Continental Airline Tickets

How would I connect the flight of a Philippine Airline flight to a United Airline flight?

I am travelling from the Philippines to Los Angeles via Philippine Airlines, it's my first time though to ride this airline, i usually go on a northwest flight, anyway, before i get to LA, i have to stop in San Francisco and from there, take a United Airline flight to LA, my concern is, in nwa, i dont need to go to another nwa check in counter to check my bags again, is this the same for philippine airlines or do i need to have to recheck my baggage in the united airline counters once i get to San Francisco. Thanks.

  1. You will definitely have to clear US customs when you arrive in San Francisco. When you get off the plane you will be directed to a place to claim your baggage (the carts are free, there by the way), and then go see a US customs agent with your passport. Once you're done, you can re-check your bags right there in the customs area, and they will transport your bags to the United flight. You, personally, will go out into the terminal and catch a tram that will take you to the North Terminal where United is. If you have your boarding passes already, you don't need to check in again -- just go through Security and to your gate. If you don't have boarding passes, go get in the "Boarding Pass Only -- No Luggage" line, and then through Security to your gate. Here's the SFO website address for transferring passengers... don't be afraid to ask for directions. My experience is that people are very helpful there!
