Southwest Airlines career? Flight attendant advice from current or past flight attendants.
Southwest Airlines pilots, do they have a future of flying larger aircraft? Pilots that have been with Southwest Airlines for many years, and have over 20,000 flight hours, are they ever able to fly larger aircraft for a different airline? Or are they most likely to keep flying 737s for Southwest? Do they mind this, flying the same aircraft type mostly their entire flight career?
What Should I Do To Become A Commercial Pilot For Southwest Airlines? I am currently 13 years old and want to have a career in commercial airline transportation. I would like to know what I should do to prepare for the career like Highschool classes I should take. I know you don't have to go to college just flight school , but I would like to know of a good college course to take because employers look for the better qualified person. I DO NOT WANT TO JOIN THE MILITARY AND GET A FREE EDUCATION THROUGH THEM. There is nothing wrong with the airforce, but with a war going on I don't want to risk it. Also what is the price range that it will be costing me? I have been looking around and it looks like $60 grand for flight school. Please help me decide. =Þ

Until I moved to the United States, I discovered that anything is possible if you pursuit your dream, and I guess that is the moral of the American dream. The best way to predict the future is to invent it. I am inventing my future, and just as I imagined as a little boy, will be up in the sky, living my life in the cockpit. I hope after finishing reading this you’ll have a picture of who I am - a man with a dream for this once a life-time unique opportunity and a desire to make a different in aviation industry. Thank you for your time and your consideration.

Southwest Airlines Job Question? Hello Everyone, I am a 20 year old college student who wants to work at my local airport. I love aviation and Southwest has a hub at this airport. Does anyone know where I can go about to get a part-time job with Southwest. On their website, they have job listings for full-time career jobs. But I am looking for anything from cleaning the plane up, to de-icing just anything involved in the aviation field. Please if anyone could help that would be awesome. Thanks!
Per Head DA Susan Reed vs Southwest Airlines, is San Antonio going to sweep Susan Reed's crime "under the rug"? A Short Editorial Per The District Attorney Susan Reed's Involvement With Stolen Airline Tickets We are told by the Media that Head Bexar County District Attorney Susan Reed claims total innocence and ignorance of being a party to the scheme to use a portion of the 5600 stolen Southwest Airline tickets for her own personal use, and has instead implicated her trusted Chauffeur/Bodyguard/Investigator, Mark Gudanowski, as her unwitting Scapegoat in this crime. As an experienced "Investigator", one would readily believe that Mr. Gudanowski would have quickly become aware of the significance of this multitude of "Free" airline tickets, as would have an experienced prosecutor such as Susan Reed. I ask you this question, people: Do you honestly believe that such an excuse or defense would work for YOU in Her Court??? Does a true proponent of Justice (NOT Reed's brand of "Just-us" for San Antonio's financially- privileged and powerful!) actually need a Chauffeur/Bodyguard in our fair city? Is Reed a part of the Judicial System, or the Mob? Corruption has long run rampant among various members of San Antonio's Law Enforcement and Judicial System, following the trends set long ago in its mother country of Mexico, and Reed has stoically and steadily climbed the rungs of San Antonio's political ladder, furthering her political career at the expense of many of us, her helpless and hapless Pawns, the common everyday people, who simply cannot afford the high-priced attorneys and/or discreet "Pay-Offs" that are necessary to "win" in her Courts. Countless San Antonians have suffered having their families ripped apart and more often than not destroyed due to Reed's personal brand of "Just-Us". I should know; my beloved wife was one of her innocent victims, a decade ago. She will rest in peace when Reed rests in prison. It is only fair, is it not? A crime is a crime, no matter who you are. The greatest crime of all, however, would be to NOT seek a Grand Jury indictment against Susan Reed for HER crime, exactly as would be done should you or I be the guilty culprit. I leave that decision to you, the people of San Antonio. Know your enemy, Susan Reed: Gerald "Wolf" Faris aka Lord Sesshomaru 801 River Road, #511 Boerne, TX - 78006 (830) 428-8901

Southwest Pilot Career? Do Southwest Airlines Pilots fly a 737 variant their whole career like the 737-500 r, unless they request a change to the 737-700... or does each flight offer different aircraft variants? I am not asking about the future, but now.
Southwest Pilots Flying All Variants? Do Southwest Airlines Pilots fly the 737-500 variant for their whole career, unless they request a change to the 737-700, or does each flight offer different aircraft variants.
difficulty of landing a commerical airline career after airforce? after serving in the air force as a pilot is it competitive and hard to get a job as a pilot for commercial airline companies such as UPS, DHL, and Southwest? does it depend on what type of jet you flew? fighter pilot vs. bomber etc? thanks thanks for the answer but how about after 10 years from now? same situation? better? worse? thanks
I aspire to be an airline pilot particularly for southwest but do not know how to get started!? The title pretty much says it but i will explain more. Commercial Aviation is a passion of mine that i just cant ignore! Im 23 and in college working toward pursuing a medical career but i love the airline industry and want to be a part of it! I want to fly and would love to fly for southwest in the future. i just want some advice and guidence from either SWA pilots or other airline pilots as i have looked into flight schools but am just more confused on how to get started and what path i should take to achieve my dream.
NWA & Delta merge domino effect? I watched a video saying if they merge, then lower-fare careers like Southwest will not be able to compete and will be forced to merge with other airlines etc etc. Eventually, there will be like 3 super mega careers and everything will fall apart, with airlines constantly competing, routes changing, ppl losing their jobs etc. WTF will this force other airlines to merge? And could this affect me in the future?
Would Kyla Ebbert have any trouble getting into a top law school such as Harvard or Yale? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyla_Ebbert A story was released today on AOL about Kyla Ebbert, a 23 year old student who was asked to "cover herself up" by Southwest Airlines who deemed her miniskirt offensive to other passengers, getting a gig on Playboy. She also did a promotional for Virgin Airlines with Richard Branson. Her career goal is to be an attorney. Regardless of her academic merit, is she someone that a top 10 law school would admit? Would someone like her be able to get into any top firm? I simply can't see her unemployed in the legal job market. There's nothing wrong with hiring her technically. It just shows that justice isn't quite as blind as it seems.
What kind of things make people change their minds about a certain career? My friend talked about being a dentist when she was in high school. She enrolled in college and was still planning on being a dentist. She looked at the classes she would need to take to get into dental school and one of them was human anatomy. Her mother just had to say it. She said "they save the heads for the dental students". So my friend ended up majoring in business. I read the story about Southwest Airlines finding a large package of human heads on their plane yesterday, they were not marked properly and it freaked the workers out. Made me think of my friend's career change.
Young professional with a dream but don't know what to do. HELP HELP? Hi ladies and gentlemen, I have a question that I would like the general public to answer or to give me some advice when it comes to career change. Ever since I was in high school, I always dreamed of traveling far away places. And also, I have a big love for the aviation industry. Yes after 9/11, things for this lovely industry went down, in terms of pays, benefits, and job security. None the less, this major infatuation with the Airlines industry is still burning inside of me and now that I have graduated high school some 5 years ago, I am still yearning for it. As of right now, I am employed at Humana in the sales department, I love it, love taking calls, love talking about medicare plan, and yes love the big commission check we do get and so on. Although I have not been working that long with Humana maybe 4 months going on 5. I love my team, my sup is a true honest leader and I love going to work every day. In terms of base pay, uhmm Humana is not bad compare to other Insurance companies. But I was reading int he news that Southwest Airlines, is about to start hiring flight attendants soon; and always heard that they are the best paid in the industry. I also heard about Allegiant Airlines as well, I did go to their open house passed the group interview but did not make it through the face to face one. But so far I heard they do pay better in comparison to the major Airlines like Delta AA and so so on. So can someone tell me what should I do, should I follow my heart and take on my long time wanted career or should I just stay with Humana and possibly work my way through the stressful but fun life of selling insurance plans to grandmas and grandpas across the nation. Or should I wait till I am done with college and let the economy get better before I make any drastic move in my career life. Looking forward to hear from Flight Attendant at Southwest, or all over the industry, economist, and current Employee of Humana who might be reading these questions. Big love to all, KLM

Do pilot's generally fly with the same co-pilot? And Scheduling Question? Do pilot's generally fly with the same co-pilot? I would guess that they would want this to be true, find a good partnership between a pilot and co-pilot and have them fly their career together. My Questions: Do pilot's ever fly with the same co-pilot? And if so how often? Do airlines try to place pilot's with people they have flown with? How does scheduling work? Do pilot's just get it at random? Do they go online to like a website and pick the routes they want? What is the average work week for a Southwest Airlines pilot? PLEASE ANSWER ALL OF THESE QUESTIONS AS IF THE AIRLINE WAS SOUTHWEST AIRLINES, OR UNITED.
What type of degree is best for the military to become a Officer.? I wish to pursue a career in aviation I'm 19 and have been in college for 1 year now, just getting my general education done. Best Career To Have Before A Railroad Conductor Career? Since The Railroad Industry Is Not Hiring Much, I Have Always Had Other Jobs I Want To Do, And Was Wondering Which Job You Would Recommend: Waste Management Residential Driver/Commercial Driver Construction Worker (Equipment Operator, Laborer, Etc): Mining/Construction Southwest Airlines Baggage Handler The Following Jobs Are Jobs I Want To Do Before I Get On With The Railroad, And I Also Like Each Of These Jobs(Never Worked On One Of These Jobs), And Was Wondering Which One You Would Recommend? Career Opportunities? I currently am taking a junior level management course, Organ. Behavior and Leadership, and we have been going over types of businesses and managers. I'm also majoring in Business Management. I work at Chili's as an expeditor/QA and my previous experience before this was a Sales Manager at Blockbuster. I don't want to fall into working for a company like Wal-mart, but I do want to have the opportunity to manage a great team. We watched a video in class over Southwest Airlines, and I fell in love with the atmosphere. I've considered Chili's management, but in this point in my life I don't have a pinpointed answer or avenue to go down. My interests are little since I work/school all the time. My only other love is working out (amateur strongman). Can someone give me a rundown of ideas that my degree would be good for? It's coming from a small college in East Texas. I want to know what my opportunities are. I don't want to be stuck like 87% of America. Thanks!

I am a high-school student and was wondering what do they make from a few years outta school. What is a common salary? How to get a gate agent or ramp agent job? Hey everyone. I'm 18, going to community college full time. Unfortunately, I live in San Diego, so the large/busy airport scene isn't that great. But, I really want to try getting a gate/ticket agent or ramp agent job. I already checked multiple airline's career sites, and nothing for San Diego for either position. Do the airlines post these jobs on other sites or forums or anything? Also, for ramp agent positions, do the airlines hire their own agents at airports like San Diego Intl? I'm sure Southwest does, because it's their focus city and they have a crap load of flights out of here. But for all the other airlines, do they have a company that staffs ramp agents? Does anyone know the name of these companies? Same with ticket/gate agents? Thanks! I really am trying hard to find these positions haha
How can I job shadow an airline pilot? For my senior project next year we have to do a job shadow. I really want to shadow an airlines pilot, since that is the career field I want to enter. I have my private pilots license already, lol. Anyways, I know I won't be able to shadow them in the cockpit, but is it still possible to shadow them on the ground and preparing for the flight and then at the destination wrapping up the flight ,etc.? I think Southwest or Alaska would be the best airline to do this, since they seem the most friendly and helpful. Any idea who to contact regarding this? I still have a year to do this, I just want to start planning early. Thanks.
Preparing to be a flight attendant? I'm currently a Sophomore in High school. I know exactly what I want as my career. A flight attendant for a major airline (Not southwest, jetblue (Etc). I know that there is alot of competition, so what are some things I can do to stick out. I speak English, French, and plan on speaking another language. Do I need a college degree? I don't really want to be in debt while not making very much a year. Would working in customer service and learning a 3rd language be suitable enough? -Thanks!
Is this a good career plan? I am a 15 year old boy living in dallas, texas. my ultimate goal is to become an airline pilot for the major airlines such as delta and southwest. i have made some research and found out that major airlines now prefer and might only hire pilots with a 4 year bachelor college degree. that degree however does not have to be related to aviation at all. So my plan is to get a degree in something that would give me another option for a career in case being a pilot doesn't work. my number 2 career option is a firefighter. I have fairly good grades so i plan on going to Oklahoma State University and get a 4 year bachelor degree in Fire protection and safety technology. i have searched and OSU has that program. After that or during my years in college which depends on my financial state, i will go to a flight school that is approved by the FAA and complete my flight training required. After i finish all my required training and hours i will get a job as a flight intstructor, then move to the regional airlines, then move to the major airlines. Another way is if i dont get hired as a pilot or i enjoy my 4 years in the fire program so much, then i will change my plans completly to a firefighter. Please tell me honestly if this is a good career plan and please dont tell me the military because i already eliminated that option because they require that you serve for 10 years now.
please help me. how to become a pilot? ok, so this is the thing: i´m 16 years old, I live in mexico but i am an U.S. resident, so I am legally able to study and work on US, since a child, my dream is to brecome a pilot, like those who fly on commercial airlines, f.e. jetblue, southwest, aeromexico... so i was looking for information here, in mexico, but I really wasn´t convinced at all, firstable, the cost and the necessity to move my residence to mexico city, wich is, of course almost imosible, other thing is the medical exams, very strict an old fashioned. I have close family on sugar grove, illinois, and then i thought it would be a great idea to study a pilot career near sugar ggrove, IL. but i don´t know where, nevertheless, i like to know how is the process of being pilot here in US, and wich is the cost, how many time it takes, and of course what requirements i have to accomplish. and have choices of good schools close to sugar grove, IL. i was thinking also to study a carees in the univerity first, like engineering or physics and mathematics degree. than k you so much for your help and sorry if my english is bad, i´m studying.
What is the best aviation school in California? Yeah I want to be an airline pilot for companies like southwest etc. I know this is verry expensive and takes a lot of time and effort but I'm willing to pay the price because I really love flying and going around the world. So now my questions are what is the best aviation school in cali? in the country? give me websites if possible. And what are the steps to become an airline pilot. Can I start to get my licesnce at 17 years old? If I study another career would it give me a better shot at gettin a job with the big airlines? Also if i go to Mexico and get my licensce over there can I come work here in the USA? Were is a pilot paid more here or in mexico?
Which career makes more money? An international airline captain (working for a major airline such as Southwest, JetBlue, etc) or a corporate lawyer working for a major lawfirm BOTH in a big city, (Philadelphia)?
Pilots... Best Airline....? I thought that I might be leaning towards Southwest to go into as a career. Then I thought about their fleet. I don't want to spend my whole life flying 150 people passenger aircraft. I want to fly the big Boys 300 seaters 777, 757, 767, and soon... 787. What is the best airline that has pretty good pay, average to excelling benefits, and operates that spectrum of aircraft.
Questions for Commercial Air Pilots? I am a musician, and I plan on going to college to major in composition and performance, but I've also always wanted to be a commercial pilot. I am a 4th generation pilot (but also like a 10th generation musician, just one of the first to (want) to be professional) and have my soloing license, but I have a few questions for those of you who are flying in the big airliners, like UPS, Southwest, Delta, etc. -How do you pass the time? My old neighbour was the type of pilot that would fly from anchorage to Dubai, and I'm wondering what you do all those long hours with nobody but your co-pilot -How much time does it take? My grandpa is a certified instructor and has agreed to get me up to my commercial license for free, as long as I pay for gas. If I do decide to take this career choice (at least until my music takes off) I'll probably move in with them after college, but I'd still like to know about the time frame. -Once you have your license, how long does it take to become an actual pilot in an airline? All I really know about the process is that you have to be a co-pilot for a little. Thank you so much for your time! Mathieu I would also just like to add that I do have a flight simulator-- FlightGear, and soon I hope to join a Virtual Airline just to get the experience.

Questions about the regional airlines? Hi, like many of you I have the dream of flying a jet airliner (preferably southwest 737s). Before you read this I'd like to say, please don't try to drive me away from the career. I'm speaking directly to Jetdoc and some others on here. These people have seem to have had a bad expierence in the airline industry and are now trying to drive others away from the career. I realize how bad it is already to be one unless you absolutly love flying. on to the details: I've done tons and tons of research and still am doing some more. In fact today, I read this article called "become an airline pilot" written by Doug Taylor (767 capt). And it had 2 things that got me thinking. Mainly this part: "the majority of qualified pilots are not able to procure jobs with a major carrier. My company recently received 7,000 applications for 50 job openings. All of these people were qualified." This part really got me thinking: "In addition to needing a bachelor's degree (in any subject), a pilot needs a lot of intensive training in the field of aviation itself. This is expensive, especially if you consider that there is a fairly good chance that a pilot will never work for an airline." I've heard that it is very hard to get a job at a major airline. But, are you telling me if i had say... 15,000 hours and a bunch of Multi-engine and PIC time that I wouldn't have a good chance at becoming one? Also, how about the part about not working for ANY airline. that is crazy! Again, are you telling me if got all my ratings (up to ATPL) and worked my butt off has a flight instructor for years and years i would not get hired by a regional airline? I mean come on! What is your take on this (mainly the part about not working for any airline at all)? also lets say it really is that hard to get a mjor airline job. How is the life of a VERY senior pilot making 100,000 a year or so. Anybody have pilot friends who decided to stay at the regionals? Here is the article: http://jetcareers.com/becoming-an-airline-pilot.html Until I get someone who answers my question. I didnt understand your answer really. you said something about not being able to waltz in. Ok. i never said i wanted to waltz in. I said "if i would have a good chance at all?" The other guys was confusing a bit too. But, i want more answers than just one. One more thing. i acknowleged the fact that he WAS qualified: "'ve done tons and tons of research and still am doing some more. In fact today, I read this article called "become an airline pilot" written by Doug Taylor (767 capt)."
