Why are people so ignorant of the monetary issue nowadays?

If you look back at the history of America in the 19th century and before, the monetary issue was always one of the main issues. Speculation in the Continental currency which the Patriots used to finance the Revolution was one of the causes of the Constitution being passed (because the speculators had no chance of getting real money for this phony money if the states remained sovereign). Jefferson was a strong advocate of sound money (either gold or silver) and deflation, but Hamilton (and the elites) supported inflation and a Central Bank. Andrew Jackson's presidency was dominated by the Bank War, in which he shut down the Central Bank to the dismay of the elites. Lincoln printed "greenbacks" during the Civil War, which were much like he Continentals of a century before. The Democrat Party actually went Socialist because the midwestern farmers wanted inflation (through bimetallism), but they would replace the Gold Standard with the Federal Reserve Act, written by bankers.

  2. I am not sure what your stance is on this or what you are asking. Are you advocating going back to a gold standard? Or are you wondering why people don’t know why we left the gold standard?
  3. I think it is in the best interest of the central banks and member banks that the people remain ignorant and confused about money. And besides, a lot of social and religious organizations preach the 'evils' of money, so that people stay away from learning more about money, and as a result become slaves to money. The golden rules: 1) "He who has gold (money) makes the rules." 2) "He who makes the rules keep the gold (money)" We need an educational revolution on money and monetary policy. This is an information age, and he who has the best information will be ahead of others.
  4. Because they are brainwashed. There are still people out there that think that the Federal Reserve is a government bank. Wake up folks, the government "borrows" money from a private bankers group (Fed) and then repays with interest from your taxes.
  5. Why? "A properly functioning system of indoctrination has a variety of tasks. Its primary target are the "stupid and ignorant masses". They must be kept that way; marginalized, and isolated. Ideally, each person should be alone in front of the TV screen watching sports, soap operas, or comedies, deprived of organizational structures that permit individuals lacking resources to discover what they think and believe in, to engage in interaction with others, to formulate their own concerns and programs, and to act to realize them. This hapless multitude are the proper targets of the mass media and a public education system geared to obedience and training in needed skills, including the skill of repeating patriotic slogans on timely occasions." Noam Chomsky " To keep information from the public is the function of the corporate media." Gore Vidal "Without communism ... our state lacks a Wizard of Oz to terrify all the people all the time. So the state looks inward, at the true enemy, who turns out to be - who else? the people of the United States." Gore Vidal "Tis the time's plague when madmen lead the blind." William Shakespeare's King Lear, Act 4 "Capitalism is the extraordinary belief that the nastiest of men for the nastiest of motives will somehow work for the benefit of all." John Maynard Keynes "[The ruling elites] know who their enemies are, and their enemies are the people, the people at home and the people abroad. Their enemies are anybody who wants more social justice, anybody who wants to use the surplus value of society for social needs rather than for individual class greed, that's their enemy."
