Continental Airline Tickets

May I recieve money from the Army filling a travel voucher for excessive baggage during R&R, from an airline?

When I went on R&R, while serving in Iraq, I decided to go to Sweden (OCONUS). When I was in Kuwait, Lufthansa told me that my bags were overweight and that I had to pay a charge of $250 - $300 (don't remember). I ended up having to pay and was hoping that I may be reimbursed from the Army for the "excessive baggage" claim that they supposedly tagged me on. Max points to be awarded for the best answer and if regulation can be provided specifically, that would be awesome.

  1. Well did you ask the Army first even though I don't think they have to reimburse you try and see though. I hear Sweden has lots of hot chicks but that could be a just a stereotype.
  2. You will need your receipt to file the necessary paperwork if it is even an option for you at all. You need to speak to finance about it, most likely it will be denied because if you had bought things for personal use that caused your bags to be overweight than it is your responsibility. Only when you are traveling on PCS orders are you allowed a refund if you have charges.
