Delta Airlines International Flights Knowledge Base

Would Delta Airlines be a good airline to use for international flights from JFK? I've heard Delta's international flights like to Europe are good. They offer lots of movies and entertainment options, have decent meals, and have good service. Is this true?
why do delta airlines international flights have crappy intertainment? i have been on 3 round trip flights to europe and they have all been on delta. They have also all been on 767-300ERs. On all three of the flights all they had was overhead T.Vs. I think that is ridiculous because going on an 11 hour flight with no personal T.Vs is just stupid. My sister took a flight from frankfurt to chicago and she went on a 747-400(not with delta) with personal T.Vs and everything. so my question is that why when i go all the way from Rome to Atlanta i have to go on a little 767 with no good intertainment
what's the baggage allowance for international flights on Delta airlines? i think it's like two bags but weight? 40lbs? i can't seem to get onto the Delta website and i don't think it's my internet connection because i can't on here. thanks a lot (: i tried refreshing the delta airlines page like a billion times but it still didn't load but yahoo answers is all good.

United or Delta for international flights? I'm flying from Houston to Seoul in a few months, and I've found great deals on flights.. however, I can't decide which airline to take. United and Delta are both pretty much equal in price, and I have no experience with flying on either one for an international flight. Has anybody flown both? If so, please tell me which you prefer and why. Thank you.

What amenities do you get on a delta international flight in coach? Delta has a really good deal on an international flight I am planning on taking. It is about half the price of the other airlines. I am curious how it is to fly Delta internationally. Any chance of personal movie screens? (I can never fall asleep). What meals do you get, if any? Any information would be helpful. Thanks in advance!
What's the international flight policy of Delta Airlines in regards to infants? I don't understand how I can book a ticket for an infant. We would have an international travel which requires a ticket according to the site's information but when I try to book a ticket, I can't see an option to buy one for an infant under 2 years. How can I buy one? Is there a special place on the plane where I have to sit with the baby? Monophoto: what do you mean by Delta discouraging delivering babies? We are not even going on a vacation. We are stationed overseas with the military... we somehow get to fly though cause we can't swim across the Atlantic.

Can you leave the airport on International flights? I am flying to Europe this summer and I have a 13 hour layover in New York (JFK Airport). My cousin lives in New York and she said she wants to hang out with me for the day. I am flying Royal Dutch Airlines, which is a subsidiary of Delta Airlines. Delta Airlines Connecting Flight time at the airport in Detroit? Hi, I will be traveling from Japan to Baltimore in April for 4 days. On the flight back I will have to change airplanes (both Delta Airlines) in Detroit. Now, I am really concerned if I can make it, since the airplane leaves only 58 minutes after the other one arrives. Only on the way back to Japan, on the flight to the USA I have enough time. I heard that my baggage is already checked through from Baltimore, but what about the security, I think I will need to go through security in Detroit again, since the second flight will be an international flight. Does someone can advice me if that will be enough time, otherwise I would need to change to an earlier airplane to Detroit, what would mean waking up really early and waiting for 4 hours in Detroit. :-(
SEA-TAC: domestic arrival area of Delta to the international arrival area of Alaska airlines? I'll arrive at Sea-Tac airport, domestic arrival terminal of Delta. I'll need to meet-up with someone at the international arrival terminal of Alaska Airlines (she'll be coming from Calgary, Canada). Our flight arrivals are 30 minutes apart. Are these two airlines in the same arrival area (even if one is dometic and the other is international)? Will it be difficult going from one to the other? Thanks
Doesn't your R&R leave start the day after you arrive to your final destination (international flights)? I have 18 days of R&R leave. We just came from Iraq to Atlanta and we are being told that we have to be back at a certain date. Now does that apply to those who are flying international? The lady at the counter working for Delta Airlines said that those that fly international have an extra day, so did the people at Sato Travel who issued me the tickets. Is this true?
What U.S. airlines staff their flights with foreign language speaking flight attendants? Can you tell me what other airlines do and are the flight attendants outsourced from outside the U.S.? How does the language program work?
Bringing a glass pipe on international flights? I recently bought a glass pipe at an antique market in China. I'm going to be flying back to the States through Delta airlines soon and I am afraid that if I put it in my suitcase, it'll break. Would it be alright if I stored it in my carry on? Would it cause any trouble? Or just store it in the luggage?
Baggage on Delta International Flight to Ecuador? Me and my girlfriend are visiting her family in Ecuador. She has lots of bags of stuff she wants to take to her family and she was telling me that I get TWO bags to check onto the flight and one carry on bag. The airline tickets were bought through a travel agency. I guess my question is this: Is it possible that if the tickets are bought through an agency, that i get two bags allowed for check-in or am i going to get charged extra because one of the fact that they have 2 bags for me to check in?
Does Delta Airlines Suck? Even though there was a slight hitch in their plan, a group of Boy Scouts who, while on their way to a national competition in Indiana, found themselves stranded in Atlanta, are now on their way. After exhausting all other options to find a flight that would get them to Indiana before 8 a.m. Sunday, the Scouts were able to rent a charter bus, which Delta will be covering the cost, said Carlos Santos, Delta spokesman. Although they bought their plane tickets in April, the group of 30 Boy Scouts and their eight chaperones were forced to rent the bus Saturday afternoon when the airline overbooked their flight. On their way to the National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) at Indiana University, the scouts and chaperones arrived in Atlanta shortly after 4 p.m. said Andrew Carranco, one of the chaperones. They were supposed to fly directly to Indiana from San Antonio, but when they arrived at San Antonio International Airport, they were bumped from their flight. Why? According to Carranco, their Delta flight was overbooked and they were being diverted to Atlanta. “When we got off the plane in Atlanta, we were told we should have never come here,” he said. According to Santos, it is rare that customers get bumped from flights. “Normally when that happens,” he said, “It is due to a number of issues. In the past few days there have been a number of thunderstorms in the northeast region and here in Atlanta that have caused flight delays and cancellations.” When the Scouts began planning for the trip, they intentionally purchased all 38 tickets under one person’s name to ensure they would have no problems. “The boys have spent hours preparing for this competition and spent thousands of dollars in costuming,” Carranco said. If they do not make it to Indiana by 8 a.m. Sunday morning, 21 of the 30 boys will be disqualified, he said. Delta officials initially offered to put the group up in a hotel for the night and on a first thing in the morning. However, that wold have caused them to get to Indiana by 10 a.m. Sunday, Carranco said. That would have been too late. The group tried feverishly to find other means of transportation. While Carranco was dealing with the Delta officials, another chaperone was on the phone with bus companies and the others were catering to the boys. “I have been extremely impressed with how well everyone has handled themselves,” said Carranco. “I have been doing this for awhile and have never seen everyone handle themselves so well.” They expect to arrive in Indiana around 3 a.m. The 611-mile trip is a nine and a half hour drive.

Carry On Weight Restrictions DELTA AIRLINES? I have just booked my flight to USA from UK with Delta Airlines. No where on the website does it state the weight restrictions for carry on baggage. I know most international flights are 18kgs but I need to be sure as I am only taking carry on, does anyone know the answer? I tried to contact Delta vis email but I HAD to choose from 5 options, none of which were my query!! I'll have to ring them, I just didn't want to be on hold for the rest of my life! ez80227 - That is checked baggage. I AM ONLY TAKING CARRY ON. Also, I am 30 years old. I have emailed Delta and there is NO weight restriction for carry on - just size restrictions.
What sort of steps do I need to take to power my Laptop on an Airplane? I have a Dell Inspiron 1545, I use the standard AC Wall Outlet for Power. International Co-share flights, Who do you check in with? Coming back from Prague to United States-had a glitch arriving there, all were Delta Flights, but last leg was operated by Czech Airlines. Want to make sure no problems getting back, have already spoken with Delta, Air France, conflicting information. Flight out is Air France flight #-states operated by Czech Airlines, check in the operating carrier. Do you go to Air France desk for tickets or Czech Airlines, will I receive all tickets back to states, ie , Prague to Germany, Germany to US(Delta Flight), Cinn, OH to Lex, KY (Delta flight operated by ComAir). Or will I have to check in with each operating carrier at each layover, baggage too? The airline companies are saying each other, some say check in each airport, some say will get all tickets to US, getting nowhere with the Airlines. Please help, as this is my husband and son doing the traveling, and just want them home safely, no glitches like the one in Zurich, which by grace of whomever let them on for the last leg.
(flying in 3 days. HELP!) Ipods in checked luggage on the plane? I secretly bought an ipod touch (my parent's don't know) so I need to hide it from my parents for various reasons. I'm planning to put my ipod in a lock box (a hollow book) and put it in my checked luggage. Will there be problems? Will they ask me to take it out so they can check what's inside my book? If I put the lockbox with my ipod in it in my carry-on luggage, is that a better option? However, won't the airport people tell me to take it out of my luggage? (then I would be found out. yikes) Also, I'm flying on the Delta Airlines (international flight from Asia to America).
How do I contact Delta Airlines to clarify a pet-related issue before I book a flight? I was planning on moving to Ottawa from Windsor in May 2011, and I want to buy a pet rabbit along the way. The rabbitry is in Munith, Michigan, and after acquiring the rabbit I was going to go to Detroit to catch a plane to Ottawa. I need to know how they handle international flights with a pet that was purchased only a short time before the flight, even if the rabbit is of an age acceptable for flying (8 weeks I believe). How would I contact Delta Airlines to inquire about this? Thanks in advance for your help, guys!
Delta airlines only offered us $200 vouchers for a 2 day mid flight delay. This is not Acceptable? There were 7 of us traveling international. We were stranded mid flight for 2 days. 2 of the travelers were stranded an additional day on the way home. I filed a complaint and they offer us 5 $200 vouchers. They offered the 2 people who were delayed 3 days nothing. I find this is unexceptable personally and legally. I have given up with delta but not the matter. Are tickets were all over $900. Who can I contact to get sufficent reimbersment.

What determines if an airport is considered Regional or International? I am a Flight Attendant for Delta Airlines and recently worked on a GPT (Gulf-port/Biloxi MS) to ATL (Atlanta GA) flight and noticed that they were calling GPT an international airport when in fact it doesn't have any scheduled airline service to an international city outside of the US. They also consider PFN (Panama City FL) an international airport. Pensacola has a way bigger airport big enough to use 757's and we call it a regional airport. Whats up with that?
Does Delta or American Airlines give you food? Do they give you food in economy class on international flights?

Which airline is better for international travel, Continental, or Delta? I'm looking at a couple of flights on each airline, and price is pretty close. I'm mainly looking at who has better in flight entertainment options, as my flight is at least 10 hours each way.
What should I expect (international flight)? This will be my first international flight and also my first flight with a connection. Details: Chicago 12:45pm>Atlanta 3:48pm 3h 07m Layover Atlanta 6:55pm>Madrid 9:15 am --------- Madrid 11:30am>Atlanta 3:50pm 1h 35 min layover Atlanta 5:25pm>Chicago 6:25pm (Delta airline on both flights) I'm not sure about the process. Especially when I connect from Atlanta to Madrid. Would I have to go through customs and bag checks again? What happens to my bags? I'm certain 3 hours will be long enough when I make the connection to Madrid. But, when I'm coming home, will 1h and 35 minutes be enough time to connect? I'm just a little confused. Basically what's going to happen? Thank you.
need direct customer service website for delta airlines? Need to request seating for disabled passemger on international flight
Stranded in Miami international, how do I get the airlines to stop ignoring me? I'm trying to go down to Peru for my spring break. I purchased two separate flights to do so. My initial flight into Miami with Delta Airlines was late in arriving to Miami due to weather reasons. When we landed I had to go out of the concourse to get my bag and then recheck in with my bag with Avianca for my next flight. Of course I missed this flight, since I had only thirty minutes after the sizable delay to do this. The bottom line is that Delta says they have no obligation to do anything for me since it is "weather related". Avianca has put me on lowest-priority standby, which they claim is more than I'm entitled to since my problem is "deltas fault". Of course, STA travel who I booked Avianca through says it's "my fault", since my layover time of 3.5 hours in Miami wasn't enough to account for delays. What are my rights here? What would you do? I've been in Miami for 36 hours now while the airlines do whatever they like with me (which inthis case is selling tickets for flights that im on standby for), while no one has to take the blame. Obviously the story goes deeper than this and involves verbal assurances by Delta during my delayed flight that I would be fine, and other passengers with the same problem and same flight getting confirmed seats with Avianca while I'm on standby. For the record I didn't buy this ticket. I was owed a favor by someone. I didn't feel it my place to complain that my itinerary is too disjointed. Secondly, when did this phase shift in consumer thinking with airlines happen? It's as if the consumers' rights have been pushed and pushed to the point that we find ourselves in a mode of thinking where we deserve to be treated like self-loading freight, while the airline gets every avenue of excuse to cheat you out of your ticket that you paid for. Why does this weather delay that so easily explains and exonerates the airline from any responsibility for my welfare in its resulting events, then serve to shift blame and rrsponsibility onto me for being in this predicament. There's a double standard here where the airline gets to avoid responsibility for reasons beyond their control while the end user somehow assumes responsibility and consequence of these actions. Forgot to add I AM a paying customer. I'm not sure how that has changed in all this.
Delta Airlines chaperone? 14 + 16 yearold traveling non stop MAN-JFK, could anyone please explain, in detail, the procedure of looking after minors on this international flight (I know there's a fee and that the 16 year old doesn't need a chaperone but the 14 year old does). And who looks after them on the plane and at the airport? Does someone take them through security or does a parent or guardian have to?
How many Pounds can you carry on an International flight per person???etc..? I'm flying on business class on Delta Airlines. My mom, my lil brother, and i are going together. I just wanted to know how many/heavy we can carry on, and the maximum dimensions of each carry on bag.
Is REI Jungle Juice 100 Spray Pump okay to bring on the plane? Can you put this product in your carry-on bags on international American Airlines and Delta flights? http://www.rei.com/product/669551 What about travel size perfume spray?
Airlines prohibiting carry-on luggage on Canada-US flights but still charging for checked bags. Seriously?!? I'm wondering if I'm missing something between perusing the CATSA website and the Delta Airlines one. But this seems absolutely ridiculous. I understand the need for CATSA to prohibit carry-on baggage to a large extent...I don't have to like it but I get it. But then the airline industry continues to charge for checked bags? I've never liked these fees and I think they're not "a way to compensate for fuel charges." That's what the overweight baggage fee is for. This is just a moneymaking scheme. I've refused to pay it for years and have packed light and carried on. But now since that's prohibited, I find it ridiculous that I'm paying for my checked bag because Canada is not considered an "international" destination, so there is no free baggage allowance. Excuse my rant, but...does anyone else find it ridiculous that flights from Canada ARE considered international, as long as they're prohibiting carry-ons, but as soon as we're going to check our luggage...oops! Now we're not international, and the baggage fees apply. SERIOUSLY?
do you like flying Delta and United? im supposed to be flying international soon, and i was supposed to go by Tam(my favorite airline), and make a connection in the Miami international airport. but there was some issues, and now i have to go throught the Chicago airport and its either gonna be a Delta flight or United(international btw). do you like those airlines?? is the Chicago airport hard?? tnx.
Can Someone Explain the International Connecting Flight Process? I will be traveling on Delta from Atlanta (ATL) to San Juan (SJU), then taking a connecting American Airlines flight to the British Virgin islands (EIS). When I land in SJU, will I have to go through customs, pick up my baggage, recheck my baggage and go through security? Or will I only have to deal with customs as my bag is routed to EIS? Depending on what the process is, how long of a layover will I need? I'm assuming the process will be the same coming from the British Virgin Islands to Puerto Rico on the return flight, but please let me know if I should reset my expectations. Thanks.
Delta Connection Academy? I want to work as a pilot for Delta Airlines someday. I wanted to know a couple things about this flight training school "Delta Connection Academy." For example, is it true that if you go to the Delta Connection Academy, you can only get a commercial license for small air crafts and regional/domestic flights? I know you have to start out slow, but eventually I want to fly bigger air crafts/international flights. I know that a lot of it depends on seniority, but can someone tell me how that works? And how much money will it cost to go to this academy? Please help. All answers greatly appreciated.
How is Delta airlines Mumbai - Atlanta - St Louis.? My mother is travelling via this route and its her first international travel.Has anybody travelled through this route before? Delta Airline Damaged my Luggage & has not delivered it ? HELP? I just flew home from an international flight and apon picking up my luggage in New York for customs inspections I noticed my brand new bag was ripped (the handles were torn down aprox 6 inches . In addition, this bag was marked as "handle with care, fragile" . It certainly was not handled with care. Since I was rushed to catch a flight (due to delta's delay.) I had to run across the airport to catch my connecting flight home after customs inspection I was told by Delta Airlines to file a claim when I got to Oakland CA airport. I attempted to do so , but my luggage never made it on my airplain. The lady at the counter said 1. She could not open a claim unless she saw the bag . 2. Delta does not cover handles (although it was ripped - not at the seam.) 3. She said and I quote " The bag was not leather and you should not expect items that are not leather to make it! " . She was incredibly rude and told me that once my bags are delivered (as they were not on the flight) I would need to drive them back to the airport for inspection. Meanwhile I have not even recieved my bags . I have my husbands meds in the suitcase, and my work clothes . How can Delta Justify not compensating me in any way ? I have to jump through hoops to 1. Get my doc to prescribe meds 2. I now have to pay for the bag to be repaired due to no fault of my own . 3. I do not have my work clothes and I will need to figure something out . What can I do ? Do I have any rights ? Please help.
Anyone ever travel International flight wih a Pug? I always would like to take my dog with me from US to Italy but I am so scared that he will get sick during the flight and also is a short nose dog he can only stay under your seat that is what Delta airlines suggested. Anyone had this problem befor me?
Is it possible to check-in hi-fi speakers in an international flight?? I have my B&W speakers (bookshelf) that I can't do without.. Do you think it would cause any problem to check em' in in a big luggage? I'm flying to europe with delta-airlines, (business).. Any idea anyone.?
Transferring miles between frequent flyers accounts? I have 20.900 British airlines miles and 18.900 delta miles, is there anyway to combine them to earn a free flight? I know I will need on BA at least 25k or 35k in Delta for international flights, does anyone knows where can I do this and how much will it cost me? Thank you!
Dellta Airlines Baggage Limits? In June 21st I am flying from Florida to San Diego I am flying with Delta Airlines. I tried to read a few on their page but its my first time flying in 9 years so I am rather scared, anyways, I was wondering what the limit was on my bags, I read that international flights get 2 checked bags under 50 pounds free of charge is my limit the same or smaller? Also what is some advice on flying?, I will be alone and its an 8 hour flight. thanks!
Will the airline feed us on our flight? Im going on Delta airlines. I looked at the websites and it said only meals will be served to mid. class if it is a flight to Hawii and Alaska or International. My flight is to Texas from New York. It is over 5 hours but it doesnt look it because of the time change. So will we get fed?
Re-checking luggage on an international flight? I am flying from Detroit to New York on Delta, and then going from New York to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific, and then Hong Kong to Jakarta, Indonesia on Cathay Pacific. Will I have to retrieve my luggage and go through security when I transfer to the international airline? If this is true, since I am flying on Cathay Pacific twice, would they just automatically transfer my luggage then as well? Thanks for the help and it is appreciated! :)
I'm being stalked and he bought the same flight home. Will an airline change my ticket for free? details : it's an international flight on Delta. has anyone heard of this problem before? Will they be sympathetic to my situation and transfer my ticket for no extra charge?
Can you take slim-fast on an international flight? Has anyone does this? Or do the airlines prohibit it? We're flying Delta to Ecuador this summer. I want to be able to manage my weight while I am there (won't be able to exercise) and wanted to take along my can of slim-fast powder and slim-fast meal bars. I mean in the luggage that goes under the plane, not the one that goes in the overhead compartment. :)
Do you guys know how to sue airlines if they charge you for no reason? Delta charged me over $600.00 for just cancelling part of International flight, not for changing. Thank all of you if you give me any clues.
who is actually managing the whole ground movements on an airport, when a aircraft arrives? i mean, let s imagine you fly for delta airlines... you took off from phoenix, and you are on short final to land at atlanta hartsfield.... the tower/ground will actually give you the place where you have to roll, but who will manage that the gate is free, that the follow-me is there, that ground crew is ready to unlagagge, that customs are ready (if its a international flight), etc.??
International travel - best airline? Who do you think has the best service and comfort for a long international flight? Continental, United, USAirways, Delta...etc...? Thank you lisa maree, but I guess I should explain this is a flight for my parents, who have never flown internationally, and they are going from OK to Narita, Japan. so I don't think your best are an option for them.....
What happened to this plane? We were driving into Toronto the other day, on the highway 401 which runs right beside Toronto International Airport and one of the landing runways. It's one of the buseist highways in North America so like always it was backed up. We were right near the airport and I was watching a Delta Airlines flight coming in to land. It had almost touched down when suddenly it aborted the landing, took the landing gear back in and took off into the clouds? Why did this happen? Im sure the people on the plane must have wondered what was going on. My best guess is that Air Traffic Controll told them to cancell because another plane was coming in too fast for a landing on the same runway. But does any one else have another theory?
international flight attendant? to be one for an american airline like united, delta, or american.. do you need to know a second language to get those international flights? or do they just base that on seniority
I booked an international flight on expedia.com and need to change it? The flight I have currently (one way) costs $225 and leaves on Dec. 30 with Delta, I want to change to leave on Jan. 8 which costs $154 with another airline, whats the best way to go about changing a flight and how much would i expect it to cost
Current Events: How and why would you not believe that 9/11 was a Conspiracy? I have enough evidence to supply you with. To start, I was a Former Senator of Illinois. Many of my 9/11 Conspiracy Knowledge come from there... Here are my evidence. Please answer my question when you are done. I will list a few and tell me you believe or not. 9/11 - An Inside Job? An Inside Job? US officials are compiling what one called "growing" evidence that other hijackings may have been planned for September 11. Officials from both the government and the airline industry tell TIME Magazine that a knife-like weapon was found on each of two separate Delta Airlines aircraft later that day, although neither plane took off due to the nationwide grounding after the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks on hijacked United and American airlines planes. Investigators are not yet certain how these weapons came to be on board the aircraft. But they increasingly believe that the weapons may have been prepositioned by accomplices for use by others. As one US official told TIME, "These look like inside jobs." 9/11 Security Courtesy of Marvin Bush Marvin P. Bush, the president’s younger brother, was a principal in a company called Securacom that provided security for the World Trade Center, United Airlines, and Dulles International Airport. Numbers suggest terrorists targeted flights The numbers appear out-of-whack, thankfully. And so, a lingering question is why the passenger loads on the four planes hijacked in U.S. skies are being described by industry officials as "very, very low." "You have to think it was by design, that they didn't want to go on a flight with the chance of the passengers working against them,'' said Dave Esser, head of the aeronautical science department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. "If you've got the threat of a bomb or a gun you can hold people at bay. These guys were strong-arming people with box cutters and knives. "They wanted the numbers to be on their side.'' And they were, staggeringly so. Three of the transcontinental flights departed for the West Coast with at least two-thirds of the seats empty. Only 37 of the 182 seats were occupied -- including four by hijackers, at least two in first class -- as United Airlines' Flight 93 left Newark for San Francisco. The only flight that was even half full proved to be American Airlines' Flight 11, a wide-body Boeing 767 that left Boston bound for Los Angeles with 81 passengers. All 9/11 airports serviced by one Israeli company ICTS is [...] an Israeli owned company, and [...] it sells services to every airport from which the hijacked planes operated, including security, sometimes through wholly owned subsidiaries like Huntleigh USA Corporation. It has been suggested that the incredible feat of hijacking four aircraft without a single arrest at the gate would require the resources of a nation-state. This is even more true with the revelation that at least one gun had managed to be aboard a hijacked plane. One company had automatic inside access to all of the airports from which hijacked planes departed on 9-11, and to the airports used by Richard Reid, the shoe bomber. An Israeli company. One that Mossad agents could easily find employment with without the management knowing who they were or what their purpose really was. But one thing is clear. By virtue of the Odigo warning, someone knew enough about the planned attacks to warn Odigo before the planes had even departed the airport gates, yet they did not call the Israeli security company at the airports which could have stopped the flights from leaving. Bush Senior Met With Bin Laden's Brother on 9/11 On 11 September, while Al-Qaeda's planes slammed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the Carlyle Group hosted a conference at a Washington hotel. Among the guests of honour was a valued investor: Shafig bin Laden, brother to Osama. http://whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLES/govknow.html Okay then..9/11 - The Basic Questions 1. Why did passengers or crewmembers on three of the flights all use the term boxcutters? 7. Where are the flight recorders? 8. Why were the FISA warrants discontinued? 9. What about media reports that hijackers bought tickets for flights scheduled after Sept. 11? 24. Why did none of the 19 hijackers appear on the passenger lists? 25. Why would devout Muslims frequent bars, drink alcoholic beverages and leave their bibles? 26. Why would the hijackers use credit cards and allow drivers licenses with photos to be zeroxed? 27. Why did the hijackers force passengers to call relatives? 28. How did the hijackers change the flight plan without law enforcement or the military try to stop them? 29. How did a hijackers passport miraculously appear near the WTC? Who found it and what time? 30. How could the FBI distinguish between "regular" Muslims and hijacker Muslims on those flights? 31. Why was there not one "innocent" Muslim on board any of these flights? 32. Did someone go through the passenger lists looking for Muslim names and label them as hijackers?
How long must I allow when making a connecting flight at LAX from Tokyo? I am considering booking two separate itineraries; one one would have me arriving from Tokyo at 9 am, and my next would have me departing for Nashville at 10:50 am. Would 1 hr. 50 min. be enough to clear customs, recheck my bags, and make my next flight (on a different airline)? The international leg is on Delta, and the domestic is on Frontier.
Can I transfer flights in 48 minutes? I am flying from Chicago to Puerta Vallarta in middle of august with Delta airlines all the way. However, I only have 48 minutes to transfer... I am departing from Chicago O'Hare at 5:40am and then I arrive in Atlanta where I need to get on another plane in 48 minutes which will fly to Puerto Vallarta.. I am not expecting delays at O'Hare at 5:40am.. Can I make it in 48 minutes? How do I change terminals in Atlanta from domestic to international??
Which airlines have you used? Would you recommend them and why/why not? I have used United between Australia-US - excellent service. Qantas and Virgin Blue in Australia - no probs. Virgin are particularly friendly. Jetstar in Australia - cancelled my flight but gave a full refund, several months prior to travel. Delta in the US - cancelled my flight, didn't give a refund, didn't find me another flight. Left an international tourist stuck in an airport. Trashed my luggage. Late departure. Told me I can change planes in 15mins (I told them that was impossible!). In flight "service"... what?
First trip through JFK. Overnight layover. Multiple airlines. Need some recommendations.? I fly into JFK at 10:30 at night on NWA and fly out at 8:00 am on Delta (out of the country). 1. Is there anywhere to sleep at JFK? Do I want to sleep there? 2. Do I have to claim my bags and check in again in the morning? 3. If I get a hotel, how early do I need to be back at the airport for an 8:00am international flight? Any other information you have that would be helpful would be greatly appreciated.

Question about international flight/JFK airport/delta airline? So I'm going to have a flight from LAX to JFK(New York City) to Bucharest, Romania. 1) If the flight leaves at 6:20 am around what time should I be at LAX, knowing that I am a Romanian citizen and not and American one? 2)Do JFK terminals have plugs in the waiting area? 3)How is the food/flight on Delta airline? Details please! Please also add how the entertainment is on flight. By the way, I'll be flying in economy class/coach.
Which airline/route should I choose? So I'd like to fly to London over New Years and have narrowed down to two flight choices : 1.) United 0922 from IAD to LHR and 2.)Delta Airlines 3 JFK to LHR Now, United tickets are $50 cheaper but I've been reading some scary reviews about them and how their stock prices are at an all time low. I've never flown them before, I read the reviews here : http://www.untied.com/ I was wondering if anyone could recommend one over the either either from experience on having flown this route or a recent experience on flying United on an international flight. I appreciate your inputs!
Which is the BEST airline? Hello folks- I will be taking a business trip to Bangalore. It's a (around) 30-hour flight from the US. Since my employers are paying, I can choose my itinerary. I want to know the most COMFORTABLE airline with good food. I can not stand American/United/US because the seats are miniscule and the flight are always jam-packed. I'm looking at various international airlines including : Delta, Air India, Jet Airways, Lufthansa. But I will go US/United/American if I absolutely have to. Oh yeah, it'll be coach.
time limit on changing flight...? I read on cheapticket that you are able to change flight after ticket are issued depend on which plane company you will be flying. FROM CHEAPTICKETS.COM Is there a time limit on changing a flight? American Airlines: If an American passenger with a non-refundable ticket wants to exchange a ticket, he or she will have a full year from the date their original ticket was issued to reschedule without losing the value of their tickets, provided they cancel their reservations prior to their scheduled departure time. Tickets must be reissued and travel must commence within one year of the date the original ticket was issued. Continental Airlines: If a Continental passenger with a non-refundable ticket wants to exchange a ticket, he or she will have a full year from the date their original ticket was issued to reschedule without losing the value of their tickets, provided they cancel their reservations prior to their scheduled departure time. Tickets must be reissued and travel must commence within one year of the date the original ticket was issued. United: If a United passenger with a non-refundable ticket wants to exchange a ticket, he or she will have a full year from the date their original ticket was issued to reschedule without losing the value of their tickets, provided they cancel their reservations prior to their scheduled departure time. Tickets must be reissued and travel must commence within one year of the date of the original ticket was issued. US Airways: If a US-Air passenger holds a Non-refundable ticket and needs to change their reservation it is necessary that the ticket be used/changed prior to the current Ticketed Travel Date or the ticket will have no value. Questions for a flight attendent!? I am 17 years old, and believe it or not my dream is to become a flight attendent! Its what i REALLY want to do...i have been planning on becoming one since my freshman year. I am working in customer service jobs, i am going study German for a year, and i have been saving up money to get myself started. I really dont have another plan to fall back on. College is out of the question and i cant think of anything i would want to be that doesnt require college...so my question is, will i have a good chance to becoming a flight attendent? I watched a special on the training they go through, and it said that only 2% actually make it. That worried me ALOT. i mean i know i will try my hardest and try to be as qualified as possible, but i am still nervous that maybe i wont even get past the interviews. Can someone tell me what i should be expecting for the interview and how hard it is to become an attendent. i think i will apply to united, delta, or another international airline
2 Questions (about JFK airport? 1) In terminal 3 JFK airport, is there like a restaurants, shops, or food courts ? 2) Our flight comes from Seattle, and our next flight is international, do we need to check in again, do we need to take our luggage. We are talking delta airlines, for both trips.
MD 80 crash/fire in Madrid.2 crashed in 1997 out of 934 MD80 in service. Is this crash rate unacceptably high? Operational history In August 2008, a total of 934 MD-80 aircraft (all variants) were in airline service, including American Airlines (304), Delta Air Lines (118), Alitalia (74), Scandinavian Airlines System (44), and Allegiant Air (35). Other operators fly fewer numbers of the type.[4] 16 August 2005; West Caribbean Airways MD82; near Machiques, Venezuela: The aircraft was on an international flight from Panama City, Panama to Martinique when the crew reported to air traffic control that the aircraft was experiencing some kind of engine problem and requested a descent from cruising altitude of 33,000 feet down to 14,000 feet. The crew later reported that both engines were experiencing problems and that the aircraft was not controllable. All eight crew members and 152 passengers were killed. Fatal Events for Airlines from Latin America and the Caribbean 16 September 2007; One-Two-Go Airlines MD82; Phuket, Thailand: The aircraft was on a scheduled domestic flight from Bangkok (DMK) to Phuket (HKT). After landing, the aircraft skidded off the runway, impacted several trees, and caught fire. There was reportedly heavy rain and poor visibility at the time of the crash. There were at least 89 deaths, including 85 of the 123 passengers and five of the seven crew members. Fatal Events Involving Asian Airlines 30 November 2007; Atlasjet MD83; near Keciborlu, Turkey: The plane was on a domestic flight from Istanbul to Isparta when it disappeared from radar screens. The crew had requested permission to land shortly before the aircraft crashed in mountainous terrain near the town of Keciborlu, about 12km (7.5 miles) from the Isparta airport. All seven crew members and 50 passengers were killed. Description: Audio (MP3), Video (MP4, WMV, YouTube) Fatal Events Involving MD80 Series Aircraft Fatal Events Involving Atlasjet 20 August 2008; Spanair MD82; Madrid, Spain: The aircraft crashed shortly after attempting a takeoff for a scheduled domestic flight from Madrid to Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. Early reports indicate that one of the engines caught fire during the takeoff, the aircraft became airbore, and that the crew set the aircraft down in a area to the right of the departure runway. The aircraft broke up and caught fire. Should read 2 MD 80s crashed in one year, 2007 (not 1997).
Serves you right?; British Airways posts record loss...is this on account of them becoming 'London Airways'? Used to love the MAN-JFK service which used to arrive in New York in the mid-afternoon. There were many passengers who were happy they didn't need to spend a packet to get to Heathrow, from say, Leeds, Liverpool or anywhere else in the North. So good I used it half a dozen times, but as soon as BA decided to have their continental flights leave from Heathrow, Gatwick or elsewhere within a 40 miles radius of the capital, they lost respect from the rest of Britain. Now, from Ringway, Delta, Virgin and even Pakistan International Airlines (from Karachi), with a couple other airlines will take you to the US - and not only New York. And to think, BA originally told us outside the noose (known to one and all as the M25) that continental flights outside London were not 'called for'. Maybe they will find a reason for their loss, with the usual words 'security' and 'terrorism' getting a fair airing, but could be their yearning to become 'London Airways', with other airlines quickly taking over elsewhere has been cause for their moaning of 'loss'.
Questions about regional airlines pay? i want to become a pilot for a regional airline after i go to flight school.the only problem is that i have calculated how much money i would get if i got the minimum of 70-75 hours.I would make around $1550-1650,and thats without taking out taxes.so i have been estimating that they take $200-300 out on taxes.then rent would cost you around $750-900 depending on where you live, then you have your car insurance, health insurance, your payment on the flight school loan, food, car payment, gas, and utilities.with what i have calculated making that much wouldn't cover all those expense. so here are my questions: 1.on average how many hours do you work a day? 2.how many days do you work in a month? 3.do they pay for your health insurance?or at least part of it? 4.what exactly does this mean? "Per Diem: Domestic: $1.50/hr International: $1.50/hr" i am a 17 years old who will be graduating this summer and hopefully going to either the Delta Connections Academy or Jet University. also could you give me some good websites to and state whether you are or were a pilot?thanks!
Why aren't airlines required to track or report medical incidents? Delta: Body Of Woman, 61, Found In Plane Bathroom ATLANTA - Flight attendants discovered the body of a 61-year-old woman in the restroom of a plane shortly before the flight landed in Atlanta Wednesday morning, a spokeswoman for the airline said. It was unclear how Michaele O'Neil Carnahan died, and how long she was in the restroom. The crew on the Los Angeles-to-Atlanta flight noticed the restroom was occupied on final approach, just before Flight 950 touched down at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport at 5:51 a.m., spokeswoman Keyra Johnson said. Atlanta police were notified and met the plane at the gate, Johnson said. "Delta extends its condolences to the family and commends our flight crew and medical professionals onboard who handled this incident with the utmost professionalism and respect for which they are known," spokeswoman Betsy Talton wrote in an e-mail. The body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in suburban Atlanta for an autopsy scheduled for Thursday, said GBI spokesman John Bankhead. Authorities were awaiting the results to determine the cause of death, Bankhead said. Bankhead said Carnahan was on her way from her home in Ventura, Calif., to Florida for a wedding. Atlanta police stationed at the airport respond to calls about dead bodies on airplanes a couple of times a year, said Officer Eric Schwartz, a police spokesman. Talton said the situation was rare, but flight crews are trained to handle "a number of situations on board." Airlines are not required to track or report the medical incidents they handle, so an exact tally of in-flight deaths is hard to determine. MedAire, an Arizona-based company that staffs doctors on the ground to advise flight crews in a medical emergency, counted 89 deaths for the flights they handled in 2006, which represents about one-third of the world's commercial flights. If the death rate is similar for the rest of the flights, annual deaths on airplanes could exceed 260. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080730/ap_on_re_us/delta_body_found;_ylt=AuyhYhcQNCdAadNDXYlEuLgDW7oF

How much would you pay to offset -- literally -- the impacts of flying? California's San Francisco Airport is on its way to becoming the first in the nation to offer passengers a chance to purchase carbon offsets to mitigate the impacts of their flight. San Francisco's Airport Commission has authorized the program, which will involve a $163,000 investment from SFO, but is still working out the details with 3Degrees. "We'd like people to stop and consider the impacts of flying," said Steve McDougal, executive vice president for 3Degrees, a San Francisco firm that sells renewable-energy and carbon-reduction investments. Airport kiosks will offer the offsets to passengers, and although prices have not been set they could be as low as $2 or as high as $36 for international flights. Michael Wara, an expert in this area and an assistant professor at Stanford Law School says that offsets ought to be registered after they have been sold, with guarantees that they will not be used again. Several airlines have been offering this service for nearly a year -- Continental, Delta, Virgin Atlantic and Qantas all offer passengers a means to satisfy their conscience and benefit the environment. What do you make of this experiment, and how long do you think it will be before other airports offer passengers a similar deal? http://greeninc.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/01/02/offsets-in-the-air-in-san-francisco/ http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/12/24/MNIR14PSQF.DTL http://www.3degreesinc.com/
Help Transit at LAX for first timer? I will be arriving at LAX (for the first time) with my almost 2 year old boy at 7:50 PM (via China Airlines at Tom Bradley International Terminal) and we need to go to Terminal 5 for our 10:30PM flight to Orlando by Delta. Is that enough times for us to get our bags, clear custom and go to terminal 5 without missing our connecting flight? Yes I'm a US Permanent Resident & my son is a US citizen
Why is there such a price difference in a ticket from japan than a ticket to japan? I am going to be in japan for a year starting this september, and I have been trying to find out which would be better, a round trip or two one way trips. so far i have found out that with a round trip, I would have to call in and move the dates (since you can only book 11 months in advance according to delta and american airways) to get a full SEP 09 - AUG 10 dates if i bought it today. Switching international flight dates cost 200-250 dollars each time, and they did not reccomend that, nor does my wallet. I found a one way from ATL to Tokyo, Japan for about 600 dollars.... pretty reasonable. And so I check to see what the other why around would be about, and it's 2000 dollars!!!! Is there some reason it cost so much to travel from Tokyo to Atlanta, but then by just switching the destinations (I didn't even change the dates) it only costs 600 for a ticket? I tried going to Japan Airlines website in english to find ticket prices through there, but the search engine never gave me a price... yen or dollars. Any ideas? If it cost 600+2000 for two one way tickets, then i DEFINATELY don't mine paying a 250 fee just to have my date moved for a 1200 dollar round trip ticket. Any suggestions? Or answers as to the high ticket price?
First time international flyer- anyone familiar with the Mexico City Airport? Hey everyone! As a graduation present, I am going to my uncle's Bed and Breakfast in Mexico. My plan is to fly to Atlanta to Mexico City, and then from Mexico City to Tuxtla Gutierrez. A few questions: I am using Delta for the first leg, and most likely I will use Mexicana for the secong leg. Since I will be using different airlines and booking off of their respective websites...will i have to recheck my baggage in Mexico City? If I do check my bags...how much time should I allow between flights? I've heard the airport was confusing and large. Will I have any problem finding my terminal and gate? I've had 5 years of Spanish, and am planning to print out some airport terms in case I need them. Will there be a lot of people or a customer service desk that can help me out if I need it? Most of all...how is security? My mom's freaked out because I'm an 18 year old girl. Will I be safe there? Can anyone give me any tips? Thanks!

Why does it take so long to become a pilot and be able to sit in the flight deck of a 757,767,777? Well I want to become an airline pilot someday. I want to be able to make a good amount of money to provide for a family but the only pilots who make the good amount of money fly for airlines like united or delta but they fly the huge jets like the 757,767 or the 777. I don't see why become one if my kids are already gone before that. I don't care just about money I also want to become on because I love planes and I love travel and I am at awe every-time I drive past Salt Lake international airport and see these huge jets coming in for landing. But my question is why does it take so long before you can finally sit in the flight deck and pilot one of these planes. Like I was told most pilots flying these planes are in their fifties why cant you become the first officer of one of these jets when your in your late thirties?
