Continental Airline Tickets

What is the max size of soft-sided dog carriers that Continental airlines will allow in-flight?

I am traveling with my puppy schnauzer (4 months) and I heard that hard carriers have to be 9" high, but does anyone have any experience with soft sided ones? If anyone has taken their pet in-flight on Continental please share your experience. Also, if anyone knows the height underneath seats on Continental airlines that would be GREAT, too!

  1. I would pick up your phone and call them, Why would you ask here when you can call them for free and get the answer?
  2. Call Continental instead.
  3. I'm assuming that you will be traveling with your Schnauzer inside the cabin? The kennel must fit completely under the seat forward of the customer and remain there at all times aboard the aircraft. Maximum dimensions are: 22" L x 14" W x 9" H (56 cm L x 36 cm W x 23 cm H). http://www.pettravel.com/airline_pet_rules/continental.cfm
  4. I would look on their website, each airline can be different. There are some companies that make carriers that are the standard size, that can go on all airline. Just Google it.. Ive never had a problem w/ the soft sided ones, just make sure u get him use to it first. Ive taken my dog every where w/ me. Hes always really good. After they take the seat belt sign off I take him out of his carrier and put him on my lap, under one of those blankets that they give you. You really aren't supposed to do that but most stewartist (sp?)really dont mind. The only real problem I have w/ traveling w/ him, is leaving him alone in the hotel room. But hes gotten better about it. Good Luck to you. I hope u both have a great trip! P.S. Just so u know u have to get a letter from the Vet within 30 days before u fly saying that your dog is healthy enough to fly.
  5. If you go on Continental Airlines website you can get all the airline restrictions for pet travel.
