What do I need to know about airline travel?
My husband and I will be traveling via airplane in September and it will be my first time on an airplane. I am very confused by all the different rules and regulations. I don't know how to find out about fees for checking luggage, what size luggage is acceptable, what things we shouldn't pack, etc. Someone please give us some advice!

- Every airline has their own rules. You should be able to find out by going to their website and looking for rules and restrictions. Just remember, no liquids over three ounces in your carry-on, and no sharp objects.
- It depends on how long you go. I pack all my stuff in 2 carry on bags to avoid the hassle and fees of checking bags. Pack each of your toiletries in separate small plastic bags and none of them may be in containers larger than 6 oz i believe. Bring something to entertain you because you will get bored. Dont bring anything sharp or flammable(if you smoke you can bring a lighter i believe)
- It depends on the airline check the website's terms and condition. Usually it is done on weight so don't worry about the size of your suitcase as it is designed to go on plans. Other than the weight there is not that much you need to worry about, just make sure you don't put an electric razor or anything like that in your luggage as it may start vibrating and they may think that it is a bomb. With your hand luggage you need to be more careful, don't pack sharp or liquids. Remember to check the airline sites all the info should be there :) Luck
- Hi. I've been on airplanes every summer my WHOLE life. It depends on your airport on what size luggage is acceptable. Some airports and airlines except up to 100 pounds of luggage on a plane, while others can except up to 200 pounds. The fee for checking luggage also depends so make sure you just have a credit card or some cash on you. Sometimes its even free. But still have some money for food or other important things. Things your not allowed to pack bags that go on an airplane are, water, alcohol, cigarettes, lighters, matches, etc. Anything dangerous for short. You are allowed to pack, toilet paper, just in case, books, and things that aren't dangerous. I don't even know why they don't allow water. So before you aboard the plane throw away all those things. There are limits for those bags that don't aboard the plane. The average limit for them is up to 350 pounds. Rules: Always keep your seat belt on when there is take-off, landing, or whenever the pilot says so. When they say you can take it off, then go ahead. Don't make too much noise, and just, have a relaxing time. Warning: When on a plane they always takeoff late, trust me, last year, we were supposed to be taking off at 7 pm , and we didn't take off until 10:30 pm. the pressure in the sky will feel and even smell, differently then on land. you will get used to it. It sometime will be very cold. So bring and extra blanket and pillow. Also, respect your neighbors, even if they are annoying just remeber how good it will be when you are off that plane! At the end, when everyone starts clapping, that means you are on the ground and have landed. Dont worry, it will be fun. If it is a 12 hour ride, that will suck, but if it is 2 or 3 hours, lucky you. When I went on airplanes, each time we went to a foreign country so it took 12-14 hours! Be grateful that you dont have to drive or sail. Have a safe flight! Good Luck!
- You need to know what you can and cannot bring onto the plane with you, and you need to know how to relax :) You can find out what you can and cannot bring onto the plane at the airline's website. Information on fees, maximum size and weight and restrictions of carry-on luggage can usually be found there too.
- You can go to an airline website. http://continental.com/ > Travel Info (Top Blue Navigation Bar) > Drop down menu of all your needs. :)
