Airplane Itinerary Question: Departure/Arrival Times, Where I sit, etc.? It's been quite a long time since I've had the luxury of flying on a plane (I grew up travelling overseas with my parents as a child ), but it's been so long that I have no idea how it's done per se. Anyhow, the question is as follows: Depart: INDIANAPOLIS, 2:10PM Arrive: NEWARK EWR, 4:15PM Depart: NEWARK EWR, 6:25PM Arrive: ST JOHNS NFLD, 10:56PM Now with that information given, are the times presented based on the airport I arrive in, or is it a generalized time for where the person has bought the ticket from?? Like, is my wait in Newark 2 hours once I arrive before leaving to St.John's?? Next, I was told on my itinerary I could find what plane to search for to find where my seat would be.. I have googled every portion of my details and nothing has came up. Example: Flight: CO*3263 *Operated by EXPRESSJET AIRLINES INC doing business as CONTINENTAL EXPRESS Class: V Equipment: ERJ-145 Any help or kind explanations would put me at ease and be appreciated! "Check in with operating carrier"? I was just looking at my trip details on Orbitz and under one of my flights it said: "Operated by: EXPRESSJET AIRLINES INC DBA CO EXPRESS. Please check in with the operating carrier." and under another it said, "Operated by: COLGAN AIR DBA CONTINENTAL CONNECTION. Please check in with the operating carrier." What does this mean? It kind of worries me. I'm always nervous about connecting flights, and this makes me even more so. Help! :)

I notice catalogs from the 1900's have lots of small pistols, do you think this is the "penicillin" effect? You can buy "nostalgia" catalogs. For $20 or so, you can buy a Sears, or Montgomery Ward Catalog from 1897, or 1904, or 1907, or 1926. One of the things you notice is the pages and pages (like seven in every catalog) of cheap .22, 32, and .38 S & W (smaller than .38 Special) revolvers. Cheap handguns. In fact Sears sold so many, that they made their OWN revolver company to undersell Iver Johnson and H &R (which I thought were pretty cheap to start with). In the early 1900's you could buy a .32 revolver for a few bucks. I also have a "Arms of the World-1911" Nostaglia Catalog printed by Digest Books Inc. Alpha was the main gun company in Europe and supplied most of the guns to the civilian Continental Market. And you notice pages and pages of cheap "Velo Dog" revolvers AND that EVERY major pistol maker made a .25 auto. Browning, Clement, Bayard, Dreyse, Webley & Scott, Steyr, Schwarlose, Walther, N.Pieper, Jeiffeco, Royal, Express, Walman, Star, Alfa, and Colt, all made .25 autos. Not to mention they had these strange multibarrel guns made by Alfa, Reform, Unique, and Regnum. Why all the small guns? I have my own theory---Here it is. Nowadays with modern medicine, you are likely to survive a shot from a small pistol. In the days before ambulances, modern emergency rooms, high quality X-rays, blood banks, anti biotics and well trained surgeons and nurses, a gunshot wound, however small, was usually a death sentence. If you got shot in the gut with a .32 S & W Short or a .25 auto, you were going to die in agony of infection. So all a person had to do was pull out a gun, and most people of normal intelligence backed off. Do you think that is likely? I mean, they didn't have penicillin until after World War Two. If you got shot in 1910 (and people didn't wash their clothes too much back then--so very dirty cloth particles would be blown into the wound) you would probably get a nasty infection that the doctor's couldn't cure, right?
