Canceling or changing flights from Continental?

Ok, so I bought a ticket to go to Brazil in January from Continental Airlines and now I can't go. I was told that there are no refunds past 24 hrs. What are my other options if I can't travel for those days (or to that country)?

1. You can reschedule your flight. If you bought a non-refundable ticket it will cost you $150 to make the change. I've done it before. The airline will give you a year to complete the new trip or else you lose the value of your ticket. Youc an change dates and destinations. You will also have to pay any price difference in your fare as taxes can go up or down depending on where you'll planning on flying to. Call (800) 231-0856 to make the changes.
