Transatlantic US Airways or Air Canada?

I am planing on going over to Continental Europe, from Toronto, next April for 5 months to backpack. I was looking for flights to anywhere, and saw that US Air was about $40 cheaper than anything else on all of their routes, but Air Canada was second cheapest. Should I just pay the extra $40 and fly AC? I have never flown transatlantic on either airline. What kind of service do the airlines offer on transatlantic flights? I have already backpacked the UK and Ireland, but flew British Airways. Unfortunately, BA is really expensive for the flights I was looking at, and I want to save my money for backpacking, not spend it on flights!

  1. Depends where you're flying to and if you have to change in the US, which can be a pain. I've flown AC to Europe and they are quite good. Better than most of the US airlines I've used.
  2. If you're flying coach, it won't matter much. Choose whichever has the better schedule.
  3. These days there is probably no difference (except price). I used to love flying Air Canada, because they were never fully booked and I could stretch out on the three middle seats and sleep.
  4. I would say which ever one gives you the best flight schedule. You still have time to look up other flights when they have sales on flights to were you are going. You could check if they have courier flights out of Totonto by checking courier travel wb sites.I know in the US they do from NY and LA.
