How far ahead of a flight do the ticket prices start to go up?
Im getting ready to buy an airline ticket from continental to el salvador in december, right now, the ticket costs 840 both ways, when will the price begin to rise?

- Airlines adjust prices based on supply and demand. The fare could rise or fall anytime depending on how many seats remain and whether the airline thinks that demand will be high. Also, airlines limit the number of discount seats per flight. Once the $840 seats sell out, which can happen at any time, then you'll have to pay more. There is one exception to the rule. Discount fares normally have an advance purchase requirement. This can vary by destination, but 14-21 days is fairly normal for international destinations. Once that deadline passes, the fare goes up - often dramatically. However, the discount seats may be all sold out by that date. In short, there is no way to realistically predict when fares will go up or down. Sorry!
