Why is US Airways so disliked within the airline industry?
I was checking out the comments from people who are into the airline thing on airliners.net about the possible merger between United and US and most of the comments mention how US Airways is a mess and how it needs to be divested or it just dies a slow death. What makes US Airways any worse than the other major airlines?
Public Comments
- I liked it way more than Delta. The airline workers for Delta ( at least in my city ) were JERKS.
- Small airline, unreliable, constantly late, few destinations, only selected dates. I had to take them a few times, not a good experience.
- A friend of mine just complained about US Airways! It is horribly run. I have never heard good things about it. I avoid it like the plague. I didn't even know Delta was still in business up until a few years ago. I thought the airline went bankrupt in the 80's, lol! I heard that one was terrible too.
- They are so disliked because of their poor customer service, there not-so-good service, and their baggage handling.
- The airline has a high rate of mishandled baggage. Also when they bought out America West, it took an extremely long time to integrate the 2 airlines. Thirdly, US Airways was the first airline to get rid of free in-flight snacks and wanted to charge $2 for a cup of water. Lots of people were upset and they brought back the free snacks and stopped charging for a cup of water but I think that left a bad taste in people's mouths.
- US Airways main cities of service are in the Northeast. This area is notorious for bad weather which often delays flights and causes a ripple effect throughout the entire route system. It's not a bad airline. I worked for them for many years, have flown with many other airlines and have had good and bad experiences on all of them. Us Airways carries more passengers within the US than any other domestic carrier (the more passengers, the more chances of complaints). A positive thing to be said about them --- their pilots have more experience flying in inclement weather than any other carrier.
