Continental Airline Tickets

Do you think Continental airways got off lightly with their fine?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11923556.. 113 dead and a 200,000 euros (£170,000) fine. considering how much BP are being made to pay in the US for spilling some oil in the sea, do you think the French are letting the airline off lightly for their criminal responsibility. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11923556

  1. Thing is, the United States were always jeolous of Concorde right from the start, they wouldn't even allow it to fly supersonic over US airspace, and initially wouldn't even allow it to land at JFK. Fact is, they did not or could not make a supersonic airliner, and in grand old US tradition, if they haven't got it, then you can't have it either. It's rather ironic that what finished Concorde off for good was a bit of titanium that fell off a clapped out old DC10. Damned right Continental got off lightly, it cost ua British and French billions thanks to them.
  2. The had it easier than the dead passengers!!! Do the families get compansation? as little as this will help them...
  3. It was the primary duty of the airport authority to ensure the runways were kept clear of any debris. This is just the usual French 'buck passing' when their incompetence is revealed. Just as they put the blame on the British in 1940 for their defeat it is just a symptom of French reluctance to distinguish the truth from fantasy.
  4. Yes I do. After all they could have been fined a lot more if it hadn't of been the French maintenance people who did the maintenance on the air plane before it dropped the parts onto the airstrip. If those same people had been American, British or any other nationality who had done the work then I'm sure the fine would have been absolutely astronomical. That is usually how the French work anyway.
  5. The Americans shovelled the blame for the Deepwater Horizon disaster onto BP despite the contractor and the BOP manufacturer (Halliburton) being American. In the same zenophobic way the French are blaming the Americans for the Concorde disaster rather than admitting the plane had an unsurmountable design flaw.(unprotected wing fuel tanks) Significantly, after the disaster the response was to ground the plane, not tighten up runway clearance patrols.
