For United Airlines and US Airways, can a 16 year old fly with a 6 year old? Or is a 16 year old not considered an adult?

- Adults are considered 18 and you aren't allowed to take the 6 year old with you for free. Usually around ages 5-7/10, nonstop flights are only allowed with the purchase of the assistance program But if you're going by yourself, you'll be fine because you're over 12 (United) and 15 (US Airways).
- Yes. Their policies allow 16 year olds to fly as adults.
- Yes, you certainly may. kids 15 and over fly as adults and may supervise a younger child. My grandchildren have done this.
- You can fly alone, however you can't fly with a 6 year old. S/he would need assistance from the airline. because it's required for a child of their age.
- The 6 year old is considered an unaccompanied minor even though the 16-year-old is with him/her. http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6867,1052,00.html " Unaccompanied minor service is not required for children ages 11 and younger when they are traveling with a parent, legal guardian or someone who is at least 18 years of age on the same aircraft"
- I am 16, and I did this with my sister who is 10. There is no problem with that. The flight attendant asked us if we were traveling with anybody and our reason for traveling (just being friendly) we were sitting alone, and we told her we did not, and she said "Welcome Aboard"! There really should not be a problem
