Can I earn miles on a ticket booked by a travel agent?

Hi! recently booked a ticket through a travel agent even though I had a frequent flyer membership with the concerned airline because the fare I was getting was too high. Now that the agent has completed the transaction and given me the confirmation code can I go to the airline website and add my frequent flyer number to the reservation? Thanks! Airline in this case is Continental.

1. This happened to me once. I just called the travel agent back and gave him my frequent flyer number to add to the reservation.
2. yes you can call the airline to add your frequent flier accpint or even when you check in you can do it then too i have done myself

4. Yes. Didn't you give the travel agent your frequent flier number before he/she booked? In most cases, you can't add your flier number to the flight until after it has been flown. Call Continental if you need anymore help. Have a great trip!
