Does the price of Airline Tickets go up on Fridays when booking?
Just wondering if the prices of airline tickets go up on Friday-Sunday. I priced a ticket with AirCanada and Continental yesterday. Went to book today and the price shot up by $250. I was wondering if I should wait until Monday and see the prices then. If anyone can give me some good advice that would be great, especially someone who travels frequently and knows these patterns. Thanks in advance. Orbitz and the other discount sites are actually more expensive than actually booking with the airlines and they have boosted their prices in line with the airlines! Up $350!!!

- Orbitz, Expedia, Hotwire. Use flexible travel dates.
- Airfares are constantly changing. Certain fares only last a certain amount of time, or only allow a certain amount of tickets to be purchased at that price. If you are looking at a flight that is a month or more away, look again later, as the price will probably go down again. If you are planning to leave within the next 3 weeks, grab the cheapest price you can find because they will probably continue to go up. Tuesday and Wednesday are the cheapest days to fly. Hope I helped!
- I find that cheaper flights are usually sold on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and sometimes Thursdays. I find that the fares usually go up from Friday to Monday, but sometimes they go back down. There are only a certain amount of tickets sold at a certain price. Once those tickets sell out, the airlines charge a higher price. Stick with it, though. You have to be very aggressive when looking for cheap prices. Check online every day if you have to.
- No, prices do not go up on Friday and back down on Monday.
- The longer you wait, the higher the price is going to be. I would book the ticket now and be done with it.
