Continental Airline Tickets

I have a round trip flight booked with US Airways but only want to use the return flight - is this ok?

If I let US Airways know in advance that I won't be using the departure flight but still want to use the return, is it likely that they'll agree to this, or will they just cancel the whole thing?

  1. having a ticket is like having a contract, you booked your ticket round trip, so you can't just cancel the one portion just because you feel like it. Two things can happen, if you don't take the outbound flight, the reservation cancels your return automatically because they're assuming you're not flying at all. If you only want to do the return, they actually have to reprice your ticket for a one way only, and it can be either less or more depending on the rules of your ticket. You can call and ask them to reprice it to see how much it'll be, but you will most likely end up paying.
  2. They will cancel the whole thing. The only way to do this is to pay a cancel fee for the first part and have the travel credit. If you decide not to call them and just not show up, then your reservation will automatically be deleted by Sabre, the reservation system US Airways uses. Unfortunately that is your only option at this point.
  3. They'll cancel the whole thing.
  4. you have to cancel the whole ticket and start over
