Continental Airline Tickets

Flying stand-by on an unfamiliar airline?

I am planning on going to Paris at the end of the month with a close friend, however, because our parents fly for different airlines we are having some problems figuring out how to fly standby on one flight together instead of having to fly separately. My parents are on United and Continental, and his are on Delta. Neither of us have ever flown outside of our respective airlines, so: can anyone tell me how I could get two people from SEA to CDG nonstop on some sort of pass?

  1. Most major airlines have an interline staff travel department which issues rebated tickets to their staff and qualifying relatives for flights on other airlines. (Using reciprocal agreements). So, decide which carrier you both want to use, not necessarily any of the ones you mention above, then each apply separately through your respective parents for a standby ticket on that carrier. Although the tickets will have been issued by different sources they will specify the same carrier and route so when you wait-list yourselves do it together as a group of 2. From personal experience CA and DL seem to have more reciprocal agreements than UA does with other international airlines. Hope that helps, and enjoy Paris!
  2. use his delta benefit and fly SEA-CDG non stop on Air france..simple really you will have higher priority as its a airline partner
