About carry-on baggage when traveling with Continental Airlines...?
I read the carry-on baggage regulations on continental.com (http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/travel/baggage/carry-on.aspx) and I got confused... it says that I can have one carry-on and 1 personal item, then it list what kind of personal item I can bring... Does this mean that I have to choose between carrying my digital camera, mp3 player, and laptop? At first, I planned to have one carry on-baggage, like a bookbag and have my laptop, mp3 player, and digital camera in there....so what should I do now? Also if I bring my laptop, does that mean I have to take it out to let it be scan by the x-ray machine itself? (same thing for the 3oz toiletries?) BTW, I'm traveling from Newark, NJ (EWR) to Hong Kong (HKG) (it's about a 15 hour flight >.<)

- you will have to takr out your laptop no matter what. basically it's one back for the overhead and one for the foot area. if you have a laptop bag that can fir the camera and mp3 - you're all set! the 3oz liquids will have to be in a 1 qt ziploc bag and yesm handed to the screening agent. i reommend while in line asking if you should be booting up the laptop - some make you turn it on. also keep the ziploc bag to the front of the carry on to have it out and ready. once you're through grab a couple bottled water or soda and take them with you - long flight!!
- Yeah, that sounds confusing. I guess the best way to look at it is everything must fit under the seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment. If its in 1 bag and you can fit it under the seat you are fine. You are not allowed to have bags in your lap during take off/landing. Good Luck, P.S. Multiple items in a bag are ok.
- you can carry all your electronic goods with you. they just mean 'one personal item' as in one reasonably sized bag. pack your toiletries in your check-in bag. they will merely make you display that your laptop and whatnot functions. don't carry-on any stuff that'll cause you a delay. if you'r flying overseas, they'll give you a toothbrush and paste.
- You can have a laptop bag (where you can put your laptop, mp3, and camera) and a personal item (such as a backpack or purse). You cannot have a laptop bag, a backpack and a purse. You can put your laptop in your backpack (I do it all the time) if you want to carry it that way. You'll just have to take it out and send through the machine separately. If you bring your laptop, you have to take it out of the bag when it goes through the xray machine. Be prepared to prove that your computer is actually a computer by powering it on for the security agents. Your mp3 player and digital camera can stay in the bag. As far as your alloted quart sized ziploc of toiletries, you have to pull that out of your backpack and put it through the xray machine separately. Happy travels!
