  1. I don't have any idea, but if you check with an auto repair shop they may be able to give you an estimate. It would help greatly if you could take the car to the shop for the estimate.
  2. My brother had one of those pieces of....... and he was quoted about 800.00 . That was also 9 years ago. That body style is notorious for that.
  3. Scott is correct. That particular type of car (also the Lincoln Towncar) is notorious for having these problems. A while back I looked into replacing the same suspension pieces for a '93 Towncar that a guy also had for sale and in excellent condition. Turned out that parts alone were going to run me between $200-$400 each side plus labor for a total of something like $800-$1000. If you are good with mechanics and can complete the repairs yourself, it might be an excellent car for you. If not, I would keep looking and let someone else inherit his problem.
  4. It needs to be looked at carefully because it can be leaking air from several areas. The individual air shocks can go bad at a cost of hundreds or a simple fitting may be gone. They have a record of front struts leaking.
  5. Good points brought up, but...I'd recommend scrapping that junk system and getting Taurus coil springs and swapping them in. Why pay that much to repair a rebadged Taurus anyway?
