Cancelled Continental Flight, when I rebook using credit, can different passengers be flying?

i.e. when I rebook the flight using the credit from the first one, can different people be on that new flight?

  1. it depends on the air carrier ,you go to their website or just call them.
  2. No But if they canceled you should be eligible for a cash refund.
  3. Usually, when an airline cancels a flight, that airline assumes responsibility for rebooking you to your destination. If that airline books you on one of their flights, they the cost to the airline is only the cost of carrying you on the flight (and don't ask, they won't tell you what their per-passenger cost is - that's highly confidential) . But if they have to book you on a flight operated by another airline, they have to pay that other airline whatever is the going rate to book the seat. So the airline has a strong financial advantage to get you on one of their own flights. That said, it is often the case that the airline that has cancelled the flight has so many passengers to rebook that they simply don't have enough available empty seats for everyone - at least not within a reasonable time frame. And rather than force you to have to wait several days, they will go ahead and book you on a competitor's flight in order to keep you happy (relatively speaking).
