Continental Airline Tickets

Howcome can you not hold a flight ticket with the Continental Airlines?

I wanted to order a round-trip ticket with the Continental Airlines,and have my parents pay for it once I get to the airport,but they said they don't hold the tickets. Howcome is this? I have to be able to pick it up at the airport and preorder it!

1. They want to be sure you're actually buying a ticket and not just taking up space on their reservation system. That would be stupid. Just buy it now. What's the difference? You pay for it either way. BTW: no airline ever holds tickets, so don't think other airlines will treat you differently.
2. because they dont print paper tickets anymore all you need is the confirmation number-some time know as a passenger reservation number just have your parent book your flight either online on the Continental website or call they will get a confirmation number which you can then use to pick up your boarding pass at the airport from either the kiosk or the agent
