One Pass Debit Mileage Earning...?
I have a Chase Continental OnePass Debit Mastercard. At the bank when I opened it I thought they told me that I don't earn miles if I use my pin - that it has to be processed as credit transaction to earn the mileage. But I spoke to another person who has the same card and they said that it doesn't matter if you run it as credit or use your pin because you'll earn miles either way. So I was wondering which one was right. I opened the account a while ago so I may have just remembered what the banker said wrong. Thanks!

- Always best to call customer service for these questions, but generally one only earns points when used as a credit card because the issuer gets a bigger fee. Why would I give you a point worth maybe a penny for every $100 you spend when of a debit transaction I get 35 cents when as a credit transaction I earn $5 on a $100 (reward cards screw sellers with higher fees)
- The fees charged vary between credit and debit. Debit fees have a cap, so any rewards would generally have to be on the credit side so they can pay for it.
