Do you think english clubs are starting to adapt a more continental approach to their style of play?

When i say continental i mean, more like spanish or french style of play.....Manchester united slowly adapted their style in the champions league to get better results, and with the amount of foreign influence in english clubs is the style slowly changing to passing rather than smashing it down the line?

  1. i think that the general trend in the Champion's League is to play more conservatively than they play in the Premiership. Manchester United for example like to play with a 4-5-1 formation in Europe, which constricts the midfield and doesn't allow many goals. I dont think that the foriegn influence changes the clubs' style. for example, look at the spanish/dutch influence on Liverpool. Liverpool plays a very controlled and sometimes slow build up play. that contrasts, especially with the dutch mentality. i think that players are brought in to adapt to a club's system and manager's preferences. So all in all, English clubs generally try not to play in the typical english attacking ideal. They tend to play a bit more conservitively when facing european opposition. i know its long, but i hope it helps
  2. you think to Much
  3. starting to? with so many international managers in the EPL already, theyve been playing continental football for years now....but at a faster pace.
