United Airlines and my next one after that is Continental operated by United Express/Skywest Airlines
Can anyone name any "airline within an airline"? Can anyone name any "airline within an airline" that are still operating, such as Song, Metrojet, United Express, or Continental Lite?
I'm flying with my two-year-old daughter in a few weeks and was wondering if she had to be in a car seat? i flew with her last year and she sat on my lap, but now she has her own seat. I just don't know if I need to bring her carseat or not. Please answer only of you know for sure. This question is directed at flight attendants and airline employees. I'm flying continental express on one of the small planes if that makes a difference. Also, please list your source, like what your job title is.,
Which airline credit card should I choose I have just started traveling a lot for my job and thought it would be a good idea to also get an airline credit card. This would be my first credit card, so choosing which one is very important to me. I fly on Delta and Continental primarily, so I am looking to either get a Delta American Express Card or Continental MasterCard. Any thoughts?
time limit on changing flight...? I read on cheapticket that you are able to change flight after ticket are issued depend on which plane company you will be flying. FROM CHEAPTICKETS.COM Is there a time limit on changing a flight? What is "a feeder operation"? Hi there, I am trying to read New York Times and hit this sentence "His current employer, Express Jet Airlines, is a spin-off from a feeder operation for Continental Airlines. " What is a feeder operation? Does that mean the parent company give the money to operate their sub? Thanks in advance.
Southwest Airlines or ASA (United Express)? I have been a flight attendant for 3 years but left 1 year ago because of family. Now, I am ready to get my wings back. I had an offer from Atlantic Southwest Airlines/ASA servicing United Express and the training starts next week for flight attendant position for ERJ-145 aircraft (1 FA on board) But then, I had an offer from Southwest a few days ago for a ground position at the airport. Now, I am confused which one to get. I love to fly again but I'm sure I can also do that in Southwest since I can transfer internally. And a lot of people say that Southwest is a great company to work for and they treats their employees very well, and of course, great benefits too. With ASA, all they have is contract with United and Continental but they are considered as "the super regional" since Expressjet and ASA is merging. I'm torn in between.I need to decide within the week. Any opinions is appreciated, thanks!
Airline humour, star if you laugh? People in the airline industry aren't all serious... 1. On a Continental Flight with a very "senior" flight attendant crew, the pilot said, "Ladies and gentlemen, we've reached cruising altitude And will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and to enhance the appearance of your flight attendants." 2. Heard on a Southwest Airline flight. "Ladies and gentlemen, if you wish to smoke, the smoking section on this airplane is on the wing and if You can light 'em, you can smoke 'em." 3. On landing, the stewardess said, "Please be sure to take all of your belongings. If you're going to leave anything, please make sure it's something we'd like to have." 4. "There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only 4 ways out of this airplane" 5. "Thank you for flying Delta Business Express. We hope you enjoyed giving us the business as much as we enjoyed taking you for a ride." 6. As the plane landed and was coming to a stop at Ronald Reagan, alone voice came over the loudspeaker: "Whoa, big fella. WHOA!" 7. After a particularly rough landing during thunderstorms in Memphis, a flight attendant on a Northwest flight announced, "Please take care when opening the overhead compartments because, after a landing like that, sure as hell everything has shifted." 8. From a Southwest Airlines employee: "Welcome aboard Southwest flight 245 to Tampa. To operate your seat belt, insert the metal tab into the buckle, and pull tight. It works just like every other seat belt; and, if you don't know how to operate one, you probably shouldn't be out in public unsupervised." 9. "In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, masks will descend from the ceiling. Stop screaming, grab the mask, and pull it over your face. If you have a small child traveling with you, secure your mask before assisting with theirs. If you are traveling with more than one small child, pick your favorite." 10. Weather at our destination is 50 degrees with some broken clouds, but we'll try to have them fixed before we arrive. Thank you, and remember, nobody loves you, or your money, more than Southwest Airlines." 11. "Your seat cushions can be used for flotation; and, in the event of an emergency water landing, please paddle to shore and take them with our compliments." 12. "As you exit the plane, make sure to gather all of your belongings. Anything left behind will be distributed evenly among the flight attendants. Please do not leave children or spouses." 13. And from the pilot during his welcome message: "Delta Airlines is pleased to have some of the best flight attendants in the industry. Unfortunately, none of them are on this flight!" 14. Heard on Southwest Airlines just after a very hard landing in Salt Lake City: The flight attendant came on the intercom and said, "That was Quite a bump, and I know what y'all are thinking. I'm here to tell you it wasn't the airline's fault, it wasn't the pilot's fault, it wasn't the flight attendant's fault, it was the asphalt." 15. Overheard on an American Airlines flight into Amarillo, Texas, on a particularly windy and bumpy day: During the final approach, the Captain was really having to fight it. After an extremely hard landing, the flight attendant said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Amarillo. Please remain in your seats with your seat belts fastened while the Captain taxis what's left of our airplane to the gate!" 16. Another flight attendant's comment on a less than perfect landing: "We ask you to please remain seated as Captain Kangaroo bounces us to the terminal." 17. An airline pilot wrote that on this particular flight he had hammered his ship into the runway really hard. The airline had a policy which required the first officer to stand at the door while the passengers exited, smile, and give them a "Thanks for flying our airline." He said that, in light of his bad landing, he had a hard time looking the passengers in the eye, thinking that someone would have a smart comment. Finally everyone had gotten off except for a little old lady walking with a cane. She said, "Sir, do you mind if I ask you a question?" "Why, no,Ma'am," said the pilot. "What is it?" The little old lady said, "Did we land, or Were we shot down?" 18. After a real crusher of a landing in Phoenix, the attendant came on the horn, " Ladies and Gentlemen, please remain in your seats until Capt. Crash and the Crew have brought the aircraft to a screeching halt against the gate. And, once the tire smoke has cleared and the warning bells are silenced, we'll open the door and you can pick your way through the wreckage to the terminal." 19. Part of a flight attendant's arrival announcement: "We'd like to thank you folks for flying with us today. And, the next time you get the insane urge to go blasting through the skies in a pressurized metal tube, we Hope you'll think of US Airways." 20. A plane was taking off from Kennedy Airport. After it reached a comfortable cruising altitude the Captain made an announcement over the intercom, "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Welcome to flight number 293, non-stop from New York to Los Angeles. The weather ahead is good and, therefore, we should have a smooth and uneventful flight. Now sit back and relax... OH, MY GOD! Silence followed, and after a few minutes, the captain came back on the intercom and said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, I am so sorry if I Scared you earlier. While I was talking to you, the flight attendant accidentally spilled a cup of hot coffee in my lap. You should see the front of my pants!" A passenger in Coach yelled, "That's nothing. You should see the back of mine!"
We just refinanced, so is there any reason not to accept a new credit card or two? I was refinancing and stayed away from accepting any credit offers over the past 18 months. I never carry balances on my current credit cards. I use each of them to make sure they don't get canceled. Now that the refinancing is completed, I was thinking of taking advantage of a one-year, no annual fee offer for a Continental airlines credit card or Delta American Express card or both. I already have some miles with each airline. If I'm not planning to refinance or get another mortgage for a couple of years (at least), is there any reason not to get one or two credit cards? If I were to get 2 cards in the next few months, how much and for how long would my credit be affected as compared to just getting 1 card? Thanks for your knowledge.
Airline Cabin Announcements? All too rarely, airline attendants make an effort to make the in flight "safety lecture" and announcements a bit more entertaining. Here are some real examples that have been heard or reported: 1. On a Southwest flight 245 (SW has no assigned seating, you just sit where you want) passengers were apparently having a hard time choosing, when a flight attendant announced, "People, people we're not picking out furniture here, find a seat and get in it!" 2. On a Continental Flight with a very "senior" flight attendant crew, the pilot said, "Ladies and gentlemen, we've reached cruising altitude and will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and to enhance the appearance of your flight attendants." 3. On landing, the stewardess said, "Please be sure to take all of your belongings. If you're going to leave anything, please make sure it's something we'd like to have. 4. "There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only 4 ways out of this airplane" 5. "Thank you for flying Delta Business Express. We hope you enjoyed giving us the business as much as we enjoyed taking you for a ride." 6. As the plane landed and was coming to a stop at Ronald Reagan, a lone voice came over the loudspeaker: "Whoa, big fella. WHOA!" 7. After a particularly rough landing during thunderstorms in Memphis, a flight attendant on a Northwest flight a announced, "Please take care when opening the overhead compartments because, after a landing like that, sure as hell everything has shifted." 8. Airplane Itinerary Question: Departure/Arrival Times, Where I sit, etc.? It's been quite a long time since I've had the luxury of flying on a plane (I grew up travelling overseas with my parents as a child ), but it's been so long that I have no idea how it's done per se. Anyhow, the question is as follows: Depart: INDIANAPOLIS, 2:10PM Arrive: NEWARK EWR, 4:15PM Depart: NEWARK EWR, 6:25PM Arrive: ST JOHNS NFLD, 10:56PM Now with that information given, are the times presented based on the airport I arrive in, or is it a generalized time for where the person has bought the ticket from?? Like, is my wait in Newark 2 hours once I arrive before leaving to St.John's?? Next, I was told on my itinerary I could find what plane to search for to find where my seat would be.. I have googled every portion of my details and nothing has came up. Example: Flight: CO*3263 *Operated by EXPRESSJET AIRLINES INC doing business as CONTINENTAL EXPRESS Class: V Equipment: ERJ-145 Any help or kind explanations would put me at ease and be appreciated! To Renate: Yes, I do have my passport and everything is booked. However, my boyfriend up in St.John's , who lives there, booked it all, so I was still left in the dark as far as questions go because I wasn't the one on the phone booking! Hah. I'm looking very much forward to it. Thanks for the clarification also on the time! To Martian1174: Thanks a ton for that link and your answer :) Tirya: Bingo!, Thanks a ton for that link!
Mother of 20month old thrown off a plane!? Mother, toddler kicked off flight for toddler's chatter Thursday, July 12, 2007 (KMOV-TV) - A mother in Georgia is upset after she and her toddler got kicked off an airplane because her son was talking too much. She says a continental express flight attendant became annoyed when the boy said "bye-bye-plane" over and over again. The woman says the flight attendant leaned over and told her it was no longer cute. Then the mother says the attendant suggested a way for her to handle the situation. "She then said, 'You know, it's called baby benadryl. And I said, 'Well, I’m not going to drug my child so you have a pleasant flight," said the mother. The pilot turned around so they could exit the plane. (security escorted them off the plane!!) The mother says she later learned the flight attendant told the pilot That she had threatened her but says that never happened. The airline says it is investigating the incident. What the Heck is going on in the world???
United and Continental are difficult to work with to fly back to US out of Australia? Crazy, trying to leave Sydney for NYC on Saturday Aug 27th but United cancelled flight out of Sydney to LAX, equipment issues!, and Continental cancelled into Newark. Telling me Sept 5th. I explain to call center in India that there are flights out of Sydney to San Fran instead. finally get out maybe tomorrow, aug 29th but saying end of September first week to Newark. I ask about Philly, Boston, anywhere and then drive but they do not understand their own merging two airlines and US geography. Not their fault-not travel agents, call center not travel agents! The airlines are so bad normally, destroying their own industry, that when problem like this occurs it is system failure for a week. Imagine I am the highest level in these airlines as Elite! I can get home faster by days flying to Hawaii and then non-stop to Newark! At the fares ARE NOT lower without the good old travel agents. I will never fly again without booking through American Express, it is the only protection.
How long to you think the rich are going to float the bill before they leave the US with their money? Here is a list of companies that have already relocated. Everyday the list grows. Who will pay for the underprivileged when all we are is peasants waiting for the bread line to open. And dont forget, its not just the income tax from the company that we loose but also all the jobs that were lost and those taxes as well. Maybe Mccain had a point after all. Can I travel around the world using OnePass miles? I use an American Express and I can use it to transfer miles to my one pass account, I am getting married soon and for my honeymoon we wanted to travel around the world, using skyteam. which has continental, air france, aeromexico and many other good airlines. My question is, can I use my onepass miles to pay for this whole trip? even if I am not using Continental ? because for all my trip I will end up using Continental, Northwest Airlines, Air France and maybe Delta. my destinations are Los Angeles, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Paris, London, New York, Orlando, Miami. Thanks in advance for your answers!
were you shocked about the leak: How India blinked on U.S. inspections of PM's jet? Three years after issuing a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) on Boeing aircraft that India was buying for use by the Prime Minister and other VVIPs, the United States unilaterally foisted an amendment mandating intrusive annual end-use inspections of them by American personnel. That India eventually agreed to American monitoring of the aircraft is already known, even if the details were never made public. But the Embassy cables give an unprecedented insight into the tug-of-war that followed the demand. The cables also reveal the “creative wording” the two sides used, in which India agreed to give U.S. inspectors annual physical access to the LAIRCM on the planes but the politically explosive term of “on-site inspection” was replaced by “on-site review.” National Security Adviser M.K. Narayanan expressed his “appreciation for the text's creative wording, such as using ‘joint consultation to include an on-site review' in lieu of ‘on-site inspection'”, because of “political sensitivities… over the principle of on-site inspections.” http://www.thehindu.com/news/the-india-cables/article1565235.ece?homepage=true Isn't it clear that India is under total US dominaiton to the extent of humiliating the Govt? Is it strange that even Dr Kalam, the then President was frisked at our Airport by the American Airlines once: Times Now, Jul 21, 2009 NEW DELHI: In what is seen as a clear violation of protocol, former President APJ Abdul Kalam, who is exempt from security checks, was treated like an ordinary passenger and frisked by the ground staff of American airliner Continental Airlines at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) on April 24, 2009 at the insistence of the company's American boss.. ----------- The subservience of the Indian Govt to the US appears to recall the arrogance of colonial years under British, isn't it? An American says here ".. We are especially concerned about India violating the purchase agreement by modifying the aircraft to function as a military aerial command post.." How atrociously arrogant? Does he suspect a friendly govt who purchased their aircraft? These guys are arming the Pak who are mis using the same to hurt India, as well revealed already! Have they made any caution to check the misuse or provide penal provisions for its breaches? On the contrary, they are still dumping lethal arms on the rogue state! These US fanatics are least dependable. Their Govt would support rogue states, dictators and time servers, not genuine democratic countries and friendly ones! A dare bully who is sure to fall over time by the weight of its own follies!

"Check in with operating carrier"? I was just looking at my trip details on Orbitz and under one of my flights it said: "Operated by: EXPRESSJET AIRLINES INC DBA CO EXPRESS. Please check in with the operating carrier." and under another it said, "Operated by: COLGAN AIR DBA CONTINENTAL CONNECTION. Please check in with the operating carrier." What does this mean? It kind of worries me. I'm always nervous about connecting flights, and this makes me even more so. Help! :)
Anyone flying to see family this Christmas or what's it called? “This is a non-smoking flight. Anyone caught smoking in the washroom or anywhere else while in-flight will be asked to leave the airplane immediately.” “Thank you for flying Westjet. I hope our airline has met your expectations. If not, you definitely should lower your expectations before flying with us again.” On a Continental Flight with a very senior flight attendant crew, the pilot said, “Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve reached cruising altitude and will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and to enhance the appearance of your flight attendants.” On landing the stewardess said, “Please be sure to take all your belongings. If you’re going to leave anything please make sure it’s something we’d like to have.” “There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only four ways out of this airplane.” “Thank you for flying Delta Business Express. We hope you enjoyed giving us the business as much as we enjoyed taking you for a ride." Thankgiving. Sorry! Had a total blank!!!
Can anyone name any "airline within an airline"? Can anyone name any "airline within an airline" that are still operating, such as Song, Metrojet, United Express, or Continental Lite?
How long to you think the rich are going to float the bill before they leave the US with their money? #2 ? Here is a list of companies that have already relocated according to CNN. Everyday the list grows. Who will pay for the underprivileged when all we are is peasants waiting for the bread line to open. And dont forget, its not just the income tax from the company that we loose but also all the jobs that were lost and those taxes as well. Maybe Mccain had a point after all. 3Com 3M A Aalfs Manufacturing Aavid Thermal Technologies ABC-NACO Accenture Access Electronics Accuride Corporation Accuride International Adaptec ADC Adobe Systems Advanced Energy Industries Aetna Affiliated Computer Services AFS Technologies A.G.
