liquid and aerosol rules on airline travel? Does anyone think that screening baby formula and other allowed liquid gel at airport security will help save the nation from a terrorist when flying? A terrorist is going to find some way around it. At least I think. One, they are probably going to stuff liquid explosive up their butts and then have some kind of pill that they swallow for detonating it. Or, a terrorist is going to swallow a liquid explosive beforehand and then later detonate the "bomb" by swallowing a pill. Maybe I am stupid for thinking such things can happen. Next thing you know TSA are going to do cavity searches on all the passengers. And then , TSA will give syrup of ipecac to everyone to induce vomit in order to see if anyone has swallowed any liquid or other dangerous explosive. Anyone think my way of thinking is unusual?

Flying with a toddler -- is it possible?! Crazy new airline rules.? I am flying in February for the first time since 9/11. Everyone has been telling me horror stories about how all the FAA rules and airline security rules now make traveling with a baby very difficult. Which of the items below are true, and which are false? 1. You cannot bring any liquids or gels with you through security unless they're in 3 oz. sealed containers. (If so, how am I supposed to bring my son's formula and some water to make it with?) 2. Any prescription medication you want to take with you on the plane must be in its original bottle and "claimed" at the security gate. 3. Your baby cannot be sitting between two adults. He must be in a window seat. 4. If your child is not yet two, you must restrain him using a car seat, unless you wish to hold him on your lap. (We don't -- we bought him his own seat.) 5. If your child throws a tantrum, they can throw the whole family off the flight. Anybody flown recently with a child? We're flying JetBlue.
I bought an airline ticket from Houston to Baltimore, what does this mean for fare rules? "Fare Rule(s) Valid only on Southwest Airlines. NON REFUNDABLE/ STANDBY REQ UPGRADE TO YL All travel involving funds from this Confirm no. must be completed by 05/08/09. Any change to this itinerary may result in a fare increase." Does this mean I may not get the flight unless someone else doesn't go? and if I don't get the flight, will I end up not paying?
I bought an airline ticket from Omaha to Chicago, what does this mean for fare rules? "Fare Rule(s) Valid only on Southwest Airlines. NON REFUNDABLE/ STANDBY REQ UPGRADE TO YL All travel involving funds from this Confirm no. must be completed by 07/28/08. Any change to this itinerary may result in a fare increase."
If you buy an airline ticket but can't travel can you at a minimum get back the taxes portion of your ticket? I'm pretty sure I heard that you can? I'm in the Ireland so perhaps EU rules are different from US (or other) rules. Thanks.
airline travel for diabetic? what are the rules for carrying insulin and needles?
Flying with a 15 month old, airline rules? Hi My husband is going to be flying with our 15 month old son, about a 3 hour flight. Does he need to bring the baby's car seat or does the baby just sit on his lap? Doesn't seem very safe to me to have him sitting on his lap - what if the Captain announces for everyone to fasten their seat belts? He is too little to sit in a chair on his own but a friend of mine told me he is too big to bring along his car seat. Anyone else travel with 15 month old - how does it work? thanks
How do I pack for a one-week vacation, travel by plane, 4 people? Our yearly vacations have always been by car until now, but we're flying this year. I'm stumped as to the best way to pack, following airline rules, without having to pay for extra baggage. It's my husband, two teenagers, and me. Separate suitcases for each? One or two big suitcases? We'll be changing hotels a few times, and flying to more than one destination, so I'm hoping to make things as easy as possible. Any guidance is appreciated!

Rules for traveling with pets on a plane? I have an Ornate BoxTurtle that I want to bring on the plane with me. He's quite small and will only be in a small pet travel container if I travel with him for the plane ride (then he'll be moved to a bigger container). I wasn't comfortable when I left him at home hoping an eighth grader boy would look after him well during Christmas, so I want to bring him with me when I travel in March. What are the rules regarding traveling with pets? It will be southwest airlines
Airline knife rules? I plan to travel to Spain this summer; I'm also a collector of knives. I'm curious as to how I could get a knife home (if I'm even able to) if I were to purchase one in Spain.
do travel size restrictions on airlines only apply to carry on? if i want to take something with me that bigger than what the airlines say are okay for travel size, i can just pack it in my check in luggage with no issues right? sorry, im not all that well traveled. lol. too many rules.
air travel layover rules? hey i plan to travel to US in feb-march. i want to know if i should buy tickets with longer layovers at different airports? if i get a ticket on an airline that flys from (eg) say mumbai, to dubai stops there for the night, and then continues to fly to new york the nextday (overnight layover) do the airlines provide any accomodations to stay for the night or are we on our own? are we allowed to get out of the airport(if we have 6-10 hrs of layover in say london), and go sight seeing or something, even if we do not have visa for that country and are just passing through?
Airline standby rules for international flights and code-share flights.? I am travelling to Italy in the spring on American Airlines. On the return flight to the US I have a 1 day lay-over in London. The flight from Italy to London is a code-share flight between American Airlines and British Airways. Is it possible to fly standby for an earlier flight that day? Are there specific rules when flying internationally, especially when neither the departure or arrival are your home country? What about restrictions since the AA flight will be operated by BA? I realize that I will be subject to seat availability on the earlier flights, but I also don't want to waste my time getting there early if there is no possibility of getting on a different flight. Thanks for the help!
Are the prices of airline tickets cheaper for a foreigner, if purchased by someone in India? My friend, who lives in USA, is coming on a visit to India. While in India, he proposes to travel to various cities by air. He has the option of buying his India multi-city tickets in the USA, or I can book his domestic tickets for him, by using my credit/debit card. So which one is advisable, and cheaper? Also, is it against the rules to buy a domestic airline tiicket for a foreigner?
Travelling with PIA and taking a travel system from Glasgow Airport? I'l be flying with my baby soon and i am thinking of taking the Graco travel system ( Car seat & Stroller) with me. Has anyone had experiences of travelling with a travel system and what are the rules of taking one with you on the Pakistan International Airline. Oh and my baby will have his own seat
Have you heard the new travel rules, due to the 'religion of peace'? They are saying NO ELECTRONICS are to...? ...be carried on-board. What about our laptops? My friend checked one-in last time there was no laptops some years ago - and it was destroyed (not working) when he made it to his destination. Do you think the airlines could be held accountable if my near 3000 GBP laptop arrives damaged? Glad he suffered 3rd degree burns.... To the d1ckheads suggesting I'm making stuff up, here are a few links for you: Tech News Daily: http://www.tech-news-daily.info/no-electronics-allowed-during-international-flights-unconfirmed.html Tech Crunch: http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/12/26/airplane-electronics-ban/
Any one heard the TSA advisory about Math teachers being a threat to airline travel? A public school math teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a set square, a slide rule and a calculator. At a morning press conference, Attorney General Hillary Clinton said she believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement. She did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction. "Al-gebra is a problem for us Hillary said. "They desire solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute values. They use secret code names like 'x' and 'y' and refer to themselves as 'unknowns', but we have determined they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country. As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, 'There are 3 sides to every triangle'." When asked to comment on the arrest, President Obama said, "If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, He would have given us more fingers and toes." White House aides told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the president. * * With apologies to POTUS * *
Airline traveling the 3 oz rule? If I have all my liquids under the 3 oz rule do they be in my carry on? Can i put all my items in my cosmetic bag or do they need to be in a 1 gallon zip lock bag in my suite case? What do airports consider liquids or items that need to be under 3oz?
What rules of consideration apply to this? Say a travel firm owes an airline $25,000. They offer the airline $15,000 as well as cut-price package deals on Fiji holidays to all the airline's employees. The airline accepts. However, in due course no one from the airlines staff have booked the cheap Fiji holiday packages (because of the coup and stuff). The airline then demands the remaining payment of $10,000. Would the travel firm be legally bound to pay this still?
Can a 16 year-old traveling alone use an adult-fare airline ticket? I have found a good deal online for a ticket for my son's upcoming visit. I do not know the rules of children traveling alone, Does he have to have a youth ticket? I checked on Southwest airlines and they offer youth fares, I just didn't know if it was necessary for all youths to get this kind of ticket or if it was just an option they offer. Southwest's website said that all youth fares must be purchased from the point of origin and the passenger must present proof of age. He doesn't have a picture I.D. yet....I just didn't know if this was for security reasons (to keep pervs from flying other people's children across the country) or what.
Traveling abroad using several airlines- baggage rules? Im so confused. Im an amateur flyer so any help would be great. I am flying Lufansa, operated by BMI (whatever that means) to London 3 hour layer London to America flying Lufansa operated by United Airlines So whose baggage rules do I use- lufansa, bmi, united??
Taking food in airline checked in luggage? I'm travelling abroad, and was wondering if there are any restrictions on carrying food in your checked in luggage? I will be carrying some Chocolate/candy and cookies. What are the restrictions regarding different types of food on board airlines, and do certain rules apply depending on the country you are travelling too? I realise liquids are still an issue, but I'm not sure about other types?
Can a 14 year old travel by British Airways unaccompanied? I'm 14, and I travel a lot by myself. Every time I'm coming from Logan Airport (Boston) to Heathrow (London) none of the airlines make me travel with their unaccompanied minors program, but every time I'm going from London to Boston they do. This has happened to me with KLM, Continental, and American Airlines. I was just wondering what the actual rule is for British Airways because I'm fully capable of traveling alone. Thanks!

What are the rules for luggage on an airplane? So I am traveling on Southwest Airlines, and this is the first time I have ever been on an airplane. That being said I don't know what you can not bring. First there used to be a thing about liquids, so can i bring my shampoo and contact solution? Then I want to bring my laptop, are there rules to that? and finally i want to bring my purse onto the plane, which would have my cell phone, any rules on that? Thanks in advance.
Can I travel with a handgun to Michigan? I already read my airline rules, I know I'm allowed to travel with it - the record of gun purchase is in my name, now I just want to know if Michigan law allows for people not residing in the state, but just visiting to have a handgun with them. I don't have a CCL, don't plan on carrying it with me, just want it at the home I'm staying at to ensure safety. Can't seem to find this information (at least, not current) anywhere, and don't want my gun confiscated when I get to Detroit or however it works.. don't know if the airline/state I'm flying out of has this information or not, so I want to find out before I make a mistake. Thanks.
Can a 14 year old travel alone on a plane? I read that there are some new rules that kids under 14 can't travel alone. I also read that some airlines, if you pay a fee, then they can travel alone. Is this true? I'm going to Texas to Boston and the ticket websites said that I could not travel alone b/c there are new rules
Which airline has the cheapest rates for pets (dog) as carry on? I am planning on flying within the US with my 11-12lb dog. He has traveled with me before once on an airplane and was on his best behavior. I know the rules and requirements for him to fly with me as a "carry on" item, but I just want to know which airline has the cheapest rate. I know that AA is 100 each way, and Delta is 125 each way. Any suggestions?
How to buy airline ticket online from foreign airline that only accept credit cards but not my visa debit card? How can I buy a ticket online from an airline when they only accept credit cards & not my Visa Debit card? The airline, EVA (evaair) has great online only web fares to Asia. Problem is they only process bookings with a credit card in my name. They will absolutely NOT accept any debit cards, even if they are labeled "Visa" from my bank. I find this amazing, since I am essentially offering them cash, but all the customer service people I spoke with say it's because they process the transactions at their home-base in Taiwan. Obviously there are technology services to get around that, but I guess they are avoiding paying additional fees and save money. If the discount being offered was not significant, I would buy the ticket elsewhere. However, if I buy on their website I can save around $600! Believe me, I've shopped around. I also have frequent flier miles with them through a travel agent before and that gets me deeper discounts than normal, plus two nights free hotel...but only if I buy through the web. My friend offered to put the charge on his credit card and I can pay him cash, but the airline rules say the card has to be presented be in the name of and presented by one of the travelers. Well, I don't see any option other then buying the ticket from another source and losing the discount. Unless someone brilliant here knows how to buy online with credit in my name within 3 (yes, three) days? BTW: I tried entering the debit card since I figured it wouldn't be a problem and processed the same way, etc. It is, in fact, immediately rejected because it's a debit card. The payment processing system they use seems to able to tell through some instant feedback from a global financial system service.
what are the rules / laws and recommendations of taking a bird interstate by plane? i have a rainbow lorikeet and im wishing to move states later this year.. from new south wales to perth.. i assume they wouldnt expect you to put the bird with the suitcases in a cage, would i put him in a small pets travel bag in my lap? does he need to be checked with a vet? do you need to prepare permits to show the airline ? etc any useful information will help even if its not those exact answers to those questions.. thanks!
Travel a lot and need heathly options for food besides take out? I'm in the airline industry and get tired of eating out all the time, not to mention how bad eating out makes me feel and not to mention money spent. I'm looking for ideas on what to take on my three, four, five day trips to keep me up to speed. I mostly take snacks such as trail mix, whole grain bars, energy bars, but I need food food to eat when I get to my hotels. Can't really frigerate anything since I'm on a plane the entire time and most hotels do not have a refrigerator anyway. I think this is my biggest problem and at a stand still now. I do not have rules on liquids I can get past security so this is not an issue. Thanks!

Well, I don't see any option other then buying the ticket from another source and losing the discount. Unless someone brilliant here knows how to buy online with credit in my name suddenly? Oh, I sheepishly add that I would like to travel in one week... I tried entering the debit card since I figured it wouldn't be a problem and processed the same way, etc. It is, in fact, immediately rejected because it's a debit card. The payment processing system they use seems to able to tell through some instant feedback from a global financial system service.
How do I transfer a "non-transferable" airline ticket to another passenger? I'd like to transfer a ticket that I bought for one person to someone else because the first person can't go anymore. The airline (Delta) tells me that the ticket is non-transferable and that I can cancel and take a credit. The problem is that the flight is overbooked, so I can't even buy another ticket on the same flight. Also, the credit goes to the ticketed passenger, not me (who paid for the ticket). I'm looking for some exception to this rule or some loophole that I can exploit. All I want to do is get someone else's name on the ticket that I paid for so that we can travel together. How best to accomplish this? Thanks.
14 year old traveling in airplane alone? I found a flight for my son to go from Atlanta, Ga to New York City, its cheapOairbookin.com but i don't know if i should pay it because some airlines have rules on minors traveling alone. What do i do? the airline doesnt seem to have a contact number.
Are there rules of what clothes you have to wear while traveling on First/business class? Before my trip from Melbourne to LA, my mum told me that if I travel on business class on United Airlines, I must wear clothes like a business shirt, black business pants and leather shoes. But on the day of my flight, I was shocked to find out that none of the business class passengers wore the clothes what my mum suggested. They wore casual clothes, like jeans, polo shirt, demin skirt etc. That really humiliated me and wearing my clothes were so uncomfortable while sleeping. Do you agree with my mum’s suggestions?
Can a non-traveller accompany a traveller to a gate? I am travelling for the first time in six years, so I'm not really up on airline rules right now. Usually, I have travelled with a group, but this time I'm going alone. Two family members want to come see me off. The airport is Vancouver International.
Airline Regulations: I havent flown in a few years? it has been a few years since i've flown and DH has never flown- because of a family emergency he has to go home over christmas... what are some travel tips for flying with new rules? (ie i havent flown since they banned liquids etc) What do we need to be aware of?
Would you be in favor of changing this rule? Do you like airline travel? You can threoretically take as many consecutive flights travelling east as you want, and even make a marathon out of it. Going only east. But you cannot take many consecutive flights traveling only north, and you would not be able to make much of a marathon out of it, if going only north. Would you be in favor of changing this rule?
what are the flight benefits for continental flight attendants? My boyfriend just got hired as a flight attendant for Continental airlines. What are their rules about me traveling on a pass (since we are not married but do live together) and his family members? How soon do we get the benefits? After he has been working a while? or immediately? Also, I've heard that if you get laid off you still get travel benefits as well, is that true?
How do I carry my lunch when traveling on a airplane? Only for people who travel on American Airlines And are their rules on what food you can bring on the flight
Where to go for airline tax refund? I have booked several airline tickets before the July 22nd date, with travel in August/Sept. Now there is a ruling that I can get a percent of my paid taxes back. I have contacted the airline and they said to contact the IRS. Contacted the IRS and they said to contact the airline. Any help here? Continental and US Airways

Baggage allowance during international travel in singapore airlines? i am travelling in singapore airlines from california to chennai, india. As per guidelines, Each baggage is not supposed to exceed 62 and total should not exceed 107 inches. I feel this strange... is this rule enforced strict by airlines... I have travelled many times in lufthansa and i used to each each baggage of length 62 inches....
how is the cheapest way to get airline tickets. It is a domestic flight.? I live in Texas & want to go to Indiana.Do i need a travel agency or what? I haven't flown in years. Baggage allowance rules for Qantas connecting flights? My booking is with Emirates airline. I will be travelling form Dubai to Sydney, business class on Emirates airline and then on Qantas business class to Cairns. My booking will be under one booking reference number. Emirates will allow me up to 42kg free baggage because I will be travelling business class and I am Emirates Silver member as well. Can anyone tell that at Sydney after immigration and customs Qantas would allow me the same amount of baggage i.e., 42kg without any extra charge to Cairns?
Air travel with a baby, restrictions on baby milk/food in jars or packets? Hi, I am travelling to Florida from the U.K. for 3 weeks in the summer. My youngest will be 8months old by then so wondered what the rules were re packing powdered milk/foods and jars/tins of baby food. He is Lactose intolerant otherwise we would have purchased most of the items in America. Advice from recent travellers or airline workers would be appreciated. Cheers.
Do you have to buy a ticket if flying internationally when traveling with a baby or toddler? State side if under 2 yrs the infant can travel on your lap. I don't think that is true for international flights???? I think you have to buy a ticket for the baby. Do the rules vary by the airline? Regardless I don't think I want to fly all the way to Europe with my baby on my lap. What about strollers and car seats? Can you bring them? Should we rent a car seat? Advice, experiences, please.
Did anyone see the Lost Luggage video? Where you can find out how to get $ back for your lost luggage? We're traveling soon and I thought it would be helpful to see but when I sat down to watch the video it had already been removed. Thanks! Also if you remember what the airline rule is for getting on another flight Id appreciate that also.
When taking small pets as carry on ... do they weigh or examine carrier? Want to try to bring 2 pugs on board? I am travelling home for the holidays and want to take my pugs with me. They are small so I think they can fit in 1 carrier. The airlines rule says total carrier plus pets can't exceed 15 lbs. Are they really going to weigh it though? They're small pugs.
When traveling via Airplane or Greyhound bus, is a duffel bag acceptable or are you required to use luggage? I'm traveling to Canada next year, and can't afford actual luggage bags, so I'm hoping a duffel bag or two and perhaps even a backpack will be acceptable to take on an airplane or if there are certain rules Airlines stand by regarding that.
Would be it safe to travel while pregnant? My husband and I will be heading to FL from Montana in Feb for baby shower by that time ill be approximately 27 weeks. Thing is instead of flying we will be driving down all the way. We are both aware that this will be a long trip, frequent stops, and we would need to be really careful but first we need to talk to the OB! We were supposed to ask him last week when we saw him but we totally forgot about it. Now I don't get to see him till the 30th of this month. Flying from Montana to FL is outrageously expensive each ticket last I saw is close to 600 and the cost driving is a lot cheaper, and also thinking of the gifts we will be getting I don't want to pack all the gifts into suitcases I can already imagine how many of those we will be needing (paying for suitcases wouldn't be an issue since he is in the military and has orders, he is allowed up to 10 suitcases, or depending on the airline) just the thought of 10 of them already stresses me out! If the Doctors says no ill be devastated because I already sent out invitations, and my mother is planning and since we don't have close family in Montana FL is our chance, I was wondering if there is a rule traveling in the end of your 2nd trimester and if it would be horrible to travel in the beginning of your third!! Keeping my fingers crossed! I really wanna go back home :/
Im curious about international travel? Now i have 2 questions, Some airlines say that after the age of 12 or 14 a person is no longer considered an unaccompanied minor. But still if a person ages 15-17 wants to travel alone they need a parent/legal guardian to escort them to the plane. In short, can a person 15-17 travel in& out of the country without parents present at the airport? Is this So? .....Also!, my best friend is 18 w/o a drivers license, and he wants to know if he travel internationally with a School ID and a passport..(and of course a ticket) i know in some airlines these rules are different so if you could be specific you sure would save us some time. thanks yahoo ppl on the web! +)
Need help - Immigration and travel? 1)I came to the USA on an award ticket & my retun is july25th -2008. 2) My visa - I-94 expires March 6 2008 3)My daugther has applied for my green card I-130 in Nov & until today I have not got the receipt number from USICS 4) As I will go out of status I requested my Airlines to prepone my ticket to march 5th but are refusing to do so since I have started my journey (as per the airline rule) Any advice?
there is a rule that for every 1,000 ft in elevation, the plane can glide for 10 mi? When airline pilots travel over water, they say to each other "we have now reached our point of no return." But mathematically, if a commercial jet flies 45,000 ft, it should be able to glide for 450 miles......or is it 45 miles? how does one fly safely to Hawaii--2600 miles out?
here is why I ask these questions of flying? HERE IS WHY I ASK THIS!!! Because you are at the mercy of the airlines rules and conditions on your ticket and I am making my point. I am saying that if your trip is delayed due to weather and a lot of it has been lost and you want to reschedule or refund, I worry they wont wave those rules and conditions I FEEL AS IF THEY FEEL THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR A LOT OF YOUR TRIP Being lost when they should wave some of these rules and conditions of changing travel date and refund. and Yes I am worried about Airline tickets where it says you cannot change date of travel as what if one of your friends is visiting your area who goes to school states away and you want to see her and reschedule the trip. OR what if I lose a lot of my trip due to the weather and I only have 2 days off in a row of work and have to reschedule the trip and they wont change it. What will make the front desk not change hte trip. if it was me and the front desk refused to change the date, I Would not leave them alone till they changed it. what I mean is what if this girl I went to college with goes to grad school states away and she comes to visit the area for a few days and I scheduled a trip to fly before I knew she was coming and I Want to see her and want to reschedule my trip, but the airline ticket has a fare basis that you cannot change the date of travel (ARE THERE AIRLINE TICKETS WITH THOSE RULES) and I want to change the date of travel, will the agent at the desk in the airline say not to changing it and if she refuses I wont leave her alone till she changes it but what IF I want to see her.
Traveling with prescription medications....? I need to travel out of the country from the USA to Curacao with prescription medication. What are the current airline rules..do I have to travel with a copy of the actual prescription, etc?
how much are American Express points worth? I have about 400,000 American Express points, which can be used for travel with many airlines or to purchase a variety of products. One of those is a gift certificate at Saks Fifth Avenue: for every 100 points I would get a gift certificate worth $1. I'm trying to figure out if it is better to exchange the points for that, or to use them for free airline tickets. Is there a rule of thumb?
Best Airlines (1. Cheap and 2. Good Service) to travel from LA to Bombay/India? We are planning for a round trip from LAX to BOM. * Can anyone please suggest something cheap/good as per their near past experience ? * Any good travel agents that you may have purchased tickets from ? * Anything to be careful/aware of. (specific Rules, baggage limitations etc) Thanks !!
What do the new regulations allow me to take on board an airplane? I will be traveling via an airplane this X-Mas... What am I allowed to bring aboard? I heard I cannot take shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste or anything liquid. What if it's checked in? does that make a difference? What are the new rules? I tried calling the airline but they had me on hold for an hour so I gave up. Thanks in advance!
Congress should also form an air passenger assn to counter the powerful airline industry lobby. Do you agree? Ralph Nader; In some areas it regulates, the aviation agency is not even living up to the safety requirements in its rule books. For example, it is allowing safety systems in some new airliner designs to be evaluated by analysis based on past tests, mathematical models and computer simulations, rather than requiring actual testing. The agency waived full-scale emergency evacuation tests for the Boeing 777-300, for example, and certified the plane in 1998 to carry 550 occupants even though actual tests had been used only for a smaller model model (the Boeing 777-200) that carried 419 people. Every year, the agency also grants the airline industry an astounding 300 waivers or exemptions from federal safety rules. For example, while a rule requires that the aisle between seats leading to emergency window exits be 20 inches wide, the F.A.A. has made exceptions to allow spaces as small as 14 inches and is considering a further relaxation to 10 inches. Today there are more than 3,000 waivers of various kinds. It is true that commercial air travel continues to be among the safest forms of travel. But if standards are not kept high, the industry's record could quickly deteriorate. To assure that they are, the United States should establish an independent federal aviation safety and security agency, leaving the F.A.A. to operate air traffic control. Congress should also form an air passenger association, financed in part by a two-cent refundable fee on each ticket and controlled by passengers, to counter the powerful airline industry lobby. And Congress should hold regular, vigorous aviation safety oversight hearings. Neglecting air safety is like stretching a rubber band. At a certain point, the rubber band snaps.
I am going to the Algarve and have to connect in Lisbon - can I leave the airport? I am a UK resident and am travelling to Faro, Algarve and it's a connecting flight stopping in Lisbon for 7 hours. It would be good if we could leave the airport for a few hours as 7 hours is a long time to wait in an airport. We're travelling with TAP Airlines. I'm not sure about the rules with the European Union, but as far as I know we can travel to anywhere thats part of it without a visa
Can any agency take action for extremely narrow seats travelling to Toronto by Air Transat & Thomas Cook plane? London-Toronto and return flights from London to Toronto by Air Transat and Thomas Cook is 7-8 hours (a long haul flight). But the seat pitch is so narrow that only slim people can sit easily. All bulky people have to be very much uncomfortable. Is there any agency or authority who oversee these two airlines are breaking rules.
If you can't behave (act normal for the duration of the flight) should you be able to fly? With the current turbulent environment in the world with regards to air travel. Why do you think the airlines haven't declared. Sit in you seat, behave, and deal with every question we ask and new rules or you don't get on the airplane. I realize we are customers and they need to make money, however, if things get any worse, the airlines won't be making any money. Accept the searches, have your passport, abide by the new rules, get on the plane, act normal for the duration of the flight, get off the plane and go on with your silly little life. What is the flipping problem? You don't act normal you can't fly. Anybody else feel the same?
What is the best way to change your airline ticket and loose the least amount of money? Hi, I recently bought a ticket thought Frontier airlines and need to change my flight. I found out that changing the flight you need to pay 150 (which is more than the value of my ticket) plus the difference between the old ticket and my new ticket. If I cancel my flight the faq page says I will retain the value of my ticket. Can I just cancel the flight and book a new one with the credit I get from my old flight? Yes, confusing I know. I bought the economy ticket Here's the info from their website --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If I didn't use my ticket, am I allowed to use it towards the purchase of a new one? Tickets retain their value based on the rules of the fare. For tickets purchased on or before September 30, 2008, the value is retained for one year from the date of issue if the ticket is not used. For non-refundable tickets purchased on or after October 1, 2008, the tickets have no value after the ticketed flight departure time. However, you can cancel the ticketed flight reservation prior to the ticketed flight departure time in order to retain the value of the ticket for one year from the date of issuance of the original ticket. If your ticket was purchased through a travel agency, and was issued as a paper ticket, you must exchange that ticket for your new one. Contact the original booking agent, or stop by our ticket counter for assistance. To use a credit towards a new reservation, please call our Reservations Department at 800-4321-FLY (800-432-1359). Please provide your original confirmation or ticket number. I need to change my itinerary, what do I need to do? If you are changing your itinerary prior to travel (date changes or city changes), you would pay the difference between the old fare and the new fare based on the new itinerary as well as a change fee. The change fee is based on the ticket purchase date: Ticket purchased on or before July 24, 2008: $100 Ticket purchased on or after July 25, 2008: $150 If you purchased an Economy, Classic or Classic Plus ticket on or after December 18, 2008, you would still pay the fare difference, but the change fee is based on the ticket type: Economy: $150 Classic: $50 Classic Plus: Free
here is why I always ask this for flying and the act of god thing? why I always ask this for flying: What if I am traveling to Iowa or Minneapolis from MAnchester and my connector flight is to Chicago and there is a torando, thunderstorms or bad weather in Chicago and my flight to Chicago gets cancelled though yet my final destination is to Minneapolis or Iowa. AM I SOL?? WHAT WILL THE AIRLINE DO FOR ME TO GET THERE FASTER (Will they change airlines for me if necessary) what if it cuases me to lose a whole day in my destination? What do I do and if I only have 2 days to do my trip. What percent chance will I end up getting there the next day and what if that next day is when its time to go home? AND WILL THEY WAVE THE PENALTY OF ME TRANSFERING TO ANOTHER AIRLINE TO GET TO MY DESTINATION AS WHAT IF ITS THE ONLY WAY I WILL GET THERE FASTER? I ask this: what if ones flight is to leave a trip at 6 am and the flight is cancelled due to weather and there is a later flight that they rebook you and that gets delayed an hour twice. What if I decide to the trip is not worth going that day and go to the airline front desk to reschedule the date of my travel to that destination. WILL I STILL HAVE TO PAY A FEE OR BE CHARGED? I mean I am willing to abort a trip for that day when I will get there too late and lose a lot of my trip. WILL THEY WAVE THE FEE IF I RESCHEDULE THE TRIP IF WEATHER CAUSES MY TRIP TO BE DELAYED SOO MUCH? will they wave a penalty of changing airlines if thats my only faster way? what would you do if the weather delays your trip several hours and you are losing a good percentage of your trip, STick it out or abort the trip and go another day. AND THIS TOO, what if your ticket is nonrefundable and the weather has delayed your trip that its disrupted your trip, Will they weave the nonrefundable and give your money back? WILL THEY REFUND YOUR MONEY IF THE FLIGHT HAS BEEN CANCELLED AND THEN DELAYED DUE TO WEATHER AND THAT HAS RUINED YOUR TRIP AND CAUSED YOU TO LOSE A LOT OF IT. AND TOO IF the flight is cancelled due to weather, ARE YOU NOT ENTITLED TO A HOTEL OR MEAL VOUCHERS., what if the last flght out is cancelled due to weather and you are stuck overnight what will they do HAve people blown up at the front desk over this. SORRY BUT I FEEL THAT YOU ARE AT THE MERCY OF THE AIRLINES RULES! ALRIGHT WHEN THEY REBOOK YOU On a later flight, what if you feel that the rebooked flight is too late and you decide to go anohter time, will you have to pay still if so and If I have to I will make my boss fund it! I AM NOT PAYING FOR SOMETHING OF WHERE I AM BAILING OUT OF A TRIP THAT WILL BE A RUIN! what if the weather has kept you there and the trip becomes the trip that never ways as you were stuck in the airport long enough, will they give you vouchers to make up your trip if you want to make up the trip as you never got there during the time you were scheduled to go. would they refund your moeny even?
Airline carry on luggage question:? This is a dumb question but since I don't travel hardly ever, I'm not familiar with the carry on luggage rules but I do know they are getting pretting strict. I have a small plastor statue I need to bring as a gift since I don't trust the mail systems to deliver in one piece (they've already busted one to pieces). If it is small enough in box and all to fit in a carry on size bag does anyone know if I will be able to carry it on or be forced to check it? I've tried looking at guidlines but nothings really helpful since there's too much to list on what isn't allowed. Its just a statue of a woman dancing with her hand up in the air and pointer finger poiting so I would be afraid of it being broke if I had to check it.
Is there is any rule that passenger having passport issued from bareilly office can't travel from hyderabad Immigration officers in hyderabad airport tell me that i can't travel from hyderabad because i have a passport issued from bareilly passport office, i have a confirmed ticket from hyderabad to sharjah on 7th september 2006 in Indian Airlines (IC 1563) but the immigration officers do not allow me to travel. Today 9th September, 2006, i have a confirmed ticket on Indian Airlines (IC 961) from hyderabad to sharjah. Is this problem repeated with me. I want the answer immediately in detail.
Why do airlines hide behind the authorities? I know that they are for good purpose, but why must the airlines say "federal regulations" when telling about no smoking and electronic devices in the safety briefing. It doesn't matter whose rule it it, it is a rule that must be enforced. I travel a lot on business and all the airlines do it.
Travelling with cat on Northwest Airlines??? Please Help!? I am desperate for help. I want to carry my 13 pound cat onto my flight when I move from AK to FL in a month. The problem is, the only soft sided carrier I can find (the Sherpa Delta one) that he fits in and meets airline rule weighs 4 lbs on its own so he weighs 17 lbs. in it. The limit is 15 lbs and they claim (on the phone) even if it’s 15.5 he will not be able to go. I even offered to pay extra and not bring any carry on items and they said “rules are 15 lbs and that’s all there is to say. No wiggle room.” Putting him in cargo would be the absolute worst thing! He is not easy going at all and plus he would be terrified. What I need to know is has anyone had experience carrying pets on to a flight (especially a Northwest flight) and if so how strict were they to you about the weight? What type of carrier did you use? Unfortunately, since I am moving and this is the only option so please don’t respond about how cruel I am to my cat.
Revenue Recognition on Airlines or Hotel? Does anyone know if there is any special FAS rule regarding the revenue recognition in airlines, hotel or any travel, hospitality industry?
Has anyone ever snuck their cat/small dog on a plane without paying the airline fees? I've traveled numerous times on planes with my cat in an approved carrier in the cabin with me. He does well flying and I get to spend the holidays with him. Each time, I paid for a medical exam for him by my vet so that I'd have the medical certificate if they asked (they never did) and I paid the airline fees. Two years ago, the first time I flew, it cost $50 each way for his "reservation" and $30 for the exam, for a total of $130. The next time, it cost $75 each way and $30 for the exam, for a total of $180. Since I wanted to take him home for Christmas this year, I checked the airline pet fees and nearly fell out of my chair! Delta/NWA is now charging $150 each way for a pet and United is charging $175. The cheapest, USAir, is still charging $100 each way, but I don't fly them because they're almost never the cheapest airline for me. I recently bought a ticket on Delta for my flight home for Christmas and payed $250 for a roundtrip, but my cat's "reservation" would cost $300, more than my ticket! If I was flying United, it would cost $350! Now, I'm all for playing the rules, but this is crazy. And what's even more insulting, I pay all that money and my cat still counts as one of my pieces of carryon luggage! $300 and I don't even get to bring an extra bag! So I'm either going to board him (which now costs less than flying him even for a two- or three-week trip) or sneak him on the plane, but has anyone ever done that successfully? I wouldn't have to sneak him through security because the TSA people don't know and don't care what flight I'm on. How would they know if I have a reservation for him? And if I have a friend waiting to take him to a kennel in case my plan fails, what's the harm in trying? Has anyone out there ever done this? Ok, seriously, read the question. Don't send a stupid, knee-jerk reaction answer. If you don't own a pet and have never taken one on a plane, don't answer this question. I don't plan to send my cat through the x-ray machine! I'd walk through with him like I always do. My "guess" is that the only people who know if your cat is booked on a flight is the airline on which you're flying. Do the TSA guys know whether you've made a reservation for your cat? If not, why would they care if I have a cat with me or not?
Regulations regarding carrying liquid medicines as hand-luggage on European airlines? My father is flying from England to Spain tomorrow, he has prescription eye-drops that he would prefer to carry in his hand-luggage or on his person rather than pack in his suitcase in case it gets lost. What are the European air-travel rules nowadays about liquid medicines in hand-luggage? Does everything still have to be in clear zip-topped plastic bags? There's lots of info on the 'net about American regulations and the TSA, but it's not clear about European airlines. This is a tiny bottle about half the size of a matchbox, it is the only liquid that he will take onto the plane, can he just put it in his pocket or does he have to declare it to someone? His flight is tomorrow so quick replies would be very much appreciated.
ok about this question for ticket rules? are there some Airline tickets you purchase where you Cannot change the date of travel at all even with a fee. (well what if I a friend is visiting and you want to reschedule the trip to see that friend) or what if the flight is cancelled and your trip is severly delayed and you want to reschedule the trip.

Crosscontinental travel with a newborn!! HELP!? I am about to go to Buenos Aires Argentina to visit family for 3 1/2 weeks. Things I need to take, special rules for the airlines, essential tips and tricks from someone who has experience. This is going to be a 9 hour flight so I really want to make sure I get everything right so my baby does not feel uncomfortable. If you have never traveled with a small child cross-continental, please do not answer! I need real and good advice please!!!!! Sorry do not want to sound rude, but there are too many people that do not know what they are talking about, I need concrete advice that will help me please, thank you!!!
