hi i both this old road bike to make a fixie, but it didn't have any tires. i went and also both some (700x23c) 23-622 continental ultra race road bike tires, but it does not seems to fit the bikes rims or wheels, what size wheels (rims) do i need to buy to make the tires fit. (i.e. i can't change the tires because i both it from a guy and he wouldn't take them back) thanks for your time

  1. A lot of old road bikes have 27" wheels, which are slightly larger in diameter than 700c. So, if you want wheels to fit the tires you bought, you have to buy 700c wheels. It might be less expensive to buy some 27" tires to use on the wheels you have. They are a bit more difficult to find, but they are still available
  2. I agree with mtlbiker. It sounds like you've got old 27" rims. Panaracer and Continental are two mfrs that still offer tires in this size. If your local shop doesn't have them, you can buy them from biketiresdirect or nashbar. Put the tires on craigslist if you've got to get your money out of them. Ultras aren't worth much of anything; hopefully you paid a fair price.
