Flight transfer info needed for Philadelphia Airport and US Airways?

I am flying from Manchester to Las Vegas with a change in Philadelphia, both legs are with US Airways. Can anyone explain to me what I need to do with regards getting my luggage from the one plane to the other. Also as a UK citizen is this the point I pass through customs or is that in Vegas. Thansk in advance.

  1. when you do a transfer planes they take care of your bags , if you are not a US citizen you will need a passport , so you will not see your bags till you get in vegas hope i answerd your question
  2. You will go through customs/immigration in Philadelphia. As part of that process, you will have to retrieve your bags prior to going through customs. Then once through there are drop off spots to get your bags to your next flight.
  3. Once you have landed in Philadelphia, you will need to clear US Customs and Border Protection. After that, you will have to claim your baggage, and re-check it with US Airways (there is a small desk dedicated for luggage transfers). That is it. Have a great trip!
  4. This is what will happen: 1. At Manchester double check the bag is tagged to LAS and you have all boarding passes. 2. In Philly, go through immigration 3. Pick up bag from carousel 4. Bring it through green line (nothing to declare) 5. Look for the transit sign and drop off bag. (Handlers will be there to take it from you). 6. Go to the domestic boarding gate. It's a bit of a walk. Don't go outside.
  5. Have done this very recently on USAirways although we were continuing on to somewhere other than Vegas :) When you land at Philly you will need to first clear Immigration, then claim your bags from the carousel and proceed to Customs which in most cases is very quick. Take your bags with you as you leave Customs and you'll have another carousel to deposit your bags again. Your bag should already be tagged with LAS as the final destination so no need to stop at the ticket counter, but there is one right there if you need any help with your tickets (and honestly the USAir ground staff in Manchester is anything but helpful so if you have minor ticketing requests, save them till you're in Philly). Follow the walkway towards the rest of the terminal and you will need to clear Security again--- this is uncommon outside of the US, once you're in transit there's no more security but here in the US, another trip through the metal detector. Once past security you can proceed to your departure gate. Your MAN flight will land in the A-West terminal which is quite massive and a fair distance from the rest of the terminals; your Las Vegas plane will probably leave from the B- or C-gates and you will have a pretty long walk in between. If your layover is less than an hour I would recommend getting to your departure gate before looking around for a snack, etc. It is very easy to underestimate how far the A-gates can be!
