Continental Airline Tickets

When's the best time to purchase airline tickets?

I have vacation coming up in July, and was wondering how far in advance I should purchase airline tickets. Some people continually end up paying $220-250 or so for non-stop, round trip flights (usually Continental). I always end up at $350-450. How can I get the best fare?? Thanks!

  1. they all have sales now so start surfing
  2. It depends on whether you want to take a chance or want seating security. The best tickets are bought in that season and directed towards the interest of those who can fly in a relatively short time. The airlines won't tell you when this is however, and you have to keep an eye on their fares. I'm waiting to buy for St. Croix in September, so I'll start looking in July.
  3. it would depend on your destination. if there something major happening on ur travel dates in ur destinations, chances are, the airlines gonna take advantage of this. there is no way of knowing FOR sure (since ppl buy tickets, cancel, cross sells with other airlines) when would be best time to buy the cheapest ticket.. but if u can afford the last minute purchase, wait for it
