I have a connecting flight with Continental Airlines. What will happen to my suitcase?
I am due to travel to Washington D.C. from the U.K. with Continental Airlines and have a connecting flight via Newark. Will my suitcase be transferred to my next flight for me or will I have to get it from baggage claim and check it back in? Thanks for any answers.

- it will be checked through to your final destination
- US Customs requires you to clear customs and immigration at your first point of entry in the US, in your case Newark. You can check your luggage through to DC, but will have to retrieve your luggage in Newark to clear customs. Once you have cleared customs there will be a counter for passengers with connecting flights to drop off their luggage for their connecting flights.
- you first go though immigration then you go to the baggage claim area get your suitcase then you go though customs then you recheck the luggage there will be a recheck desk just beyond customs
- Gerald J is completely correct
