38 minutes to make a connection at IAH?
I will be arriving on Continental Express at Terminal B, gate 84M (the extreme end of the Express satellite gates) and I have 38 minutes to get to my international flight leaving from Terminal E, gate 7. Even taking the TerminaLink train, am I likely to get to the gate too late? Will CO hold a plane for a connecting passenger that they know is in the airport? (If not, the next flight to London is 22 hours later!) Are there moving sidewalks or chauffeured carts anywhere in the Terminal B satellite, or will I be self-powered all the way to the TerminaLink station? It looks like a good 10-minute walk just to get out of the satellite area... :-( Leaving next week, all replies are greatly appreciated. William K - The TerminaLink train is described as a "sterile, airside shuttle". As such, I don't believe that I'll be exiting and re-entering security. Mostly, I'm concerned about the schlep from B48M to the TerminaLink station in the center of B Terminal. Per Google Earth, it appears to be nearly 1km from the most extreme point. Any clue as to whether that's 100% walking, or if there are moving sidewalks and/or courtesy carts that would speed us along...? Thanks! Oops, make that gate "B84M" (as in Terminal B, gate 84, slot M).

- It is maybe a three minute walk to the underground train from your gate. That being said you're leaving a secure area and going to another secure area so you'll have to go through security again. Call Continental and find out what they'll do for you. Explain your problem. EDIT: Oh, the skytrain thing. I never use it. I prefer the tunnel train under the terminals. Sorry.
- You will definitely miss the flight because you need at least 1 hour connection. I almost missed a flight with a 40 minute connection don't risk it.
- I think you will be able to make it. You just need to get off your flight and book it to Terminal E. Just stay focused on the signs, to know where you are going, and take the train. You may also want to ask your flight attendant if there is anything they can do to help you get to your connecting flight. There are moving sidewalks, trains and I do see guys driving carts (but I think they are reserved for elderly/handicapped). Good luck!
- IAH is a huge airport, yes there is the TerminaLink Train, moving sidewalks, and courtesy carts, and all that, but you are highly unlikely to make it. And if you were on another Continental Express plane they might hold it, if they know your coming, but I can highly doubt they'll hold an international flight, unless you are right there.
- You will be inside the security checkpoint when arriving & making your way to your flight connection. Do NOT get out from that area or you will have to go through security checkpoints again. As soon as you exit the express flight tell the person at the front desk to call the terminal from your London flight to tell them you are on your way. Then try to get on a "trolley". I think that's what its called. It is a like a golf cart that goes around & picks up passengers needing a ride to another terminal. I got on & it was way faster than me walking (running) over there. Plus, it is driven by airport employees who know their way around. Use the moving sidewalks in the meantime until you see the "trolley". Don't wait until you find one. If I were you I would check in all my luggage & have the least possible things on me. It makes it easier to get around. Terminal B seems verrrrry far from Terminal E, but they have shortcuts inside the airport (been there many times). ~Hope this helps!
