What is the best site to get cheap airline tickets from?

I'm looking to book a tickets to fly from Phoenix to Seattle and then back again. I've been looking at the cheapest way to book these tickets and would like some advice. Is it cheaper to book two one-way tickets? Should I call the airline themselves, would they have better deals?

1. Generally best not to call the airline to book, as most of them charge extra for that. Checking the airlines' websites is a good idea. It would almost always cost more, not less, to buy two one-way tickets.
2. I would suggest comparing prices between a round trip and 2 one-ways. I got a better deal by booking to one-ways from Oakland to San Diego then doing a round trip. It just depends on dates and times you plan to travel. I would suggest trying this website: www.everydaytravelconnections.com
