Continental Airline Tickets

Do airlines provide you with a blanket and small pillow?

Particularly US Airways, United Airlines, and Continental Airlines. If so do they charge for these items, and is it typically cold on airplanes. My flight will be rather long, it is from New York to Spain. Thanks.

  1. International flights tend to offer more of these things than domestic ones. Still, put a sweater in your carry-on, just in case the blanket is small. (not to mention, they NEVER wash those blankets and/or pillows.)
  2. They do give you pillows and blankets on long haul flights. But if you want, at thye airport you can buy a cushion that's custom made to wrap around your neck. It's useful if you want to rest your head against the window.
  3. You have to decide for yourself if you can get past the eeewwwww factor of wondering where else this pillow or blanket has been. Personally, I can't and I always wear layers and put a wrap in my carry on because it can be very warm and stuffy while the plane boards and very cold at high altitude. You should check you airline's website or give them a call for their specifics on long haul flights.
  4. The United flight that I took last night did have free blankets and pillow on every seat on the flight from Washington to Frankfurt. I have never been on an international flight with United that did not have this.
