When is the best time to buy airline tickets to Thailand?

I am planning a trip to go to Thailand in January. I want to know when would be a good time to purchase cheap airline tickets, now or wait until January? Traveling from LAX. Thanks!

1. I fly from LAX also and usually it does not seem to matter. There is not a great demand for air travel to Thailand. Unfortunately, and you are going during the busy season. I checked flight for March 2010 and they are comparable to the flight I booked for Thanksgiving week. Because of the political turmoil many people are staying away from Thailand. Currently, not a problem. And in general not a problem. My friends in Thailand would tell me if it was a problem. You have a few choices when flying. China Airlines which I normally fly, is good, food is good, the flight attendents are usually cordial and speak some english. I am Japanese American and they try to talk to me in Chinese. hahaha China Airlines consistently has the lowest fare. Mostly. The stop in Taipei is a usually a couple three hours and its nice. Now, the cheapest fare is the afternoon departures and arrives in the dead of night. These are the least full. EVA Air is similar flight schedule and their fares are higher. Though if you fly their Elite class on the 777 or the Deluxe Economy class seats which are around $150 more r/t those are business class seats. Which are worth it most times. Very nice to fly that way. Again the afternoon departures are the lowest fares once in a while you can find maybe Korean Airlines or Philippines Airline on sale. I checked Expedia and Orbitz, both are adding more asian hotels. Still not a great selection, almost adequate. Agoda.com, Res24.com or Sawadee.com for hotels. Check the most recent reviews for updates on the hotels for renovations and problems. So look $797.00 for Asiana is a great price, I have never flown on the airline. the flight times are a bit weird. 2. I'm flying out to Thailand Dec. 30 and I purchased my ticket earlier this week. This is a good time to start looking. I actually got my ticket from a local agent (I'm in DC). I'm flying Korean Air. Better get it now before prices go up. Don't wait too long.
3. I have just purchased my tickets to Thailand this week, it's best to get them now. We are also traveling in January and we purchased our tickets through a travel agent. We're traveling with Korean Air and it's a pretty nice deal. Better get them now before the price sky rockets!
4. Buy your air tickets as soon as you have decided to go to Thailand. You will lose money if you postpone your booking since seat availabilty gradually goes down and prices go up. Try Travelocity and get the cheapest air ticket in just one minute. Finding online the cheapest flight for you is the job of Travelocity and other flights brokers/ booking sites that compare instantly air tickets from different airlines. 5. Now is the time to buy tickets for January, don't wait until January, you need to buy at least a month out to get a good fare. If you want the cheapest fares, check China Airlines (through Taipei) or United Airlines. Cathay Pacific through Hong Kong often has competitive fares to BKK. If you can find a good price with Cathay, I highly recommend using them. Their service, food and in-flight entertainment as well as good layover times is worth a little extra money. Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines are also very good, but most likely more expensive and on many Singapore Airlines flights you may have two layovers.

Fare compare http://www.farecompare.com/ They have a rolling price check that tells you the price for any dates Right now (next week or so) a Ticket from Washington D.C. is about $815 and December is running about $862 and in January $1062. These numbers change as the dates get closer. They will also send you a notification (if you want) when the fares are low. Its almost always cheaper to fly on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. As for waiting, it seems like people aren't buying ticket to Thailand from the US and the tick prices are falling closer to the travel date which is not normal but its risky. For someone who can take advantage of the low fare its great but for someone who needs to fly, I would try to hold on till about 60-45 days out and see whats out there. I checked for LA and they have current flights for $717 and $668 in November and December and rising to $793 in January.
7. there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
