Continental Airline Tickets

Is continental airlines safe?

I am planning to go to America for my holidays and i am going to be flying on Continental Airlines. I looked it up and it said that they have had 4 fatal accidents and Virgin Atlantic, that i flew on last year have had none. I'm really scared of flying and that is why my family booked virgin last time. I think that they now think that i'm not scared because i flew there last year but now im even more scared. Please help. And if continental isnt safe then can you please help me to convince them?

  1. Yes it is very safe.
  2. almost all airlines are safe. more people die in cars than in planes, so you don't really have anything to worry about.
  3. accidents happen. nearly every major airline has had an accident here and there. ultimately, it's just the hand of god that decides when your time is up. if an airline truly wasn't safe, they'd have accidents every week and would be shutdown in a heartbeat. yes, continental may have had 4 accidents but they run hundreds of thousands of flights safely. probably twice to three times more flights than Virgin atlantic. so really, based on that into, i'd say continental and virgin are close to equal on safety.
  4. Continental has a good safety record overall. You need to take things in context. Yes they have had four fatal accidents but they have beem an airline since 1934. Continental has more than 2,423 daily departures, serving 130 domestic and 132 international destinations. To have four incidents in that amount of time and with such a massive schedule is remarkably good. Virgin by comparison are much younger and fly far fewer sectors. Statistically you are in far greater danger driving to the airport than flying. The chance of an aviation accident is about 1 in 30,000,000 and on the roads it is one in ten thousand. If I had to make a choice based on safety any of the US, European or Middle or Far Eastern airlines are a good bet. If I were to base it on comfort and service offered I would avoid the US airlines as they are pretty basic by the standards of European and Middle or Far Eastern Airlines.
  5. Continental is an extremely safe airline. The major airlines of developed countries all have a pretty good safety record as the government has strict policies which are in place to make sure airlines follow measures to keep passengers safe. Airlines have their pilots go through strict training so they know what to do in case of an emergency. Also airlines must meet maintenance standards otherwise they can be fined or have their aircraft grounded. Therefore I have no issues with boarding a Continental Airlines flight. Also Continental Airlines has a bigger fleet or aircraft and more flights per day than Virgin Atlantic. Also Continental Airlines has been around longer. Therefore statistically there is a higher chance of an accident happening. You should not worry about flying. It is the safest form of transporation. You have a higher chance of being in a car accident than in a plane accident. Thousands of flights take-off and land each day without incident. Just sit back and enjoy your flight. Think about what you plan to do when you arrive at your destination.
  6. Yes it is. My family always use continental for all our trips.
