Can I use my US Airways air miles to fly someone else out?

I'm planning to buy plane tickets for my girlfriend to fly her from the US to the UK, I have accumulated a number of miles with US Airways that I would like to use as a discount for the plane tickets. Would that be possible?

1. may be check US airways website. some airlines allow that while others dont.
2. You can call US Airways and ask them how can you use your miles to fly one of their Star Alliance members. Depending on what US city you are flying from, it may be easier just to take US Airways. The only other airline that is in the Star Alliance program that can get you from the US to the UK non stop from one of their hub cities is United. Good luck!
3. That is not a problem. When you redeem the miles, just tell them the name of the passenger.
