Continental Airline Tickets

How can I see the open seats on an airline flight?

I booked seats on an international flight and I want to know the status of the the open and un-open seats on my flight. Is their a site that will have updated information of the capacity on my flight and which seats are taken.

  1. Check on the airline's website, they usually will show which seats are taken and which ones are open if you look up the flight for the date.
  2. Usually if an airline allows you to choose your seat when you purchase your ticket they will have a link that shows what seats are taken and what seats are available. If that option wasn't available you'll have to call the airline to see when and if you can reserve your seat by phone, if you know what type of plane you're flying on, you can check the seating for that plane on seatguru.com and hope the seat you want is available when you call. Good luck.
  3. Some carrier display seat map on their website but it often doesn't reflex the availability of the flight. Most airlines only allow up to 40% of the space for seat assignment. Once those seats are taken the rest of the passengers can only get it at the time of check in. A few airlines are 100% airport check in only. About 3 days before departure, the seat map will be closed and turn to airport control. At this point only airport agents can access to those seats. I must also point out that seat assignment is never a confirmation even if you have the seat number. Check in early is the best approach especially travel during high season.
