Continental Airline Tickets

I have a "Non-refundable" airline ticket?

I have a non-refundable ticket on Continental. Things change, so have to take another flight on another airline. Can the money I paid for the Continental ticket be applied to another trip in the future, or is it just gone? My travel agent is closed. Thanks!!

  1. Here is Continental's refund policy. From what I understood, you will only receive a refund of the taxes and airport fees, not the fare. The only way to get a nonrefundable fare refunded is if there was a death or illness that required the change, in which case they want documentation. I recommend calling your travel agent or the airline just to be sure, though. In the future, I also recommend travel insurance. For domestic flights, it is usually less than $20 and can save you a hassle with the airline.
  2. You can use it for another flight, but will pay a rebooking fee. Non-refundable means you don't get your money back; you can still use it for travel.
