Continental Airline Tickets

Can I combine frequent flyer miles from different airlines into one consolidated account?

I travel frequently for work and often use various airlines. (us airways, continental airlines, united, AA) Can I combine the frequent flyer miles from any of these airlines?

  1. No you can't, even among airlines in the same alliance. It's very important that you try to use one frequent flyer number from one account (when flying partner airlines in the same alliance) as often as possible in order to more quickly gain award travel, upgrades and elite status. You might want to check Points.com to see if someone will swap miles with you.
  2. No way they will let you do that. Their systems don't work like that and cannot even do it (systematically speaking). Think about it say you work for AA and someone calls to book a trip using YOUR points ( or AA's) points with West Jet and you will fly with West Jet, that's like them giving you 50$ expecting nothing in return but really by them giving u that 50$ they're losing more money... If you have 100$ in frequesnt flyer miles with AA and you want to purchase flight tickets which cost you say 500$. Technically they still make that 400$ (or less cuz of taxes) but if they just gave you the 100$ credit to use with west jet and buy the west jet flights because u want to combine the points , they would lose 400$ (or less cuz of taxes). So therefore don't even call them to ask them that question because they'll laugh at you, while they mute the mic of course!
  3. No, of course not! This would defeat the purpose of a frequent flyer program. Would you walk into KFC and expect to be able to use McDonalds vouchers?
