Continental Airline Tickets

With United and Continental in the same alliance, will Continental codeshare with same airlines United does?

Specifically, flying to Nebraska on Great Lakes Aviation from Newark, NJ via Denver. United code-shares with them so that we would not need to go through security again at Denver even though we would be switching airlines. Will the same happen with Continental when they join the Start Alliance at the end of this month? Sorry. I need to clarify. What I'm really after is not having to re-check our luggage. Check it at Newark and pick it up in Nebraska. I know Denver has a train between terminals.

  1. Code sharing has nothing to do with going through security when changing flights. Every airport is connected among their terminals for all domestic flights behind security so even if you have to go from one airline to another one, regardless of whether the 2 are in the same alliance, you won't need to go through another security check point. Big airports either have light rail trains (as in Dallas, Las Vegas), or tunnels (Chicago) that connect the terminals. There is no need to re-check baggage, airlines can take care of transferring your bags among themselves.
  2. Great Lakes Aviation is not a part of the Star Alliance. That airline is just a code-share partner with United. If you fly into Denver to connect, then you would not need to go through security again unless you leave the terminal.
