Question about a Continental airlines purchase?
I recently bought [well my mom did] a Continental Airlines ticket round trip from Houston IAH - Philadelphia PHL. Assuming as in the past, "adult" when booking is usually like 14-15+, we purchased this ticket under the "Adult" category, although I am only 16. I went back through the booking process to see if there was a children's category for "15-17", and there is. It wasn't any cheaper to book it as that children's ticket, but will the airport/gate agents give me any trouble for having an adult ticket? thanks. edit: yeah I am travelling alone without an adult Edit2: no, I have a learner's permit which is govt. issued, as well as a school photo ID, which the gate agents in Philly took last year as well. the continental website does say ID for unaccompanied minors will accept a school photo ID though edit3: Their website doesn't have any restriction as it seems against 15+, but has a few rules for kids 8-14.... still unsure if they'll question my having an "adult" ticket.

- they generally do this to determine if they have an unaccompanied minor. I would call the airline or review their website to see what the requirements are for a 15-17 y/o minor to fly unaccompanied. It would be a real drag if the don't let you on the plane. Do you have a government issued (not school) photo ID?
- It has nothing to do with having an "adult" ticket. There is no difference in price. Be very careful about buying unaccompanied minor tickets online. Continental permits it for certain ages it if it is on their own website; most airlines don't allow online purchases at all in this circumstance. That's because there may be special rules and restrictions. They can't advise you of these with online purchases, so they require you to buy the ticket by phone or from a travel agent. Since you used the wrong age, I suggest calling Continental to verify their policy. If you bought it on a website other than Continental's then definitely call. They don't allow unaccompanied minor tickets to be bought on any website than their own. If they have special policies and you don't know about them, you could have problems at the airport.
