Looking for cheap airline tickets. What site do you use?
I've been having trouble finding decently priced airline tickets. What website do you use? What website has the best prices? I found a ticket for $460.00 the other day and I think that's nuts when I flew to the same place for $230.00 two years ago. I'd be flying in the continental US and I'd like to fly in September. Thanks!

- I usually start with Kayak (www.kayak.com). That will give me a good general idea of what to expect. It searches many other travel websites (like Orbitz and CheapTickets), as well as airline sites. Once I see what the cheapest is there, I go to the airline's website to see if it is any cheaper. For example, if the cheapest flight on Kayak is through US Airways, go to the US Airways website and see what the cost is there. I've found that sometimes it's cheaper. Lastly, check what discount airlines fly the route you want. Check those websites directly. For example, Southwest Airlines fares do not show up on Kayak. I will also add: Buying your ticket less than a month in advance will usually not get you a cheap ticket. If you are planning a trip, keep an eye on flights at least 2 months before you leave. You usually can spot a deal in that timeframe. Good luck.
- http://www.skyscanner.net/ Try them for a very good comparison of low cost carriers. I have always found them to be extremely reliable and if theres a cheap one there, it will find it for you. I just found a deal for a friend going to Moscow. £700 with BA. £240 with BMI! Well worth a look. Also http://www.netflights.com/ All the very best of luck to you :)
- cheaptickets.com i think dat's how u write it. its a rlly good website. try it out
- There is no one best website. It would be helpful if you mentioned where you are flying from and where you are going. http://www.kayak.com is a good place to start. You can also visit airline sites such as JetBlue, Southwest, AirTran, Virgin America, Frontier, Spirit, Allegiant.
- expedia is the cheapest for legacy carriers, and if u live in a place and your destination is a place with connections with allegiant air (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegiant_air_destinations), you are likely to find a fare for less than $100, ive flown them, not the best airline, but gets you and your baggage there for a cheap price.
- They're all the same if you're buying airline published fares. You may find some low fares offered by online travel agencies such as travelocity or expedia. But these are almost always bundled with hotel and/or car and sold only as a package. When the fares are too high, I wait. If I cannot wait, then I try nearby cities.
- Kayak or Orbitz Alot has changed in the last 2 yrs. Also you are looking to fly in the next 4 weeks. Airfare prices are the lowest about 6 months out and start going up from there to the day of flight.
- great website :) very good at finding things about charter flight company in Canada. http://www.dukejets.ca
- I've had good luck with this travel site: http://www.ytbtravel.com/Flights.aspx?wa=kmichel54 Hope this helps!
- www.ticketdugout.com they have good prices.
- Sometimes the airlines themselves have good deals. Or even just www.Expedia.com or similar ones. There is a website called www.sidestep.com that searches a whole bunch of other discount websites at the same time. That is a good website that is used by professional travel agents.
- www.ticketdugout.com they have good prices.
