Continental Airline Tickets

What is the baggage allowance for Continental for flights leaving the UK?

I want to take with me a bag containing camera, and ipod and also my laptop in its own case. Have read information on all sites including BAA, CO and LHR but information is still slightly blurry! Any confirmation would be great especially if you have flown with Continental.

  1. I'm guessing you're talking about hand luggage, since you wouldn't want to check all of those electronics! Especially the laptop! As long as you are not flying out of Belfast or Bristol, the carry-on allowances for Continental will allow you 1 carry-on bag up to 40lbs/18kg and 1 "personal item" which can be your laptop bag. Most of the UK airports have now lifted the one-item restrictions, but for Bristol and Belfast, the one-item limit still applies. In that case you're limited to just the one carry-on, so you would need to either put all your carry-on items into the laptop bag or put the laptop bag into another carry-on bag. (Checked baggage allowance for Continental, flying UK - USA is 2 bags up to 50lbs/23kg each.)
  2. Carry-on Allowance :All locations except India and some airports in the United Kingdom: 1 bag and 1 personal item, 51 linear in or 130 cm (L+W+H), 40 lbs or 18 kg. • India: 1 bag and 1 personal item, 45 linear in or 114 cm (L+W+H), 40 lbs or 18 kg. • United Kingdom - Belfast and Bristol: 1 bag, 45 linear in or 114 cm (L+W+H), 40 lbs or 18 kg" Excess Baggage Rules : If your baggage exceeds Continental Airlines' limits of free baggage allowance, you're required to pay additional fee based on quantity, weight and size. For bags weighing 51-70 lb, you'll be charged an additional amount of $50. Bags weighing over 70 lbs are not accepted. For every bag over 63 inches, you're required to pay an additional amount of $100. The rate for additional pieces of baggage is - $100.
