I keep popping Continental Ultra tires. What would you do?
In the past 3 weeks i have popped 3 tubes through the Continental tires, 25c. one was a small steel wire, then a carpet tack and now a piece of glass (Black glass didn't even see the damn thing)....I ride on a bike path around a PGA golf course so im not sure how much better of an area i could ride....do you know of a tire insert the may offer a bit more protection that's designed for high pressure tires?

- Try Mr Tuffy tire liners. You can switch to Continental Gator skins. http://mrtuffy.com/
- had the same problem with conti ultra so i throw them away, didn't seem to have the same problem when i switched to conti GP4000, for high pressure. The other question is how old are they? if its old you should check to see if its worn.
- nothing will stop carpet tacks at the right angle or glass you can get tire liners but they can also cause wear and flats in the tube, sad but true installing them right is hard or impossible ==edit== here is the real answer get a helmet mirror then use it to watch for cars, and take the lane! quit riding in the glass and nail zone, get out in the lane! it is safer also ==== not sure "bike path around a PGA golf course " apparently it;s not that great you still got tacks and glass wle
- I used to have man problems with my road tires, but I switched to a cheapo brand and made sure it used Kevlar. No problems since (I also went to a wider tire). Contis are generally good tires, but sometimes the construction outweighs the tire's rep. I'd start with a Mr Tuffy...used those before.
- sometimes you go through a bad run and the tires have nothing to do with it. I had a bad run with gatorskins and they are known as a reliable commuter tire. Flats are deflating in more ways than one. I tried the tuffy route and still got flats. I have had a good run as of late with no tuffys
