how can I avoid bag fees with us airways ?

I am flying to chicago from sacramento round trip, how many times will they charge me bag fees and how much, also whats the limit, and is there a way not to pay for luggage , some type of dicount with us airways ?

1. Two ways: follow the rules in economy, or follow the rules in first class
2. Bag fees will be charged in both directions. Pack very lightly so you can fit everything into a carry-on if you want to avoid the fees. The charges are shown here on the airline website: http://www.usairways.com/en-US/traveltools/baggage/baggagepolicies.html Note that it's cheaper if you check-in on line and pay at that time.
3. If you want to check a bag, you can't. If you can fit everything into your carry-on and personal item, then you won't have a bag fee. You could always ship things via FedEx or UPS or the USPS, but that's probably going to cost more than the bag fee.
