Continental Airline Tickets

What happens if your friend buys airline tickets for you to visit them? How do you get them?

My friend says that she got me airline tickets to visit her on Vegas for next week. She says all I have to do is show up and give them my ID to receive them. Is this true?

  1. Whilst I am in a different part of the world, I will offer my advice in any case. If your friend booked the tickets online, then there should be some sort of confirmation and/or travel itinerary which lists all the flight details, etc and in Australia, this is usually sent via email. Your friend should have received this confirmation when she paid for your air tickets. She could then print the itinerary and send it to you, or she could forward it to you online and I'm pretty certain this would suffice for you to take to the airport. If you are unsure and you know the name the tickets were booked with, you could also ring the airline or ticket agent to confirm the tickets have been purchased and are ready for your use.
  2. your friend probably got an email that confirmed the reservation ask her to email it for you. It has a confirmation number on it, that's what you need to get your ticket. You can't just get it by showing them your ID.
  3. Yes, you can either show up at the airport and present the airline your government issued photo id or even check in 24 hours before departure and print your own boarding pass. It is very important that the name on your e-ticket matches the name shown on your id you will use at the airport. Nowadays basically all tickets come in the form of an electronic ticket aka e-ticket. Your friend should forward the airline's confirmation email to you, you can see all the itinerary, confirmation code and ticket number, and check if your name is spelled correctly.
  4. There's nothing to get. The "tickets" are all electronic now.
