How long can a new Continental Flight Attendant expect to be on reserve?

  1. I think it depends on what type of aircraft you will be serving in (if it is the 737 or 777, you may not be on reserve that long since Continental should have new aircraft being delivered) and when the most senior flight attendants will be retiring.
  2. a Continental f/a currently is on reserve for 6 years. they are getting new planes and hiring new f/a's but the seniority is based on who else is in your base (Cle, Ewr, Iah) because that list is by seniority (what your date of hire is). Newark f/a's get a line faster than their classmates in Houston do as it is a more junior base. If you speak a language that they can use, you stand a better chance of not being on reserve at all. You can also find a senior f/a to jobshare with (2 f/a's share one line of time) and wouldn't be on reserve the months the jobshare is approved. During the busy seasons and holiday months, less or no jobshares are given but other months are okay.
