Frequent Flier Miles dilemma on US Airways?

To make an incredibly long story short: my dad and I are planning to visit Colombia from March 26th to April 2nd of 2010. We want to use his frequent flier miles he has accumulated over time (he has over 80,000 at this point!) to make the trip. US Airways themselves do not fly to Colombia. However, their allied partner, Continental Airlines do. We found several flights from PHL (Philadelphia, where we live) to BOG (the Bogota airport), but we've reached a problem. My dad is signed up on US Airways, but not on the Continental Airline website. Is there any way to use his US Airway miles on the Continental website, or Continental flights? How do we do this? Can we do it on the US Airway website, if so, how? We are very confused at this point. I've searched through the sites but there's not much I can figure out, so I've come to yahoo answers seeking guidance! Thank you :)

  1. Call US Airways and see if they can arrange your flight using air miles and Continental........they can give you the correct answer......
  2. To book any award travel using a partner airline you have to call them to do that.. From their website: Star Alliance and other partner award travel: To book award travel on Star Alliance and all other Dividend Miles partner airlines or if any portion of your award travel is on one of our partner airlines, call 800-428-4322. Thru US Airways partners, you can get to BOG from PHL, assuming there is availability for award seats on the dates you are looking for.. Do call them ASAP to inquire.
  3. Unfortunately, at this time, US Airways' website doesn't allow you to book award travel on their alliance partners online. HOWEVER, if you give them a call, they will be more than happy to assist you in completing your award reservation. US Airways reservations line is : 1-800-428-4322
